Our comrade Norşîn Afrin, a member of the Garê State Command, and our comrades Zilan Afrin, Sîdar Serhed and Levent Qamişlo were martyred in the enemy attack that took place in the Garê region on August 8, 2022.
Living every moment of her 22-year guerrilla life on the line of self-sacrifice; Our comrade Norşîn, the distinguished commander of the Fedayeen army, who duly continued the resistance legacy of Zîlan, Gulan and Delal, took his place in our history of struggle as one of the leading commanders of the women’s freedom line. Our esteemed commander, Comrade Norşîn, who is the indomitable defender of the free woman identity embodied in PAJK, will always be remembered as a unique example of public love, devotion to the country and honest militancy.
The free press tradition he inherited from Gurbetelli Ersöz, Halil Dağ and Ali Kanîroj; Our comrade Sîdar, who wanted to develop it further with his knowledge, experience and hardworking personality, struggled relentlessly for this, made great efforts and revealed important results by giving great efforts. As his comrades, we promise that we will follow the line of struggle of our comrade Sîdar, and that we will not leave his pen, camera and gun on the ground.

The efforts of Rêber Apo, who created the freedom struggle of our people with a lot of effort, as if digging a well with a needle at a time when there was no opportunity and opportunity, was embraced by our people and their self-sacrificing sons, greeted with serhildans and became guerrilla in the mountains of Kurdistan. Rojava Kurdistan has also been one of the first areas where our struggle quickly gained ground with the efforts of Rêber Apo. Our people, who are trying to preserve their existence in the face of the denial and assimilation attacks of the BAAS regime, have become integrated with the spirit of national unity formed together with the PKK and proudly waved the flag of resistance in every period of my struggle. Our city of Afrin, known for its patriotism and devotion to Kurdish values in Rojava, and one of the centers of resistance, was one of the first areas where our Kurdistan Freedom Struggle became popular.
Our comrade Norşîn, who was born in Afrin Raco, in our precious family of the Malbata Nebu tribe, who assimilated the values created by our popularized party, the PKK, and served the cause of our people’s freedom by participating in the struggle in the most difficult times, grew up and shaped in the tradition of resistance. The fact that our party grew up in a family that had been involved in the struggle since the early 80’s, when the PKK under the leadership of Fermandar Egîd struck the first blow to the invaders by starting the guerrilla resistance and re-created hope, enabled our comrade Norşîn to establish strong ties with the PKK from her childhood. The dreams of our comrade Norşîn, who were very impressed by the Apoists she saw and knew, who wanted to live, resist and struggle like them, have always been towards the mountains of Kurdistan. Our comrade, who grew up with the dream of the day when our people will serve as a guerrilla for the freedom struggle, was not accepted because she was too young, although she wanted to join the guerrilla ranks many times. The desire of our comrade Norşîn, who grew up in the mountains of Kurdistan by growing the dream of struggle in her heart, has always continued to increase. After a while, our comrade, who was involved in public works, traveled from village to village, raising the awareness of our people and drawing them into the ranks of the struggle. The fact that her brother, many people from her close family and circle joined the guerrilla ranks and experienced martyrdoms deepened the ties that our comrade established with the guerrilla. Our comrade Norşîn, who brought to consciousness the fact that as a young Kurdish woman, was oppressed by the system and society as a woman as well as her national identity, from the analyzes developed by Rêber Apo, deepened the search and questioning of our comrade Norşîn. Our comrade, who constantly improvesd herself during her work, learns from the people by going to the people and strongly transfers the life culture he received from the PKK to life, has been loved and aroused great respect wherever he has worked. Equipped with the Apoist philosophy, our comrade has successfully fulfilled his pioneering role.
The dark International Conspiracy developed against all our people in the person of Rêber Apo, women and youth, who are the free future leaders of our people, on February 15, 1999, created great anger and deep pain that will never be erased in our people and in our comrade Norşîn, as it did in all our comrades. Our comrade, who did not remain silent against the conspiracy as Leader Apo’s militant and bodyguard, fought harder and determined to cross into the Kurdistan mountains as a guerilla by strengthening his participation. The International Conspiracy was the last point for our comrade Norşîn, who remained in public works for two years and carried out successfully, and our comrade realized his childhood dream in 2000 and joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Freedom guerrilla.
Our comrade Norşîn joined the ranks of the struggle decisively at a time when treachery and liquidationism went hand in hand, and attacks aimed at destroying our people’s freedom struggle from inside and outside intensified, has been an unyielding defender of the Apoist line. As a militant woman, she knitted knots in the most difficult conditions and has always strongly defended the values she created by shedding her blood drop by drop. Our comrade Norşîn, who struggled at every moment during the 22 years she spent in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, improved herself and her environment, and participated in Rêber Apo’s freedom march without hesitation; She wrote an unforgettable epic of resistance with her life, war and participation.
