NEWS CENTER – The Information and Press Center of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) announced the martyrdom of its fighter Tûgba Karakoç. The statement is as follows:
“The Women’s Revolution of Rojava became a sacred shelter for all souls who want to be free. This ancient land witnessed many gulimors. The borders that were drawn by the occupying forces lost their meaning with the Rojava revolution and the peoples revived the unity of the peoples against the genocidal concept through the resistance of heroic women.
Our friend Tuğba Karakoç, nicknamed Cudi Egîd, opened her eyes to life in the city of Diyarbakır in 1995, in a patriotic family. The resistant Ameda has been brave in his fight at all times of history. The land on which a person is born plays a decisive role in shaping the personality of a person. That’s why the people who live on that land, like the magnificent walls of Diyarbakır, always resist the oppressors and do not surrender. This tradition of resistance paves the way for choosing a revolutionary life in Cudi’s life choices. Within the family of Cudi’s friend, the involvement that takes place for the freedom movement also allows Cudi’s friend to make concrete decisions in his search for a free life. In particular, the involvement of two brothers of Cudi has a great impact on him. In such a culture that values the country’s freedom until the end, Cudi’s search for freedom by joining the ranks of freedom reaches its true meaning. Our friend Cudi rebelled against the genocidal mentality of the Turkish state and went to the mountains of Kurdistan in 2013 with the spirit of resistance of the city of Diyarbakır. Our friend Cudi is having great experiences in his walk in the mountains of Kurdistan and in his heart, in every stone, bed and flowing water, he grows the dream of a free and independent Kurdistan. With this great hope, he is developing himself both in the military and in the military field.
Comrade Cudi, after his struggle in the free mountains, is now heading to the West of Kurdistan due to the brutal attacks of the ISIS gangs. She waged a relentless struggle against the brutality of the century and rose to her duties as a female militant within the ranks of the YPJ. He has made a special place among his colleagues with his self-sacrificing, humble and enthusiastic attitude. He waged an armed struggle against occupation and domination and became the language of describing the heroes who lived on this land. With this multifaceted attitude, he joined the ranks of the revolution every day with the enthusiasm of the first day and took his place in many different fields of the revolution. In order to build a free, democratic society and women’s freedom, she sacrificed herself in all the difficult conditions.
Our comrade Cûdi Egîd reached the level of martyrdom on the 11th of May as a result of the drone strike of the occupying Turkish state. The occupying Turkish state carries out this kind of indiscriminate attacks with the aim of eliminating the leaders of the women’s revolution in Rojava. The level of determination of our revolution, both as a defense force and as a people, shows itself in the embodiment of women’s leadership. This creates great fear in the hearts of enemies like Erdogan. Erdogan and the Turkish state, which has a history of genocide, are trying to relieve their failed psychology with their attacks of this kind. But taking care of the legacy of the martyrs of the cause of freedom is our oath. The ongoing struggle has given birth to many brave girls and boys. Our friend Cudi was also one of those heroes who fought until her last breath to defeat the genocidal mentality.
We are committed to our martyrs. Our promise to the martyrs of the people’s freedom will reach its true meaning by hoping for a free future. First of all, we express our condolences to the patriotic family of Karakoç and all our people who have their own miracle. Our promise will be our revenge.
