Expressing that the solution to the Kurdish problem is the main problem for them, Karayılan said, “Democracy is also necessary for the solution of this problem. The addressee of the Kurdish question is the state, not the parties. In other words, our interlocutor is the Turkish state. For this reason, we do not have a problem of being hostile or friendly to the parties in the system. Because our interlocutors are clear. For example, if the government had changed now, the same thing would have happened before us. Because this is a state policy.”
Stating that the Kurdish people will continue their struggle much stronger, Karayılan said, “We represent a reality. Kurdistan is a reality in Turkey. The Kurdish people are a reality. The existence of the PKK and the guerrilla is a reality. They cannot be ignored or eliminated. They cannot ignore the reality of Leader Apo, guerrilla and Kurdish-Kurdistan. This is so. For 40 years they have wanted to destroy us; Every year, they say, ‘We will finish this year, we will succeed’, but nothing changes. If common sense prevails and there is a change, Leader Apo is in Imrali. He was interviewed 27 months ago and in a previous interview he stated that he could solve this problem in a week. So if they want a solution, Leader Apo is there. But if they want to reach the end by killing Kurdish youth, we will not allow it and we will defeat them. The basic tactical depth created by the resistance and the right style captured are a clear indication that we will win. We believe this to the end; our people and our friends should also believe. Just as we have stopped the enemy so far, we will win from now on,” he said.

How can the meaning and importance of the June 1 Initiative be defined?
First of all, I congratulate the 1st June Initiative to Leader Apo, all the peoples of Kurdistan, friends of the people of Kurdistan, all comrades, employees, all Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla and fighters. All the martyrs of the June 1, 2004 Breakthrough; From Erdal, Adil and Nûda to Fazıl Botans, Egîd Civyans, Delal Ameds, Yaşar Botans and Leyla Amed, I commemorate with respect; I bow respectfully before their memory. I repeat once again the promise of comradeship we made to them, and I state that I will abide by this promise to the end.
The June 1 Leap Forward refers to the continuation of the August 15 Leap Forward and a second August 15 Leap Forward. August 15 prevented the destruction of the Kurdish people and brought the Kurdish problem to the solution table. But against this the International Conspiracy took place. On the other hand, the June 1 Initiative played a historic role in preventing the damage caused by the International Conspiracy and solving the Kurdish problem.
JUNE 1st MOVE AGAINST LIQUIDATION ATTEMPTS
As it is known, after the International Conspiracy that took place on February 15, 1999, Leader Apo put on the agenda to stop the war in order to prevent the provocations, to nullify the International Conspiracy in connection with the movement and to develop the infrastructure of a political solution, and he announced this in August 1999. . In general, the process of stopping the war, which we can call a ceasefire, continued for 5 years. In this process, although the Turkish state killed many of our friends by ambushing in front of our retreating friends at the beginning, no weapons were detonated or a war was waged by us for the next 5 years. Again in Imrali, Leader Apo displayed a wide variety of efforts. Conducted interviews; put resolution declarations on the public agenda; He wrote letters to the Turkish authorities; He drew the conditions for the development of the solution to a very reasonable extent. However, despite all this, the Turkish state did not come to a solution. On the contrary, the AKP government, which came to power at that time, was given the role of eliminating the Kurdish problem by liquidating it. The AKP has already come to power as a project. For this reason, AKP President Tayyip Erdogan said, ‘There is no Kurdish problem if you don’t think about it’. The purpose of this breakthrough was to warn the state and bring it to the table. So he was aiming for a solution. For this, some activities were developed within the framework of active defense. Their actions were to a certain extent. This played a role for a period. In fact, Tayyip Erdoğan came to Amed in 2005 and said, ‘There is a Kurdish problem; is also our problem; He made evaluations such as ‘we will solve it’ and made promises. This is how they wanted us to make a ceasefire. In that context, a ceasefire took place in 2006. With 2008, the Oslo negotiations started; Our delegation and the delegation of the Turkish state held meetings in Oslo, negotiations were held. But it has been understood once again from all of them that they want to make such processes the basis of a special war, and not to develop the solution, but to liquidate us by spreading the solution over time, to leave our people without will, that is, they want to insist on the policy of genocide. That’s what it looked like.