Our comrade Norşîn, who embodied the identity of a free woman created by Rêber Apo in the fierce fire of struggle in the face of the reality of women, who are ignored in the society, imprisoned within four walls and deprived of herself, has become a pioneering Kurdish woman and commander created by the PKK. Martyr Zîlan’s action in Dêrsîm in 1996 in the face of the attack targeting our Leader, in which she dealt a heavy blow to the colonialists, was the answer for our comrade Norşîn how we should defend our Leadership, our values and our people, and the Zîlan line became the qibla of our comrade Norşîn. The identity of a free woman that emerged in the person of Zîlan and Bêrîtans became the main determinant of our comrade Norşîn’s life of struggle and enabled her to join our Leadership, our Party and the line of martyrs on the right basis. From Metîna to Garê, Our comrade Norşîn traveled every inch of Kurdistan from Xinêrê to Qendil, from Zap to Avaşîn and from Zagros to Botan, engaged in guerrilla activities and struggled, became the best example of the reality of women imprisoned within four walls taking wings in the ranks of the PKK. Our comrade Norşîn, who said, “As a woman, as a freedom seeker, we found, protected and developed what we lost and lost to us in the mountains”, our comrade Norşîn was reborn from her own ashes in the mountains of Kurdistan.

Our comrade Norşîn moved to the Medya Defense Zones after her successful practice in Botan, was based on conveying her life experience and guerrilla experience to her young comrades. Our comrade, who has achieved great depth in Rêber Apo’s philosophy of life and the Ideology of Women’s Freedom with the Academy trainings she received, had also acquired great competence in the military field. “Education is taking a new step. Our comrade Norşîn, who strongly represents the PKK and PAJK line in the most difficult times and conditions with the training she received at the PKK Hearth and Martyr Bêrîtan Academy, and proudly carries the militant identity and flag of YJA Star, has brought all her critical studies to a conclusion, and has put her in the trust of her comrades and our Party. She set an example for all her comrades with her energetic, hardworking and smiling personality, humble comradeship and militant style in war. Our comrade, who believes that being a good commander can only be achieved by being a good militant and fighter, has embodied these qualities in herself. Our comrade Norşîn, who successfully fulfilled every task she took from being a team commander to a provincial commander, became one of our comrades who revealed her pioneering Kurdish woman identity.
Our comrade Norşîn, who is a relative of Martyr Jiyan Tolhildan (Selwa Yusuf), who was martyred in Rojava as a result of the attack of the colonial Turkish state, and who grew up in a valuable family who joined the resistance without hesitation from the first stages of our struggle, despite the most difficult conditions, her relatives who died in the ranks of the struggle, and her brother and brother in colonial dungeons. Our Party PKK, which developed under the leadership of Rêber Apo in the most impossible conditions, has re-created our people’s hope for freedom, so that our people, who have been dying under the attacks of assimilation, denial and destruction by the colonialists in the ancient lands of Kurdistan, where they have lived for thousands of years, have an honorable and free future. The reality of Kurdistan and Kurdistan, which was wanted to be erased from history by pouring concrete, turned into the reality of the people fighting with Rêber Apo’s philosophy of freedom, and the colonialists’ dreams of denial and destruction were shattered. Growing up in a working-class family, our comrade introduced us to the concept of labor early, and this made it a distinctive feature in his personality. The historical resistance and victory line of the PKK, which spread to every inch of Kurdistan and left a deep impression on everyone, caught the attention of our comrade Sîdar at an early stage and enabled our people to follow the freedom struggle closely. Our comrade, who witnessed the inhuman attacks of the colonial Turkish state against our people, got to know the reality of the enemy closely and had a great anger against the colonialists. Our comrade, who believes that the tens of massacres perpetrated against our people by the invaders from Dêrsîm to Zîlan must be held accountable, deepened his inquiries and searches in his early youth. Our comrade Sîdar, who is also a successful student, got to know more closely the hostility against the Kurdish people and the colonialist state mentality developed in Konya, one of the metropolises of the Republic of Turkey, where he went to study engineering at Selçuk University. Our comrade, who got to know Rêber Apo’s ideas and the PKK more closely during his university years, believed that the free future of our people will be brought to victory with the historical resistance led by the PKK, and he joined the ranks of the struggle as an honorable Kurdish youth without hesitation. Our comrade, who was very angry at the despicable massacre of 34 of our people in Roboski by the colonialist Turkish state on December 28, 2011, focused on responding by raising his struggle.
