BEHDINAN – The HPG Press Center statement stated the following regarding the 3 guerrillas who were martyred in the Medya Defense Zones:
“The relentless struggle we wage against the invading Turkish army in Kurdistan, especially in the Medya Defense Areas, continues uninterruptedly. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, which broke the enemy’s attacks against the Medya Defense Zones with its resistance on the line of sacrifice, insists on this resistance at the expense of incomparable prices and tries to fulfill the requirements of its promise that it will carry the honorable struggle of our people to victory. Avesta Tekoşîn was martyred in June 2023, and our comrades Bawer Arîn and Zinar Serêçiya in July 2023, in this epic struggle, every moment of which is the scene of great heroism.
We extend our condolences to all our patriotic people of Kurdistan, especially to the esteemed families of our comrades Avesta, Bawer and Zinar, who struggled without blinking their eyes with their deep devotion to the comradeship and reached martyrdom.

Our Avesta comrade was born in Sêrt as a member of a family belonging to the patriotic Didêrî tribe of Botan. Our comrade Avesta, who grew up with the deep-rooted culture of the tribe she belonged to and the strong morality she inherited from her family, became a loved one in and around her family with her mature personality. Our comrade, who felt the enemy’s pressure closely because she lived in Botan, also witnessed the epic struggle of the freedom guerrilla resisting these enemy pressures and massacres in the mountains of Kurdistan. As a sensitive young woman, she realized early on that our people were facing the danger of genocide under enemy occupation. The colonialist Turkish state’s implementation of its genocidal policies with more subtle methods and insistence on continuing the denial of the Kurdish, which is its founding philosophy. For this reason, the fact that it carried out all kinds of immoral practices in Kurdistan caused a great reaction of our comrade Avesta, as well as thousands of Kurdish youth and women. Again, the continuation of discriminatory approaches towards women in society and their support by the state itself became a reason for struggle for our comrade Avesta. For this reason, our comrade Avesta decided that she must take part in the struggle against this genocidal enemy. On this basis, she first took part in some non-governmental organizations that struggle with violence and injustice against women. Later on, she took part in the free women’s movement and revolutionary youth work, increasing her struggle day by day. However, the insistence of the enemy on the policies of oppression and violence on the entire Kurdish society, especially on women and youth, caused our comrade Avesta to look for different methods of struggle. On this basis, our comrade Avesta, who further embodied her concentration and search, felt herself closer to the guerrilla struggle. Particularly, the fact that she joined the guerrilla ranks from the tribe she was a member of and that martyrdom was experienced deeply affected our comrade Avesta and helped her determine her style of struggle. Our comrade Avesta reached a certain level of determination in 2014, decided to turn her face to the Garzan mountains and join the guerrilla ranks in order to practice the concentrations he was experiencing.
Our comrade joined the guerrilla, she had dreamed of for years in Garzan, received her first training there. She received training as a new warrior under the conditions of Bakure Kurdistan and gained years of experience from her comrades. She gained both military and ideological competence with the training she received, was strongly involved in practical work. Our comrade, who was deeply affected by the guerrilla life and the comradely relations of the guerrilla, joined the life alive, excited and enthusiastic as if she were born again. Our Avesta comrade, who values the Apoist principles and measures that determine her comrades and comrade ties above everything else, has become an exemplary YJA Star guerrilla with her militant stance and concise life. Our comrade Avesta, who makes a great effort to educate herself and to make the knowledge she receives from these trainings a part of her life, one by one, she started to get rid of the features created by the male-dominated system and incompatible with the female essence. Our comrade, who realized that she became freer as she got rid of these traditional features that keep women in the status of slavery, showed her insistence on freedom by making these efforts permanent.
