BEHDINAN – HPG Press Liaison Center (HPG-BİM) said in a written statement, “The invading Turkish army’s attacks against our forces and resistance areas in Medya Defense Zones continue.”
BOMBED 110 TIMES IN 48 HOURS
In the statement, the following information was given: “In the last two days, the Medya Defense Areas were bombarded 15 times with warplanes, 2 attack helicopters, and 93 times with howitzers and tanks. In addition, our resistance positions in the Martyr Delîl West Zap and East Zap regions were attacked with ladles. There has been 6 contact between our forces and the invaders in the Girê FM Resistance Area.”
HPG-BİM gave the following details:
Martyr Delîl West Zap region;
- On June 6, at 07:30, the invaders in the Girê FM Resistance Area took action and attacked our forces, and our forces responded with heavy weapons and stopped the movement of the invaders. On the same day, between 09:50 and 12:30, there were 5 contact between the invaders and our forces, who took action again, and the movement of the invaders was stopped. Later, the Resistance Area was bombed 74 times with howitzers and tanks.
The attacks carried out by the invading Turkish army;
- On 6 June, the Girê Amediyê Resistance Area of the Martyr Delîl West Zap region and the Sîda Resistance Area of the East Zap region were bombed 19 times with howitzers and tanks.
- On 6 June, the Sîda Resistance Area of the Eastern Zap region was bombed twice by combat helicopters.
- On 6 and 7 June, Gire Sîser, Deriyê Hirçê, Gunde Sêdarê, Gire Dola Meranê, Gunde Dereşê areas of the Garê region 11 times, Gire Spring Resistance Area of the Martyr Delîl West Zap region, Gire Amadiyê Resistance Areas 3 times, Gire Carçel area of the Metina region 1 time. It was bombed with warplanes for a total of 15 times.
- The invading Turkish army attacked our positions in the Girê FM Resistance Area of the Western Zap region on June 6, and our positions in the Sîda Resistance Area of the East Zap region on June 6 and tried to destroy them with scoops and crushers.”
ZERDESH BAŞURI WAS MARTYRED
“Our comrade Zerdeşt Başûrî, who participated in the freedom struggle of our people with a high national consciousness, was martyred on May 24, 2023 in the Martyr Delîl West Zap Region. Our comrade Zerdeşt, who joined the ranks of the resistance from Silêmanî at a time when the genocidal attacks against our people were at their peak, gave the most meaningful response to these attacks by fighting on the front lines in many areas from the Rojava Freedom Revolution to the Media Defense Areas, as a ruthless revolutionary. Our comrade Zerdeşt, who participated in a self-sacrificing way, became the owner of a life that all Kurdish youth will take as an example, by participating without hesitation, knowing that freedom in Kurdistan does not come without a price.
We extend our condolences to the people of Bashurê Kurdistan and all the patriotic people of Kurdistan, especially his precious family, who raised a revolutionary who is loyal to national values like our comrade Zerdeşt and brought him to the freedom struggle of our people. In the person of our comrade Zerdeşt, we promise that we will definitely realize the dreams of our martyrs of Free Leadership and Free Kurdistan.
Known as one of the most important centers of enlightenment and culture in Kurdistan, Silêmanî also has an important place in the history of our people’s freedom with the resistances it has developed. Our city of Silêmanî, which started to lead the resistance with the serhildans it developed since the beginning of the 19th century, when the plans for the disintegration of our country Kurdistan were made, has continued this resistance uninterruptedly until today. This resistance, which was developed under the leadership of Şêx Mahmud Berzencî, continues uninterruptedly today in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle with his grandchildren. Just as the forces that wanted to invade and divide our country Kurdistan, saw all kinds of massacres and inhumane practices for our people in order to achieve their goals, Our people also insisted on resisting at all costs in order to protect human dignity and ensure freedom. Our people of Bashure Kurdistan, which was wanted to be captured by Anfal, Helebçe and many other massacres and genocide practices, remained faithful to the memory of hundreds of thousands of martyrs and did not give up their struggle. Although the groups that should have taken the lead have failed our people every time, our people have always kept the hope of freedom alive and have not stopped fighting and fighting until they reached their freedom.
