MEXMÛR – Working at Mexmur Hospital, Dr. Mihemed Ünver stated that there is a serious medical crisis in Mexmur and that in case of an extraordinary situation, they will not be able to respond to it due to the embargo.
Dr. Ünver said that it was wrong to impose an embargo on a camp, mostly composed of women, children and the elderly.
Talking about the problems and difficulties in the field of health, Ünver said, “There were already problems due to the last siege, but this became more and more difficult. Iraq did not allow drugs and medical supplies to enter the camp this year. Before that, for about three years, the KDP has not sent the allowances of our emergency patients in any way. It has been a week. With the ongoing siege of Iraq, the health situation has become an emergency,” he said.
Stating that they formed mobile teams in the field of health against the health problems caused by the siege in the camp, Ünver stated that they had a serious shortage of medicine. Noting that they serve the public with very limited means, Ünver said that an ambulance was not provided to take a person injured during the events to the hospital.
Noting that there is already a serious crisis in the camp and that if the situation worsens, they will not be able to respond to it medically, Ünver urged everyone to raise their voices in the face of the siege and embargo.
“People must fulfill their moral, conscientious, humanitarian and national duties. Because these people live here because of oppression. He lives here for all Kurds. That’s why they can’t stay silent,” said Unver, adding that the Kurds should protect Mexmur.
Calling on the UN and UN-affiliated health organizations, the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, Dr. Unver invited the officials of these organizations to the camp to conduct investigations in Mexmur.