With the positive results obtained from the 2009 local elections, we declared a ceasefire. That ceasefire was still in effect in 2010. At that time, once again, Leader Apo warned both the state and the movement that it would not work in this way, and perspectives were presented. On this basis, the perspective that ‘if the state does not come to a solution, we will go to a solution based on our own strength, but if the state comes against us, we will respond with the perspective of the Revolutionary People’s War, we will base the solution, there is no other way’ became concrete. In this framework, a new process in the form of a move developed on June 1, 2010.
In fact, the June 1st Movement consists of two stages in itself. The second stage is also very important. Because he declared a period that we call the 4th Strategic Period, in which we developed our own solution, in which no one could count our people as involuntary, and played its role on this basis. In this context, our struggle has come so far. Here 19 years have passed. Many periods have passed since the breakthrough. In the last 8 years, the Turkish state has declared a comprehensive war against us with a new concept under the leadership of AKP-MHP-Ergenekon. They have been fighting for 8 years and still this war and this period continues. Of course, our people gain strength from the June 1 Initiative and continue their resistance. If the June 1st Leap Forward had not taken place on time, then the International Conspiracy would have had a result, and in fact, they would have liquidated our movement and massacred our people. If we now say, ‘The International Conspiracy was stopped, it was inconclusive and the struggle for freedom got stronger’, the basis of this is the efforts of our heroic martyrs, who started with the June 1 Initiative and came to this day, the resistance of our people, and the stance and struggle of Leader Apo. In this way, we have come to this period.
JUNE 1 JUNE BROUGHT POLITICAL AND SOCIAL GAINS
The political gains of the June 1 Initiative are widely known. Besides, what military gains did this breakthrough bring?
As I stated, if there was not the June 1st Leap Forward, there would be nothing left. Because the enemy is ruthless and wants to eliminate us, to destroy the identity of our people. In this sense, the political and social gains of the breakthrough are many.
As for the military; Before the June 1st Leap Forward, HPG had held its First Conference and decided to restructure. So June 1 was welcomed with the Restructuring Project. It can be stated that the period of the June 1st Leap Forward passed with the renewal of the guerrilla. Because after the breakthrough, the renewal of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla came to the fore three more times. In other words, the guerrilla renewed itself with each passing day. Undoubtedly, especially after 2000, technology has always progressed and this affected the war. Within the framework of Leader Apo’s perspectives interpreting the era, it can be stated that the guerrilla command read the era on time, and for this reason, its agenda was constantly renewed.
If we consider it since August 15; Much has changed in the guerrilla. In other words, there has been a deepening and a rise in many aspects. First of all, an ideological-philosophical deepening was created, a deepening was experienced in the guerrilla. Egîdization, Zîlanization, that is, the spirit of sacrifice was very high. For example, this has emerged in all the resistances that took place this year and last year. In other words, a very high self-sacrificing spirit developed in the guerrilla. Besides that, combat performance and expertise have improved a lot. Every guerrilla is also an expert and a bouncer. On this basis, team warfare based on expertise in the field has been developed. This is a regeneration and a precaution against the enemy’s technique-based attacks.
THE ENEMY CANNOT ADVANCE IN THE ZAP FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS
After that, the most important underground war was developed. Undoubtedly, this developed as a result of research and preparation. It did not happen spontaneously or because it was forced, it did not enter our agenda. No. Because the theoretical and practical preparation for this goes back ten years. As it is known on this basis, tunnel warfare tactic, mobile team warfare in the field based on expertise has been applied since 2021.
There was also specialization in different techniques based on their own possibilities. Air forces were established in the guerrilla and now they are also fighting with the air forces. In other words, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla today does not only fight above ground like the old-classic guerrilla. He fights expertly above ground, also fights underground, and now improves his military level in the sky. In this way, he gained a level and a power. These are important military gains for us. With these methods, it has been proven that free lands can be defended, the enemy can be nullified and stopped. This is evident in Zap. The enemy has not been able to advance in Zap for these last 2 years. This has also been proven in practice, and on this basis conviction and belief have developed.
