BEHDINAN – In the statement made by the KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency, it was emphasized that the attacks and massacres by the Turkish state continued and the isolation on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan was aggravated during the process of inaction that has continued for more than four months.
Drawing attention to the murder of Hüseyin Arasan in Silêmanî, the statement said, “The AKP-MHP fascism has launched a new wave of attacks against our Movement and our people. Against this wave of fascist attacks, the need for active struggle and striking the enemy has become inevitable everywhere. We state that we have terminated the decision of inaction that we have taken due to all these reasons as of today.
The statement released by the KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency is as follows:
“As it is known, on February 6, 2023, two major earthquakes occurred in Elbistan and Pazarcık. After we realized that the consequences of the earthquake were very serious, we, as the Movement, decided not to take action until this grave humanitarian situation was over, as a requirement of our humanitarian and moral responsibility, and announced our decision to the public. We called on all our forces, and on the revolutionary democratic forces outside of us, not to take action, especially in the cities, for the same reason. Our People’s Defense Forces, in a statement to the public based on this call, stated that they have stopped their actions and will not take any action other than self-defense in the face of attacks during this process. HPG and all its military units have complied with this decision taken by our Movement.
While the heavy impact of the earthquake was still continuing, Türkiye entered an election process. In this election, which is considered important by both the people of Kurdistan and the Turkish society, we took the stance of prolonging the inaction decision we took until the end of the elections in order to remove the grounds for provocation by the fascist AKP-MHP government and to result in the election in favor of the peoples and democratic forces, and we shared this stance with the public. Undoubtedly, as the Movement, we defend and fight for the democratic political solution of the Kurdish problem and the democratization of Turkey. In this respect, our stance has also been a support given to politics and the political process.
Undoubtedly, our people, patriotic and democratic friendly Kurdish organizations, many personalities, the democratic forces of Turkey, many powers and institutions from the region and the international arena and the democratic public saw this decision positively and supported it. However, the Turkish state and AKP-MHP government have nullified our decision by increasing the invasion, liquidation and genocidal attacks. The fascist AKP-MHP government never stopped its attacks throughout this process, continued its orientation towards guerrilla areas, and continued to use banned weapons. Apart from the guerrilla areas, it continued to increase its attacks and massacres against Kurds in Başûr, Şengal, Maxmur and Rojava. It has also increased its attacks on the people and democratic politics in Turkey and Bakure Kurdistan. He continued the isolation on Leader Apo by aggravating it. In short, the fascist AKP-MHP government has deepened its attacks against our Movement and our people within the scope of the concept of liquidation and genocide, further deepening the isolation on Leader Apo.
Despite the increasing attacks of the Turkish army throughout this process, the guerrilla was in a position in line with the decision we took, but the increasing attacks of the AKP-MHP government rendered this decision meaningless. The opposition in Turkey has not taken an approach that will respond to this attitude, which means contributing to the humanitarian, conscientious and political process, and has not been able to show its difference from the government by maintaining its nationalist and narrow approach. Despite this decision we have taken as part of our humanitarian and moral responsibility and to prevent provocations during the election process and to contribute to the development of the political ground, the attacks and massacres against our forces and our people have continued increasingly for more than four months, and the isolation on Leader Apo has further aggravated. The AKP-MHP fascism has launched a new wave of attacks against our Movement and our people, as it was revealed in the murder of revolutionary Comrade Baran Avrêl (Hüseyin Arasan) in Sulaymaniyah. Against this wave of fascist attacks, the need for active struggle and striking the enemy has become inevitable everywhere. Due to all these reasons, we state that we have terminated the decision of inaction as of today.
It is now better seen by everyone that no development can take place without the destruction of AKP-MHP fascism. On the basis of this reality, everyone, especially our people and revolutionary democratic forces, should further increase the struggle against the fascist AKP-MHP government.”
