MAKHMUR – The Iraqi army, with dozens of armored and military vehicles, tried to enter Martyr Rustem Cudi Camp (Makhmour) from several places yesterday, put up towers and surround the camp with fences. On this, the people of Makhmur ran in front of them and stopped them first. They stopped them until the evening hours, in the evening hours the Iraqi army attacked the people and a young man was injured.
In order to prevent the Iraqi army from entering Makhmur, the citizens set up camps and started a vigil. The activity has been going on since yesterday. The young people in your watch expressed their feelings about our agency:
They want to turn the camp into a prison on our heads
“My name is Roj Yildistan, as you know, for two days the Iraqi forces want to surround the Rustam Cudi Makhmur camp with borders. As the youth of Makhmur, we don’t want them to surround our camp and make us a prison. On this basis, we as young people, mothers and children have been standing here for two days and we will resist.
Yesterday, when citizens were protesting in this place, the Iraqi forces opened fire and as a result, a young man from Makhmur was injured. We will never accept this action and if it continues, we will show a stronger attitude, we will not allow the Iraqi forces to touch our camp in Makhmur. Even if the clothes of the state are changed, their consciousness will not change.
It’s been 28 years that the Kurdish people and Kurdistan along with the Rustem Cudi Camp (Makhmour) have been fighting for their freedom and we will continue to fight for them with our role. We, the youth, will be in the front and will not allow our camp to be handed over to the Iraqi forces.”
We are standing!
“My name is Daza Kara, the desire of the Iraqi government to besiege our camp passes several times. We are standing now, we will continue this revolution and resistance until there is a blood vessel in our body.”
They made brutal attacks, we defended ourselves
“Since yesterday, heavy attacks have been carried out on us. We did not expect this and we have a stand in front of them. We defended ourselves from their attacks, but unfortunately they deliberately injured one of our friends. Throughout these years, we have never accepted change or domination, and we will not accept it either.”