This situation strengthened the spirit of sacrifice in our comrades. The war was a war of the bouncers; reached a peak. The level of the guerrilla showed everyone, friend or foe, that the guerrilla is an invincible force.
A STRONG FEMALE COMMANDER IN BOTAN
In this last period, the martyrdom of Leyla Sorxwîn was declared. Before that, Yaşar Botan’s friend was martyred in Dersim. We are entering June again. What do you think about the martyrs of June and these martyrs in general?
June is the month of martyrs. I commemorate all our June martyrs and all our martyrs in the person of Gulan, Sema and Zîlan, and bow respectfully before their memories. I repeat once again the promise we made to them.
In our struggle, many beautiful, valuable and honorable people have appeared on the stage of history. Of course, many of them are martyrs. One of these friends is Leyla Sorxwîn -we call her Leyla Amed-.
It was the beginning of May 1997. I had come to Heftanîn for a mission and had to return to Botan again. We were a group of friends. Our number was about 45 people. But there were many sensitivities and crises in the region. Again, there was information that the enemy could attack at any time. Everyone was on the alert; There was a situation of descent. Some roads were also closed. For this reason, a pioneer who knew the way had to come with us to Judi, to the other side of the Hezil Suyu. At that time, the commander of that line was Comrade Reşit Serdar. He sent me information and said, “I am sending you a friend who knows the way well; he will take you to the other side of the water and take you to Judi.” We were waiting for that friend to come. I looked suddenly, a young short woman friend came. He said that he came from the side of your old friend. I said, ‘You know, a friend would come and lead us.’ To me, ‘That friend is mine,’ he said. I asked, “Can you take us to Judi now?”; ‘It’s true,’ he said. I saw that he was speaking in a very self-confident manner, so I said ‘ok then get ahead of us’ and we set off.
This is how we met Leyla friend. Friend Leyla knew the road we were going to go step by step, stone by stone. She made no mistakes and successfully got us to the other side; then she returned to her place. When She asked him what his job was, she replied that he was a squad commander. She was the squad leader in the mobile battalion. He stayed in that battalion for many years and after that I got to know him very well. The mobile battalion was the combat battalion. Wherever there was an attack, if the load was heavy, they would go there. Friend Leyla took part in many comprehensive actions in Botan during all that practice of the ’90s. She took part in many attacks, she. She played an important role as a commander. He was a very sincere, very sincere, very honest, very respectful, very high moral, well-mannered friend, who did not break his promise, based on honesty, and was loved by all friends in this sense. Everyone wanted Leyla friend to be by their side. So she was like a gem. Indeed, it is very important for a Kurdish woman to lead with such courage, determination and fearlessness. These are very important and honorable virtues.
HE WAS A FRIEND LIKE AN ANGEL
Friend Leyla remained in guerrilla practice for about 31 years. I know all of his practice, except for his first few years in Judi. Just like Friend Fazil, no criticism has developed against him, nor has he been involved in any investigation. For example, he did not receive a single bit of criticism, especially regarding his life. His life was very dignified, very valuable and exemplary. He was just like an angel. As angels were, so was he. I said ‘he was like an angel’ for a single friend before. She was also a friend of Nûda Karker. In fact, an angel is also a friend of Leyla Amed. Of course, all our female pioneer friends are like this, but I define these friends as I know them very well. Otherwise, many friends are like that. In other words, with its size, style, practices, actions,
For example, in 2011, Iran attacked Qandil. A war broke out between friends and Iran. Friends called it the Spy War. Iran could not pass the Casusan Strait. There were 3 people who played a command level role in that war. Since the other two friends had been martyred before, we explained them. One of them was Simko and one of them was Fazil. Leyla Amed was a friend who was third and mainly complemented them and played a role in the war. Your friend Leyla has many practices like this. The last Botan practice, in which five years passed, is likewise a great sacrifice. As a PKK Central Committee Member, HPG and YJA STAR Command Council Member, and Botan Field Commander, he made great efforts. It was a force, a will, in leading and carrying out the work. He was a small, young friend, but he was a gem; His heart was wide, he was faithful, he had a stance. As long as there are such Kurdish girls and this movement creates such personalities, the Kurdish people will not be defeated as long as this people brings out such strong-willed and high-measured girls. This is so.
