Our forces, who fought selflessly by shielding their bodies against all attacks, are defending every inch of Kurdistan’s lands with great will. Responding to the invasion attacks of the colonial Turkish army with an unprecedented resistance, our forces declared that they would abide by the inaction decision taken by our Movement, following the Mereş-Bazarcix-centered earthquake on February 6, 2023, and complied with it for a period of approximately 4 months.
As a result of the great destruction caused by the earthquake, despite this decision, which was taken on a humanitarian basis and aimed at our people to heal their wounds with the spirit of solidarity, the invading Turkish army continued its attacks under the control of the fascist AKP-MHP regime and the executor of the dirty private war, Hulusi Akar. The invading Turkish army bombed all the areas where the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is located and the guerrilla resistance areas, especially the Medya Defense Areas, with warplanes, attack helicopters, howitzers, mortars, tanks and artillery many times, and committed war crimes by bombing the guerrilla resistance positions with chemical and prohibited weapons. . The colonialist Turkish army developed extensive operations, especially in Bakurê Kurdistan, with the participation of hundreds of invaders and contras, using all kinds of technical means throughout May.”
THE INVASIVE TURKISH ARMY COMMITTED A WAR CRIME
The HPG statement stated:
“The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla maintained its position despite all the attacks, responded to the invaders on the basis of self-defense, and as a result, there were many contacts. The colonial army, which wanted to get results by using all the technical means at its disposal, could not break the resistance of our forces.
The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, who resisted the colonialists in every area from Bakur to the Medya Defense Areas and did not allow the occupation and the invaders, starting with Haki Karer with the spirit of resistance of the Martyrs of May, to Halil Çavgunlar, to the Resistance of the Four in Amed Dungeons, to Hozan Mizgîns’ It has raised the line of struggle reaching the world by owning it. Our comrades, who sacrificedly resisted against the colonialists who dreamed of destroying the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla in Bakur, gave the necessary response to the invaders in Merdîn, Amed and Botan, in line with the Martyrs of May and in the spirit of the June 1st Move.
The colonialist Turkish army, helpless against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, committed war crimes by bombing the Guerrilla Resistance Posts, where our forces were located, 8 times with banned bombs and chemical weapons throughout May.
- In addition, the resistance positions in the Medya Defense Zones were bombed 126 times with warplanes, 11 times with attack helicopters, 435 times with mortars, howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons. Contact was made during the attacks carried out by the invaders, 54 invaders were killed and 2 invaders were injured in the clashes. 13 of our comrades were martyred in the enemy attacks.
The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, the name of our people’s insistence on a free future and dignified life, dealt heavy blows to the invaders by shedding their blood drop by drop, Leyla Sorxwinler’s struggle has once again shown to the whole world that the hope for freedom in Kurdistan can never be destroyed. Our comrades Bahoz Çiya, Dilgêş Zagros, Bawer Korkmaz, Dilşêr Çiyareş, Bawer Med, Rênçber Givara, Şerger Caf and our Apoist militants who joined the caravan of martyrs in the Medya Defense Zones, Egîd Özgür, Diyarbakir, Viyano Our comrades Botan Zagros, Bawer Zaza and Canşêr Adar became immortal by resisting on the line of victory.
The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, which has grown by inheriting the legacy of struggle of our martyrs, will certainly carry the cause of our people’s rightful freedom to victory.”
