NEWS CENTER – Many texts have been written, many reviews made, but to get the subject right takes more than words, takes more than the word said or written. Because what makes Fedaî special is the action. The action, the plot, the way of life.
Anyone who has experienced this once in their life will understand what is meant. There are situations where someone says I sacrifice myself for you, I will do everything for you, but in reality it is only the spoken word and is not implemented in life, especially in situations where it matters.
This is a situation from social life, but in revolutionary life it is something completely different. Especially in the revolutionary life of the PKK. Because life in the PKK is socialist. In this life everything is done for the Hevals, everything is done to make the Hevals prosper. The individual sacrifices himself for the community, sacrifices himself for society, sacrifices himself for the cause, namely freedom.
The one who leads the way as a pioneer in this sense is Rêber APO. Because he actually did everything for his Hevals, did everything to build this movement, to strengthen it and thus to strengthen society, Kurdish society and the oppressed societies. He not only formed the Hevals, but also society. He organized society and thus built the movement. Because this movement is a social movement. Precisely because Rêber APO was so successful with his struggle and his work, he was captured by the imperial forces of NATO and their supporters through an international conspiracy and is to this day, without any legal basis, in Imrali, the isolation and torture prison for him alone was created, caught. Since February 15, 1999, Rêber APO has been living a life imprisoned in the four walls of the enemy, facing the machinations of the enemy alone without being granted the most basic rights. But he has not stopped fighting, has not given up the resistance and continues to do everything in his power to strengthen the movement to lead the fight for freedom to success. He sacrifices himself every day, every hour, every minute and every second, giving his life to make the fight for freedom a success. It is precisely this quality that has made the fight so successful, from its beginnings until today…
That doesn’t mean running blindly to your death, destroying yourself because you’re going to die anyway. No, that means fighting for life and using every second, no matter how precious, for this fight without thinking of yourself, being selfish, letting time pass, or not seeing yourself responsible.
That’s what makes the PKK so successful, taking responsibility, taking the initiative and, above all, sacrificing oneself for the successful struggle.
Because what the revolutionary life in the PKK has also taught since the beginning is that once one has joined it, it is easy to die, but all the more difficult to defend life and thereby defeat the enemy by staying alive , which beautifies and enlarges life by creating values of life.
Rêber APO has shown this again and again in his resistance and struggle, which has been going on for 50 years now, and made it clear in his person.
That’s why he has such a big influence on the movement, the people, the population, the youth and especially the women.
Because Rêber APO, as a male comrade, has worked so hard for the power of women, making them organize themselves, becoming aware of their own power and strength and leading their struggle in a successful way, he has in the hearts of all women the recognized that, has taken a great place. There is not a second man in the world who has sacrificed himself for women’s freedom in this way.
That is why many women sacrificed themselves for Rêber APO with his role model. Especially in situations where Rêber APO was in a particularly serious situation, the women in the movement proved their connection to Rêber APO and played a pioneering role in it. It doesn’t matter how old the comrade is or was, or how experienced she was within the guerrilla. Whether she met Rêber APO personally or not, because where his writings, especially the defense writings, are read and understood, that is where Rêber APO is.
Heval Zîlan exerted the strongest influence on the movement with her action. Because Heval Zilan, as a comrade who hadn’t been there that long herself, understood the situation in the Rêber APO, understood the enemy’s attacks on him and, with her solidarity with him, gave a strong answer. Heval Zîlan, who blew herself up in the middle of Dersim during a Turkish military parade, killing dozens of occupying soldiers and thus reversing the representation of the enemy into the representation of the strength and power of the free Kurdish woman, has many messages, many important and profound messages given with their action. Because Dersim is also a region in which the enemy raged very severely and cruelly, committed bestial massacres against society and wanted to bring society and the region under his full control.
That is why Rêber APO, in deep admiration for Heval Zîlan’s action, also said: “Heval Zîlan is my commander”. With her action, Heval Zîlan became the line, the benchmark for all Hevals and society. She became a goddess of fire, vengeance and a deep love of freedom.
Your action took place on June 30, 1998 (?), shortly after an attack on Rêber APO in Syria on May 6, which fortunately failed. Heval Zîlan understood the urgency of the situation and gave a strong response, for the enemy but also for the movement and society. With their action and many other events in June, June became Fedaî month. A month in which Fedaî in particular is remembered and renewed along this line. Because Fedaî does not live with words, but in practice and this should be constantly questioned and renewed in order not to follow wrong paths and wrong paths.
Then there is Heval Gulan. Heval Gulan was assassinated in a sneaky act during a women’s conference. With the murder of this comrade, the enemy wanted to destroy the conference to its foundations, deprive the female friends of their morale and strength and block their decision to organize autonomously. Heval Gulan was a strong friend, a determined personality with a strong belief in freedom. Her attachment to Rêber APO was also very strong, which is why she delved into Rêber APO’s ideology and joined the Hezen Taybet of the PKK’s special forces. The special units within the PKK are units of the Fedaî, units that help shape the fight and life along Heval Zilan’s line. So it was not just an attack on a comrade, but an attack on all free women inside and outside the PKK. It was a devious plan carried out by agents and spies. But a plan that didn’t work out. Today, hundreds, thousands of women are continuing on the path Heval Gulan set out on, strengthening the organization of free women, the autonomous organization of women worldwide and joining the special forces of the PKK. Make Fedaî action and follow the legacy left by Heval Gulan and Heval Zîlan.
With this they give the enemy the strongest and most impressive answer, because what was also made clear by this sneaky murder is that the enemy has the greatest fear of the freed woman. Before the power that women can exert once organized. That’s why he tried and tries to this day to prevent the organization of women, the liberation of women, with all possible open and covert methods.
Because there would still be Heval Sema Yüce. Heval Sema Yüce burned herself in the Çanakkale prison walls after such a strong resistance was shown in the Amed torture prison led by Mazlum Dogan, Kemal Pir, Xeyri Durmus and the many others. With her action, Heval Sema opposed the ban on Newroz and thus opposed the ongoing repression and assimilation of the fascist enemy. Because Heval Sema was a fighter for freedom, a Kurdish woman who was ready to fight, weapon in hand, for the freedom of her society, for the free exercise of her own culture and language, for a liberated life. As a woman, she set a groundbreaking example with her action and made it clear that the Kurdish woman, once she has gained the power of her consciousness, will do everything to maintain her culture and freedom, to remain connected to her roots and not to the dirty ones to let in the enemy’s games. Sema Yuce also became a line and with Fikri Baygeldî, who also ignited admiration for Sema’s action, became a role model for his male friends as well.
But as I said, Fedaî does not just live in a single action, Fedai is a way of life and should be practiced in every moment of life. Fedaî is an attitude, an ideological attitude that always has the goal in mind, never loses sight of it and is ready, if necessary, to do everything for it with deep determination and conviction.
The fact that women in particular are able to represent this attitude in the right way has made the reality in the PKK clear and shows once again the true and historical role of women in society. Because the woman who gives, develops and builds up life with her actions and deeds is also willing, if necessary, to sacrifice herself for it. The life that can also be called life. The life worth living. The life that attains beauty through woman’s love, her determination and struggle, through her awareness and sacrifice. A beauty that cannot be compared with the standards of capitalist modernity, the meaningless shells. No, a beauty that shines because it has been fought for, because it carries the meaning of the millennia-old mother goddess, the goddess of battle and love.
