“On 1 June, new terrorism legislation, the so-called Erdogan laws, came into force in Sweden. The new laws mean in practice that the most outrageous points of the Memorandum of Understanding between Finland, Sweden and Turkey have been written into law. “Belonging to a terrorist organisation” is now criminalised in Sweden, and their conception of terrorism comes directly from Ankara. According to Turkey, all activities that support or are in favour of PKK, i.e. the entire Kurdistan Liberation Movement, constitute terrorism. The work of Swedish Kurdistan Liberation Movement activists and their supporters are under serious threat.
