BEHDINAN – The PKK Bashur Martyrs’ Families Committee made a statement and announced that Zîlan Bokan (Araziye Hesen Hemed Xidir) was martyred on 17 January 2011 in the Medya Defense Zones.
Emphasizing that the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle has reached the present day by paying a heavy price, the following statements were included: “Even today, genocidal attacks are being carried out against our people and our country from all sides. The enemy is even afraid of the bones of our martyrs. It uses all kinds of inhumane methods to erase our martyrs from our collective memory. Just as the martyrs and their memories were protected from the very beginning, today we will protect the martyrs in line with the PKK and Leader Apo. One of our friends who fell martyrs for a free country and life is Zîlan Bokan. We would like to express our condolences to the family of Zîlan, who was martyred in the Medya Defense Zones on January 17, 2011, and to our patriotic people. We reiterate our promise to fulfill the dreams of our martyrs.”
FIGHT AGAINST BAŞUR’S OCCUPATION FOR YEARS
The statement stated that Martyr Zîlan Bokan, who was born in Rewanduz in 1989, joined the guerrilla ranks in 2002, and stated: “Friend Zîlan wanted to be a pioneer in building the freedom of the Bashure Kurdistan society. She took charge in many fields such as Xakurkê, Metîna, Heftanîn. She studied at the Martyr Bêrîtan and Martyr Nûda Academies. She was constantly trying to improve himself. She wanted to realize her dreams of freedom by turning her direction to the mountains against the imposition of a conservative society. Like every freedom guerrilla in Kurdistan, your friend Zîlan’s dream was to end the occupation of the country’s lands. She fought for many years to realize this dream.
Our friend Zîlan Bokan was martyred on 17 January 2011 in Medya Defense Zones. In the person of our friend Zîlan, we respectfully commemorate all freedom guerrillas and reiterate our promise to make their dreams come true. As the smiles of free women shine in the mountains of Kurdistan, freedom will definitely win.”