Towards the end of 2015, our comrade Avesta moved to Medya Defense Zones after nearly a year and a half of successful Garzan practice. Our comrade, who first participated in the activities in the Heftanîn region in the Medya Defense Areas, responded by effectively participating in the actions carried out in the area where the invading Turkish state developed total destruction attacks against our Movement and our people since July 24, 2015. Our comrade gained the respect and appreciation of her comrades due to her success in these actions and became a pioneer YJA Star militant with her warrior nature as well as her life. Our comrade, who participated in many actions in the field of Heftanî as a commander, not only enabled the enemy to take heavy blows with her successes in these actions, but also gave her comrades courage and confidence. As the enemy gradually scaled up their attacks to liquidate our Movement, our comrade Avesta believed that in order to become a professional guerrilla, each freedom guerrilla should specialize in a branch. On this basis, after two years of successful Heftanîn practice, she trained herself in the heavy weapons branch by participating in the military academies developed for the restructuring of the guerrilla. Our comrade, who developed herself ideologically as well as the military technical education she received, began to deepen in the philosophy of Leadership. As she deepened in the leadership ideology, she began to feel closer to Rêber Apo. Our comrade, who strives to live with Rêber Apo at every moment, felt great anger at the isolation on our Leader, which is deepening day by day. Knowing that he can only be worthy of Rêber Apo and our martyrs by turning this anger into action, this time, our comrade Avesta turned to Xakurkê, the place of Martyr Bêrîtan. Our comrade Avesta, who is an exemplary YJA Star militant with his pioneering participation in the Xakurkê area, succeeded in putting his anger towards the enemy into action by taking part in many actions that dealt great blows to the enemy’s dreams of invasion in this area as well.
Our comrade, who went from Xakurkê to the Metîna area against the liquidation attacks of the enemy against the Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn areas, took part in the mobile guerrilla teams and responded to the enemy attacks. Our comrade Avesta, one of our comrades who led the resistance in many areas of Metîna, especially in Girê Hakkarî; She took her place in our freedom struggle as a leading YJA Star militant with her simplicity in fellowship, her unwavering participation and his great belief in victory.

Our comrade Bawer was born in a family belonging to the Giravi tribe, one of the patriotic and deep-rooted tribes of Kurdistan, who produced many valuable heroes from their hearts and sent them to the freedom struggle of our people. Due to the patriotic revolutionary character of the tribe it belongs to and the city of Wan, where it lives, our party had the chance to get to know the PKK in its childhood. Comrade Bawer, who stood out with his talents in both system schools and sports activities during his youth, always felt the lack of being able to speak his own language freely and living his own culture as he wished. He became aware that the reason for this was the colonial policies and genocide practices carried out in Kurdistan. Knowing well that the only condition for being himself and for our people to have a free future is to fight this colonialism and genocide, our comrade Bawer first set out to fight with his own means. On this basis, our comrade, who left the schools, which are the centers of the genocidal system, thus took his first action. Our comrade, who worked as a shepherd for a while and worked in other jobs for his family’s livelihood, had the opportunity to get to know the phenomenon of labor and the sanctity of labor in this process. The tortures of the colonial Turkish state against our Leader, the fact that the guerrilla waging the freedom war paid the price for our people without hesitation, and the enemy’s attacking our people every day caused our comrade Bawer, an honorable Kurdish youth, to join the ranks of the struggle. On this basis, he first became involved in revolutionary patriotic youth work. Our comrade, who carried out youth activities in Wan and Amed, had a successful practice. Comrade Bawer fought with great patience and self-sacrifice against the immoral policies implemented by the genocidal Turkish state to keep Kurdish youth from the freedom struggle and to make them a burden for the society. Our comrade Bawer, who is a revolutionary consistent with his theory and practice, realized that the current pace of struggle was not the answer to the needs of the period, and decided that he needed to enlarge his struggle even more. Believing that this can only be possible by joining the guerrilla ranks, our comrade Bawer joined the PKK ranks in 2015 and joined the guerrilla by turning his face to the mountains of Kurdistan in 2016.