Our comrade Sîdar, who successfully completed his basic guerrilla training, had no difficulty in adapting to the guerrilla life with his hardworking and energetic personality, and quickly integrated his unspoiled Kurdistani essence with his comrades and PKK culture, which he received from the society he came from. With his always smiling face, upbeat personality and enthusiastic spirit, he added strength to his comrades around him. Our comrade, who deepened in both the ideological and military fields with the training he received at the academies, enriched what he learned in every environment he was in, by sharing it with his comrades. The fire of resistance created by our party PKK, which developed under the leadership of Rêber Apo, spread rapidly in Kurdistan, which was divided into four parts by the colonialists with artificial borders, and was greeted with great enthusiasm by our people. Our patriotic people, who have not lost their will for a free life despite all the attacks and have always been in resistance, have joined Rêber Apo’s freedom march and revealed the reality of a people walking on the line of victory. Our city of Afrin, one of the most ancient cities of Kurdistan and where Kurdistani values are strongly preserved and lived, has embraced the PKK from the very first day, and has included hundreds of its valiant sons in the ranks of the resistance. Our comrade Zîlan, who opened his eyes to the world in a patriotic family where Kurdistani values are strongly lived, grew up in the tradition of resistance created by the PKK. Our comrade Zîlan grew up in the Rojava Freedom Revolution led by Kurdish women, who achieved victory by resisting against the inhumane ISIS gangs and was shaped by the struggle, was involved in the revolutionary work and served our people. During the attacks launched against Afrin on January 20, 2018 by the invading Turkish state, which wanted to destroy the burgeoning hope of freedom of the oppressed by targeting the Rojava Freedom Revolution, Comrade Zîlan took her gun and rushed to the front line with her comrades to defend the revolution and the values created by the revolution. Our comrade Zîlan, who fought selflessly against the colonialists, got to know the reality of the enemy closely in this process. The Rojava Freedom Revolution developed on the basis of the Rêber Apo philosophy; It has created important changes and transformations in the social sense as well as politically and militarily. The statist mentality dominated by the BAAS regime through oppression and intimidation was replaced by a democratic mentality with the Rojava Freedom Revolution. In the ongoing revolutionary process, he has raised a generation that can think more liberally, have developed social sensitivity, struggle against the false understanding of freedom of the capitalist system, and prioritize social freedom. For this reason, young people from Rojava have fulfilled their pioneering mission by joining the ranks of the struggle against the attacks against our people wherever they are in Kurdistan, especially the Rojava Freedom Revolution.
Our comrade Levent was born in a patriotic family in Qamishlo, which led the Rojava Freedom Revolution. Although he had heard of our Party since his childhood due to the patriotic nature of his family, he had the opportunity to get to know more closely with the development of the Rojava Freedom Revolution. Our comrade Levent, who grew up under the conditions of the revolution and entered the youth process, personally witnessed the intense war that took place for many years. Seeing and witnessing the epic resistance against the regime and gang attacks, the martyrdoms during this resistance, has led to a certain concentration of our comrade Levent. When the time came, he became aware that he too must be an answer to our people’s demand for freedom, and he thought that only in this way could he be worthy of our martyrs who devoted themselves to our people. The war waged against ISIS gangs in many areas, especially in Raqqa, and the martyrdoms experienced during this war have deeply affected our comrade Levent. Aware that the martyrdom can only be earned by taking over their struggle, our comrade Levent decided to join the guerrilla ranks at a martyr’s ceremony and turned his face to the mountains of Kurdistan.
Although he had some difficulties in adapting to the mountain and guerrilla life at first after joining the guerrilla ranks, he managed to overcome these difficulties with a great willpower thanks to the greatness of his aim and his unwavering commitment to the reality of martyrs. Our comrade Levent, who adhered to the right line and method of struggle, became a competent guerrilla by creating important transformations in his personality in a short time. He developed himself in the ideology of the Leadership with the training he received, and had a great effort and effort to reach the personality of Democratic Modernity. Comrade Levent, whose keen intelligence and interest in technique were observed by his comrades during the training process, moved to the technical unit in the Garê area after successfully completing his training. Our comrade Levent, who has been working here for about 3 years, He has made a significant contribution to the creation of the technical infrastructure in his field. His disciplined working style and his constant pursuit of creating the new in his work were taken as an example by his comrades. Again, the depth of comradeship and the feeling of his comrades who are near or far from him revealed an important level of concentration in our comrade Levent.
The invading Turkish state’s attacks on the gains of our people in many places from Rojava to Bakure Kurdistan and the Medya Defense Zones, and the martyrdom of both our people and our comrades in the attacks deeply affected our comrade Levent. Our comrade, who wanted to go to the areas where the war was intense in order to respond to the enemy attacks and to avenge our martyrs, thought that he should train himself within the framework of the restructuring of the guerrilla. On this basis, our comrade, who first received heavy weapons training, later specialized in military means by receiving sabotage training. Our comrade Levent, whose biggest dream is to be with his comrades fighting in the resistance positions against the invasion attacks launched by the colonial Turkish state against the Medya Defense Areas, has insisted on it. In this sense, it has deepened itself not only militarily but also ideologically. He was especially sensitive to the enemy’s policies developed within the framework of special warfare, and he trained his comrades on this basis. Our comrade Levent, who wholeheartedly believes that no enemy’s attack can prevent the victory of our people, has become a source of strength and morale for his comrades with this concentration.