YAŞAR BOTAN HAS HIGH MEASURES IN SACRIFICE, COURAGE, HONESTY AND SINCERITY
I know Yaşar Botan’s friend very well. He is a friend from Botan, from the Zêwkî tribe. His family is in Maxmur. He was brought up in the Maxmur culture. He had studied there. As a matter of fact, as a young friend, he also had a high standard with his honest, clean and moral approach. He went to Dersim in the past and stayed there for 6 years. He came later and stayed with me for 3 years as security commander. He received the necessary training. He loved Dersim very much, he was almost in love with Dersim. The only thing left is that Yaşar friend did not go on a hunger strike to go to Dersim. Other than that, he resorted to many methods. He wrote a report, made suggestions constantly and tried very hard to go to Dersim by all means. In the end, he left. He and Yılmaz Dersim went together as a friend. Both friends were very attached to each other. After that, friend Yılmaz was martyred,
Yaşar Friend had high standards of self-sacrifice, courage, honesty and sincerity. As a person who came out of Botan, of course, being a commander in Dersim has a meaning in itself. Leyla friend is the same way. He also came from Amed Bismil, but he commanded in Botan, Zagros; Friend Yaşar also came out of Botan and served as a commander in Dersim and worked and worked for so many years. He was such a friend. For the last time, he fought and struggled with great sacrifice and courage, with a self-sacrificing spirit. He fought not only against the enemy, but also against nature, against the cold of winter. A friend with him dies of cold. Yaşar friend is burying that friend. Meanwhile, his feet are burning from the cold. In that state, he still gives the necessary answer at the last point where the enemy surrounds him and uses the last bullet for himself. He was such a hero. His honor did not allow him to surrender to the enemy. He was such a bouncer. He was also a Special Forces Member.
These heroes will never be forgotten. They wrote their names in the history of our people in golden letters. These are the people’s bodyguards. As long as there are such bouncers, these people will not have their backs. As long as there are such self-sacrificing and brave volunteers as they live, this people and this movement will never be defeated. We know that each of our young comrades in our ranks is deepened by the spirit of Leylas and Yaşar, and is struggling to avenge them and to carry their struggle to success. We will keep their memories alive and we will honor our promise to them.
DIYAR XOSHNAV WAS AN EXAMPLE COMPANY WITH HONESTY AND COURAGE
Many Kurdish youth are like this now. There was an accident here on May 10. I listened to the father of our comrade Diyar Xosnav (Çavan Mihemed), a young friend from Hewlêr. He said, ‘We stand tall with him. It is true; they should be up with it. Diyar Xosnav was named after friend, Diyar Xerib was named after friend. Indeed, he became a follower of Diyar Xerîb. He was a heroic young man. He was an exemplary friend with his honesty, cleanliness and courage. He always wanted to take part in the toughest areas. He was constantly preparing himself for such fields. He was educated on this basis and gained a formation accordingly. He was a promising young man. Unfortunately, while he is sitting with his friends in the manga and wants to put on his belt, when he lifts his belt, the pin of the grenade gets caught in the zipper of his pocket and when he pulls it, the grenade explodes. He was martyred in such an accident and four friends with him were injured, one of them seriously. Their treatment is currently ongoing. In other words, such an unfortunate accident took place and we martyred Comrade Diyar; Other comrades were also injured. I wish the injured friends a speedy recovery; My condolences to Diyar’s family. My condolences to the people of Xosnav and Hewler. They can be very, very proud of these heroes.
THE PEOPLE OF MAXMUR DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE STATE OF IRAQ
The Iraqi Army has surrounded Maxmur Refugee Camp for some time now. Against this, there is also the resistance of the people of Maxmur. What do you think about this?
