“The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is fighting with a will that is rare in history against the attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state to occupy the Medya Defense Zones and to conclude its genocidal policy on our people. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, fighting with the Apoist spirit of sacrifice, unwavering will and great courage against the attacks carried out by the invaders using all kinds of prohibited bombs and war techniques, did not hesitate to pay a price for the freedom of our people. Our comrades Özgür Ronî, Armanç Cemre, Avesta Sîpan and Engin Tolhildan, who struggle with this consciousness, emotion and belief in victory, died in the enemy attack that took place in Medya Defense Zones on July 17, 2022.
We commemorate our comrades Özgür, Armanç, Avesta and Engin, who, as the most valuable sons of our people, fulfill their historical duties to our people with great responsibility, with respect and gratitude on their martyrdom anniversary. We express our condolences to all patriotic people of Kurdistan, especially to the esteemed families of our comrades, and reiterate our promise that we will certainly fulfill the lofty goals of our martyrs.

Our comrade Ozgur was born in the Qelqelî district of Wan, in a patriotic family that adheres to social moral principles and values. Our comrade, who is a member of the Milan tribe, grew up with the resistance and epics of the existing tribal tradition. Our comrade, who studied in the district of Qelqelî until his high school education, later had to immigrate to Istanbul as a result of the assimilation and impoverishment policies implemented by the enemy in Kurdistan. He worked in various jobs in order to contribute to the family economy. Our comrade, who always has a sensitive approach to life and his environment, realized in a short time that his labor is not rewarded in his work and that he is exploited by the existing system. He has always been in a questioning and quest against the slavish life imposed by the system. This search and questioning of our comrade Özgür, With the ideology of Rêber Apo, which is an alternative to the capitalist system and based on the brotherhood of peoples, it took him to meet with revolutionary patriotic youth, who took a great responsibility to raise awareness of the societies. After a while, our comrade, who took an active part in youth work, took a conscious and principled stance towards life as he got to know Rêber Apo’s ideology and our party PKK. It actively organized the peoples and youth with the paradigm of Democratic Modernity against the capitalist modernity system. He successfully fulfilled his duties and responsibilities. Our Özgür comrade witnessed the protests and actions that took place in many parts of the world, especially in Kurdistan, against the torture and destruction attack on Rêber Apo in 2007. Our comrade Özgür did not hesitate to fulfill his responsibilities in these developing actions. He has always taken care to be in an attitude in line with the spirit of the process, and did not consider his existing participation sufficient. He decided to increase his struggle against the genocide and destruction attacks in Kurdistan, especially the isolation and torture imposed on Rêber Apo, and joined the guerrilla ranks in 2009, leaving Istanbul.
He moved to the Medya Defense Zones, where he completed his basic guerrilla training and actively participated in the guerrilla life. He shared his practical experiences with his comrades, and made an effort to educate himself and his comrades on this basis. Our veteran, humble and responsible comrade, who sees himself responsible for life, has approached the life of the PKK, whose right is given only with great effort, with a revolutionary militant understanding. Our comrade Özgür, who has been practicing in Zagros for a long time, has constantly trained himself in this field ideologically and organizationally. Under the command of our immortal commanders such as Reşid Serdar and Çiçek Kurtalan, he developed himself in guerrillaism in the Zagros. He fearlessly attacked the invaders by taking his place in the forefront of many actions that developed in this process and in which the invaders received heavy blows, He had a successful practice with his brave and agile aspects. He was a living witness to the massacre in which thirty-six of our comrades were martyred in the attack of the genocidal Turkish state with chemical weapons in the Geliyê Tiyarê area in 2011. He spent every moment of his struggle concentrating to avenge these martyrs. He constantly sharpened his grudge and anger towards the invaders. Stating that he is more devoted to the guerrilla life than anything else, our comrade has participated in all areas of life in a self-sacrificing manner, with the awareness that these opportunities are gained in the concrete of the reality of Rêber Apo and the martyrs. He took care to take a stance worthy of Rêber Apo and our martyrs. To avenge his comrades, he was constantly in search of how to hit the invaders effectively. He was seriously injured in an attack by the invaders while he was on duty in the Medya Defense Zones, and he held on to life with his devotion and joy to life. After receiving treatment for a while, he moved to the Zagros area with the suggestion of participating in practical areas. From Zap to Avaşîn and Xakurkê, he had a breathless struggle in the Zagros, where he had practiced before. Although he had physical difficulties in practical work after being injured, these difficulties did not hinder him, and he became a great example of willpower, not physics, that drives the person. With the belief of crowning the memories of the martyred comrades with victory, he participated in life frankly. After four years of successful practice in the field, he has been in an effort to deepen himself in the ideology and philosophy of Rêber Apo by going to education.