Comrade Bawer, who received his first training in the guerrilla field in Metîna, quickly adapted to the mountain and guerrilla life. He completed his education successfully, thanks to his clarity of purpose and unwavering participation, and by making the organizational experience he had acquired as a basis for himself. Our comrade, who learned many things in the ideological and military sense during this training process, was able to find the system residues in his personality and overcome them on the basis of Apoist philosophy. Because of this, he earned the respect of all his comrades with his life, participation and sincerity in his fellowship. Our comrade, who has been fighting in the Metîna area for about two years, showed his anger towards the invaders by participating in many actions against the enemy attacks that developed here. Our comrade, who wanted to retrain himself within the framework of the restructuring of the guerrilla after successful guerrilla practice, believed that with the training he received, he could wage a better ideological and tactical struggle against the enemy. For this purpose, he learned to use many weapons that were frequently used in the new struggle period of the guerrilla and caused great fear in the enemy forces. Comrade Bawer, whose quest for hitting the enemy with richer tactics increased as his mastery of these weapons improved, awaited the moment when he would go to practice with great impatience. At the same time, our comrade, who had the opportunity to deepen himself ideologically, had a morale and enthusiastic participation. Our comrade Bawer, who works in different fields for different studies after the training process, He moved to the Metîna area in order to respond to the enemy’s attacks on the Medya Defense Areas. Our comrade, who was part of the mobile teams here, started to lead as a guerrilla expert in the field of land domination and branch, where he had practiced before. Our comrade, who took part in many actions carried out in some areas where the enemy had landed in order to invade, showed once again that the Kurdistan guerrilla will not allow the invasion, by not giving the enemy comfort with his success in these actions.
Comrade Bawer, who devoted every moment of his life to the struggle, was in a relentless war to answer our comrades who resisted in the war tunnels, and to avenge his comrades who were martyred in the enemy attacks, especially in Metina, Zap and Avaşîn. Comrade Bawer, a pioneering Apoist militant with his courage in the war, his dominance in guerrilla tactics and his modesty in life, was martyred in an enemy attack and succeeded in completing the revolutionary struggle at the top.

Our comrade Zinar was born in Hesekê, Rojavayê Kurdistan, in a patriotic family. He recognized our Party from an early age because his family and the people around him were patriotic and sympathized with our party PKK. With the development of the Rojava Freedom Revolution, many of his close relatives joined the ranks of the revolution, and the martyrdom in the war against the gangs deeply affected our comrade Zinar. Again, due to his family being patriotic, many Apoist militants went to their homes and our comrade Zinar saw the Rêber Apo philosophy and its vitalization in the person of these Apoist militants. Our comrade Zinar, who wanted to become an Apoist militant, thought that he should join the ranks of the revolution and joined the Rojava Freedom Forces in 2015 on this basis. Our comrade, who has been working in the field of Rojava for about a year, always dreamed of coming to the mountains of Kurdistan. Our comrade, who believes that the Apoist philosophy is experienced most strongly in the mountains of Kurdistan, wanted to come to the mountains of Kurdistan with great assertiveness and determination. Our comrade Zinar, who is the owner of a style that is focused on his goal and always succeeds, fulfilled this request and turned his face to the mountains of Kurdistan in 2016.
Our comrade Zinar, who had some difficulties at first due to the disadvantage of spending his whole life in the city, asked his comrades questions about mountain and guerrilla life with a great desire to learn and excitement. Believing that deepening in the Rêber Apo philosophy and creating an Apoist personality in himself will affect the success of the revolution march, our comrade Zinar has always made it a priority to educate himself. He believed that only in this way could he get rid of the effects of the capitalist system on him. He also raised awareness that it is possible to become a true Apoist by taking the lives and personalities of our martyrs, who are the creators of the holy PKK life and the inspiration of our people’s freedom, as an example. Our comrade Zinar, who devoted all his efforts to partying on this basis, managed to gain a place in the hearts of all his comrades with his simple personality, Apoist maturity he gained despite being young, and his success in every work he took part in. Our comrade, who always sees himself as indebted to his martyred comrades and is aware that he can only repay this debt by achieving the goals of our martyrs, realized that this requires deepening in the freedom war we are waging against the genocidal Turkish state. On this basis, our comrade Zinar, who wanted to develop himself in the military field and become a competent Guerrilla of Democratic Modernity, specialized in the branch of sabotage. He especially wanted to join himself in the difficult war process in every sense to break the heavy pressure and isolation that has been going on for 25 years on our Leader,
Our comrade Zinar, who wanted to respond to the attacks carried out by the enemy against the Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn areas and to increase the struggle of his comrades resisting in the resistance tunnels, took part in the mobile guerrilla teams and crossed into the resistance areas. Our comrade, who participated in many actions against the enemy in many areas where the enemy is located, felt that he was getting closer to his martyred comrades and our Leader with each blow he inflicted on the enemy. Therefore, he improved himself day by day and continued to hit the enemy with rich style and tactics. Our comrade Zinar, who made the enemy unable to move from his positions with his actions, succeeded in becoming one of the young commanders of our freedom war against the enemy.
