BEHDÎNAN – The co-president of the Executive Council of the KCK issued a statement on the anniversary of the assassination of Şêx Said and his friends. Şêx Said was executed by the occupying Turkish state in 1925 as the leader of the Dersim uprising with his supporters.
In the statement, the KCK made it clear that Kurdish society will never forget Şêx Said and the other Şehîds, saying:
“As the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, we commemorate again Şêx Said and his fallen friends on the anniversary of their execution. As daughters and sons of Şêx Said and his friends, Seyit Rıza and Besê, Alişêr and Zarife, we declare that we will succeed in the struggle for which they gave their lives. The people of Kurdistan will prevent the policy of Kurdish genocide from reaching its goal by resisting all kinds of attacks and liquidation plans of the AKP-MHP government and by further intensifying the struggle, and they will end the genocidal colonialism and the collaborationist treason that the supported, defeated.”
KURDISH SOCIETY WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR WORK AND SACRIFICE
The KCK statement made the following clear: “The genocidal colonialist Turkish state committed a great massacre with the execution of Şêx Said and his friends on June 29, 1925. We commemorate all Şehîds of revolution and democracy in the person of Şêx Said and his friends with great respect and gratitude and reiterate our promise that we will uphold the memory of the Şehîds and lead their struggle to victory.
Şêx Said and his friends have resisted the denial of Kurdish existence and identity by the newly established Turkish state and the betrayal and injustice done to Kurdish society and fought for the freedom of Kurdish society. They continued this struggle no matter what, remaining committed to the values they fought for to the end. Her stance in the face of the threat of execution by the Kurdish enemy’s genocidal regime demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the Kurdistan cause. WITH THE EXECUTION OF ŞÊX SAİD THE PROCESS OF THE MASSACRE OF THE KURDS BEGAN
With the Treaty of Lausanne, the 100th anniversary of which we are celebrating, a new state based on Turkishness was established, Kurdistan was divided and fragmented, and Kurdish society was led into a process of denial and annihilation. The state newly established on the basis of Turkishness has set itself the realization of the genocide of the Kurds as its main goal. As part of this goal, policies of assimilation and genocide were pursued in Kurdistan, the language, identity and culture of Kurdish society were banned, and the identity of Turkishness was imposed on Kurdish society. Undoubtedly, Kurdish society did not accept this persecution and injustice and resisted this imposition. However, the Turkish state resorted to violence and massacres. The Turkish state started the massacres in Kurdistan on the grounds that many Kurdish figures like Şêx Said and his friends were against the division of Kurdistan and the persecution and injustice towards Kurdish society. When Şêx Said and his friends took a stand against this injustice and demanded the rights of the Kurdish population in 1925, the Turkish state attacked Şêx Said and his friends, who were defending the freedom of Kurdish society, had them executed and committed a great massacre. With this date the process of massacre against Kurdistan was initiated. The execution of Şêx Said and his friends is of historical importance as it reveals the character of the newly established state and its attitude towards the Kurds. Rêber APO explained,

The Turkish state, which has recognized that the genocide of the Kurds cannot take place without the destruction of the Kurdistan freedom movement, has mobilized all its forces for the liquidation of the Kurdistan freedom movement since that day. KURDISTAN SOCIETY WILL HOLD THE TRAITORS TO ACCOUNT
Just as in the past when Şêx Said and his friends were imprisoned by a conspiracy and then executed and the process of massacre in Kurdistan was initiated, today the massacre and genocide policy of the AKP-MHP government is carried out with the support of treacherous and collaborating performed by Kurdish elements. For the sake of wealth and material wealth, these treacherous groups support the state that denies Kurdish society, bans its language, identity and culture and commits genocide against it, and the AKP-MHP that governs this state. Undoubtedly, the world-aparêze society of Kurdistan has condemned and defeated the treacherous and collaborative understanding in an absolute sense. It has gained this awareness and wisdom in half a century of struggle. Today, because of this attitude of Kurdish society, the traitorous elements who have sold their honor and are on the side of the AKP-MHP try to cover up the treachery they are involved in, trying to present themselves as Kurdish or nationalist. The only thing they are doing is attacking the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and trying to weaken the freedom struggle. While Kurdistan is under enemy attack and occupation every day, while the young daughters and sons of this society resist every day and Şehîd falls, while Rêber APO in Imrali is under absolute isolation and torture, while Rojava and Shengal are under attack every day, while dozens of Welatparêz are arrested and imprisoned for this cause every day while society is kept under great pressure, these treacherous groups live in great prosperity and comfort. You have no price to pay, no loss to mourn. So how can you speak of Kurdishness and national ties with them? It is quite clear that they have nothing to do with Kurdishness, Welatparêzî and national ties. Their Kurdishness and their national ties are completely fake. They’re just trying to hide their treachery with these veils. You are not Kurdish, welatparêz or nationally connected if you side with the genocidal colonialist state and the AKP-MHP that governs the state, but if you stand against sides with society and defends the values of freedom. Today in Kurdistan the welatparêze attitude and the treacherous attitude are separated by thick lines. In Kurdistan there is no longer any reason to hide betrayal with such masks. The welatparêze society of Kurdistan knows very well the traitors who try to hide their reality with masks and of course they will hold the traitors accountable.
As the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, we commemorate again Şêx Said and his friends on the anniversary of their execution. As daughters and sons of Şêx Said and his friends, Seyit Rıza and Besês, Alişêr and Zarifes, we declare that we will succeed in the struggle for which they gave their lives. By resisting all kinds of attacks and liquidation plans of the AKP-MHP government and by further intensifying the struggle, the society of Kurdistan will prevent the policy of Kurdish genocide from reaching its goal, and will end the genocidal colonialism and collaborationist treason that support him, defeat him.”
