The two youth cadres have led, especially the Kurdish youth in Europe, and left them a legacy. A legacy that says, despite the distance to your homeland, to always remain true to your homeland, to swear revenge on the occupiers and to fight for freedom no matter what.
As the coordination of the then Ciwanên Azad explained on the second anniversary of their martyrdom,
“Comrades Çekdar and Lecwan have never really seen the simplified material life of capitalist modernity for themselves, they have always dreamed of finally getting to the Mountains of Freedom. The most outstanding characteristic of both comrades is their connection to the earth of Kurdistan and the Mountains of Freedom and they have this mentioned them very often. They believed in the philosophy of Chairman Abdullah Öcalan and became self-sacrificing and remained committed to their last breath.”
The youth of Europe in particular have taken their example from them and see their legacy as a fundamental source of strength, because through their work and effort they have strengthened youth organizations in Europe and brought them to the present day. Even after they fell Şehîd, they gave morale and strength to the Kurdish youth and the task of the Kurdish youth today is to continue their struggle, keep their memory alive and realize their dream of a free life.
Neither Heval Lecwan nor Heval Çektar doubted for a moment and resolutely believed in the revolution with all their heart. So it is a promise of the youth to take revenge for their martyrdom and finally to physically free Rêber APO.