For centuries, the people of Amed have known how to stand upright against all kinds of attacks by the invaders, like its historical walls. Our people of Amed, who have shown the same stance against the attacks of the genocidal Turkish state, have chosen to resist all torture and oppression. The village of Fîs in Licê, where our party was founded, also took a stance equivalent to this honorable stance of Amed. The village of Fîs, which hosted the founding of our party, and the patriotic Zuğurli family have also become one of the most distinguished examples of patriotism in Kurdistan, by paying every price in our struggle for freedom that lasted for half a century. Comrade Armanç, one of our comrades who chose to fight as a requirement of devotion to the memory of the martyrs, was born here due to his family immigrating to Düzce, Turkey due to enemy pressure. Our comrade Armanç, who grew up in a working and patriotic family, managed to preserve her essence despite all the exile, assimilation and genocide policies of the Turkish state. Our comrade Armanç grew up with rebellious characteristics that questioned the system at an early age and did not accept her life. She was in search of a meaningful and alternative life as she grew up, was not content with the given because she came from a patriotic tradition, she read and researched. She started to be interested in revolutionism at an early age. She sided with the labor, the oppressed and the oppressed, the poor and the exploited, and this has been a lifeline for our comrade Armanç. With the joining of a friend of ours, her interest in our Party increased and her questions were answered. Our comrade Armanç expressed the PKK as the answer to all her searches, contradictions and questions and took her place in the ranks of the struggle. In the mountains, which mean more than being a place for the freedom guerrillas, it is integrated with nature, feeling the highest feelings of a free woman. After the training she received, she left youth work and moved to the military field, which she insisted on. Comrade Armanç, who developed herself on the basis of Rêber Apo’s ideology, hated the individualistic personality traits and domination effects created by capitalist modernity. She has embraced the collective and communal values created by Rêber Apo at great cost. She attached great importance to the comradeship that brought us into existence, and took our Leader’s determination as “to be a comrade of comrades means to have a share in the truth represented”. Our comrade Armanç continued her fight against Saraca, Zilanca and Berîtan, and tried to establish herself and her comrades. She based hersefl on continuous sharing in order to make love and knowledge meaningful. She has worked hard to achieve the identity of a free woman, which Rêber Apo says is her dream. She continued her search and struggle to be a wise woman from the mountain without interruption. Comrade Armanç, whose eyes sparkle when we talk about our truth, Rêber Apo, has developed a proposal to join the Hêzên Taybet organization in order to get closer to and reach the truth of our Leader. She carried out important duties and responsibilities with an Apoist style and pace until his proposal was accepted. Our comrade Armanç, who aims to be a true comrade and self-sacrificing militant of Rêber Apo along the line of Zîlan, has been able to achieve this with her participation and stance. She re-formed herself, in her own words, with the trainings she received and the concentrations he experienced by joining the Hêzên Taybet organization. Our Wan people, who sacrificed thousands of their distinguished children for a dignified and free life, have come to a central position in the freedom struggle of our people with this stance. The ancient and patriotic people of Wan knew how to respond to each martyrdom that developed in our war of existence and non-existence with new participations. Coming from such a deep-rooted tradition, our Avesta comrade was born in a patriotic family. Our comrade Avesta, who grew up there after her family settled in Istanbul, has never been able to warm to the metropolitan life that destroys communal values. She stopped studying in the schools of the genocidal Turkish state, which became both centers of systematic assimilation and a place of alienation from moral and social values. After leaving school, she started working in textile factories. In this process, she saw how human labor and in particular women’s labor were exploited. Our comrade Avesta, who has lived through the basic contradictions that every Kurdish individual goes through, has embarked on certain pursuits as a young woman, not accepting the role and mission assigned to women in society, and due to the existing pressures. The fact that he knew our Movement at the level of sympathy before, led our comrade Avesta to direct her searches on the right basis. The Rojava Freedom Revolution, which developed under the leadership of women, had a tremendous impact on our comrade Avesta. Our comrade, who questions, researches, reads and has an endless enthusiasm for learning, made a quick start to her guerrilla life. She was passionately attached to the guerrilla life, every moment of which demands a great struggle. Our comrade Engin was born in a village of Kercos district of Êlih, as a member of a patriotic family. With the development of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in the region, the family of our comrade Engin started to get to know our Party. A short time later, an older brother of our comrade Engin joined the active struggle by joining the militia and was martyred in the enemy attack in 1993. Another brother is in the dungeons of the colonialists because of his activities for the freedom of our people. Our comrade Engin, the youngest member of the family, started to get to know our Party on this occasion. Our Engin comrade showed great interest in the guerrillas, which was a subject of curiosity and mystery for him. These people, who are very different from those around them, have managed to gain a place in the heart of our comrade Engin. Our Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, By proving itself before the society, it turned into a popular movement and gained the character of serhildan. In the 90s, our freedom movement grew like a snowball day by day and became more integrated with our people. The colonialist and genocidal Turkish state has accelerated its genocidal policies starting from those years when it failed with military methods against our Movement. The Turkish state, which was founded on the legacy of the colonialist, massacrer and genocidal Ottoman mentality, which saw its existence in the absence of peoples, became a terrorist state by contracting and ganging up with more special war policies.