First of all, I sincerely greet our self-sacrificing and patriotic people of Maxmur. I respect their stance. Our people of Maxmur are a symbol and an honor for us and for the entire Kurdish people. With its honorable patriotic stance, it has a representation all over Kurdistan.
It is true; We heard from the press that the Iraqi soldiers wanted to besiege, to build fences and huts. We are watching this carefully. It is clear that Iraq took action at the request of the Turkish state. But Iraq must see the tricks of the Turkish state. The Turkish state wants to evacuate Iraq. He wants to set Iraq against each other with his friends. The Turkish state has plans on Iraq. They want to dishonor the Iraqi government, the Iraqi state, to impose their goals, weaken them and take them under their protection. They want to say, “You are the legacy of the Ottoman Empire”. They consider Iraq in this context. They approach it with this mentality.
For example, 7-8 years ago, the Iraqi Prime Minister officially said, “We want the Turkish state to withdraw its soldiers from Bashika.” Did Türkiye draw? No; on the contrary, it increased. Because Turkey does not want Iraq to be an honorable and characterful state; He wants to take it under his own protection. It has accounts for Iraq and Syria. For this, the Iraqi state and government must see the Turkish mentality, which has the AKP-MHP mentality, and must not be their aide. They said, “We will turn on the water for you, but you surround Maxmur, settle Shengal” etc. They are imposing their will on you. They already want to achieve results by imposing imposition on the Syrian and Iraqi governments. For this, the Iraqi state must be vigilant against these practices of Turkey. As our people in Maxmur stated in the press, they have no problems with the Iraqi state.
Whoever looks at Maxmur must first consider the attacks of ISIS. Then who could stand against ISIS? However, this people and their fighters became a will and a great position against ISIS. They defended both Hewlêr and other cities. This was no small thing. Nobody should forget this. Everyone should consider this. That alone shows the honor of Camp Maxmur.
WE BELIEVE THAT THE DIALOGUE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL
We believe that the dialogue between the Iraqi state and the parliament representing our Maxmur people will be successful and they will solve their problems through dialogue. It is a camp for political refugees. It is not correct to take it militarily. Yes; When the attacks developed, we rushed to the aid of our people as guerrillas, but then we lost our strength over time. We have very little power left now; We can also pull them if needed. In other words, a few people there cannot cast a shadow over the political refugee status of our people there. They can also be withdrawn if desired. It’s already a very small number. For example, if the Iraqi state and the United Nations give assurances that they will protect our people, there is no problem for us and not a single person will stay there. There is a measure and a solution to this. Our people there are civilians. children, women, there are old people and people in their jobs. As the Turkish state says, they are not in a position to be the focus of an attack on Turkey. These are things that do not reflect reality. For this reason, we believe that the problems that arise there can be solved through dialogue, and we expect this.
THE ELECTIONS WERE NOT FAIR
Presidential second round elections were held in Türkiye and Bakure Kurdistan. How can the election results be interpreted? How do you, as a movement, handle the election results?
Yes; We watched the elections in Türkiye and Bakure Kurdistan. First of all, let me say this; It was not a fair election, there was no equality between the parties. He used all the means of a party state in the field of press and financially in a versatile way. Again, arrests and multifaceted repressions were developed. In addition, cheating-stealing incidents were exposed in many places, and they happened a lot in different ways. Therefore, it cannot be said that it is a democratic and fair election. Therefore, the results of this election are not legitimate. It cannot be said that this choice is legitimate and correct. A 21-year-old government uses all the power of the state and achieves this result by using it in an unlimited way, not by taking into account the laws and laws. So this is not a legitimate conclusion.
Secondly, the results of this election are also important for our people. Our people showed their stance on May 28, as they did on May 14. Our people are in favor of democracy and change. He is determined and united in this matter. True, maybe there is a decrease in the votes compared to the previous one, but despite so many attacks, despite so many arrests and threats, he showed an important attitude. Now I see, some people talk about it a lot, but let them put themselves in the shoes of our people or work in an environment where so many people are thrown into dungeons and where there is such a threat. It is not an easy thing to show your will despite all this direction. People need to consider this. Considering all this, the attitude of our people is an commendable and meaningful one.
THEY WORKED WITH A LIE-BASED PROPAGANDA
Thirdly, I would like to point out that Erdogan was elected again, even though he corrupted Turkey, made it struggle with hunger, and made it a country where there was a crisis in every aspect. From where? I think it is necessary to state the facts clearly now. I think it’s time to say ‘the king is naked’. Erdogan’s opponent was a Kurd and an Alevi. It was not voted for. It is clear that the sociology shaped by the Turkish Republic system does not allow an Alevi Kurd to become president. TRUE; maybe someone within the state wanted a change, but the use of so much power of the state here is the result of a plan and project. This republican system led by AKP-MHP-Ergenekon created a sociology. This sociology is a Sunni and racist sociology. They kneaded the religious-racist tendency based on the Turkish-Islamic synthesis. This is the main point. If this were not the case, there would have been promises made by Erdogan 21 years ago. He said, “I will bring justice, lift bans, eradicate poverty.” Did he do these? It brought back hunger. However, it was chosen nonetheless. Why? Because they worked with a propaganda based on lies.
On the one hand, Erdogan carried out official propaganda, but mostly he put us on the agenda as if he was in the election with us; He wanted to revive racist-nationalist feelings. It was basically propaganda. And he always implicitly said things like “I believe that our people would not make a president who is not loyal to their values”. On the one hand, they worked like this. In a different lane, they organized the work that dealt the main blow. They carried out the most intense work through the sect and congregation. What did they do? ‘State and religion are falling apart; They said, ‘Let’s stay hungry, but not lose our religion’. In this way, the masses directed their votes towards Erdoğan and did not vote for Kılıçdaroğlu.
Kılıçdaroğlu seems to be an honest person. He has served the state for many years. He gave his life to it. He has never taken a bribe, that is, haram. Conducted a study. In fact, he succeeded in bringing many people together with his dialogues. There is nothing to say about his personality in this regard. But his identity has been denied. This is a fact.
Look; Maybe young people don’t know, but adults do. In the past, there was a person named Kamuran İnan in the Justice Party. He was one of the leading figures of the Justice Party, who was always with Demirel. He was from a well-known family from Bitlis. It was a circle with the state. They were Kurds, but they did not say “we are Kurds”. Actually, Kılıçdaroğlu also said “I am an Alevi”, but he did not say that he was Kurdish. However, everyone knew that he was a Kurd from Dersim. Kamuran Inan was a person who spoke 7-8 languages. His specialization was in diplomacy. Every time Demirel governments were established, he was also in the council of ministers. But it is not the ministry of foreign affairs that has expectations, but the minister of energy, etc. given to different ministries. To sum up, as many governments were formed during the reign of Süleyman Demirel, he was always a minister, but he was never a minister of foreign affairs. His expectation was to become foreign minister. Because that was his specialty. As a result, before he died, Kamuran Inan said: “There is an unwritten law in the Turkish constitution. It is the law that a Kurd cannot be a foreign minister. Point!”
If a Kurd cannot be a foreign minister, then neither can a Kurdish president. This is so. Yes, maybe a black-colored person like Obama became president in the USA, and that was a development. If Kılıçdaroğlu had been elected in Turkey, this would have been a revolutionary development in Turkey. But sociology, which was created as a project in Turkey, lost because it did not give way. This is the main reason why he lost.
Now many people are arguing and circling around but no one is telling the truth. It is true; maybe under the name of “terror”, anti-Kurdishness was given too much importance and it seems as if Erdogan’s propaganda on this basis has had results, or it is shown as such, but the reality behind the scenes is not like that. The result is the problem of identity and sect. Those others were what seemed official, but that was the main thing that was boiled down in the streets, in the villages and everywhere, through sects and congregations. In other words, on this basis, they prevailed over the opposition.
OUR PARTY IS NOT AN ELECTION PARTY
On the other hand, there were also other shortcomings, there is no need to mention all of them here. Our party is not an election party. This is not such a fundamental problem for us, but of course, it is necessary to correctly read the sociology created in Turkey today.
