May 18 is a month of Şehîds for us and the revolutionaries of Turkey. As it is known, our first Şehîds gave their lives in the warmth of spring to build the life. The martyrdom of Heval Haki also took place on such a holy day. We should read the memory of Heval Haki well. Therefore, we should research the history of the Party well and understand it properly. We should recognize well how the PKK has worked for the memory of Heval Haki….
Heval Haki, a comrade who gave faith, who implemented our talks until the end and gave his life for the freedom struggle. Haki’s comrades marched to the end in this cause and stood up for his memory at the highest level.
The martyrdom of Heval Haki Karer has shown that. Every person wants to give himself for a cause. But the comrades who stay behind this person should surely make my case successful with a perfect struggle. Those who believe in it will not shrink from martyrdom. In the representation of your own comrades, in the journey of your Hevaltî, when lack of faith and doubts are shown, you want an army to go and take no advantage from this case!…
In that time our fingers were less than the hand. We were a group of Hevals who had no money in our pockets and we did not have a perfect weapon. In fact, it could not even be called a group. We were a group of Hevals who trusted each other. There was no escaping and there was no forcing anyone to do anything once with just a few words. Everything was sincere, free and honest.
The integrity and purity of this cooperativeness is unquestionable. In the beginning there were no individual calculations. Just because it was right, people surrendered to it. What this problem will bring me, whether death or profit, we never had such doubts in our minds. Based on these facts, the unity of people, is a beautiful and good unity. What we had built at that time was such a unity.
Heval Haki, is the first Şehîd of the development of this formation. Regardless of any interests, he united with this case with his heart and mind until the end.
In this way, our memory of the Şehîds became great. If there had been even a hint of interest in this unit, up to a political interest of a group, the possibilities we created on this way of memory would have been destroyed.
This year, is the year in which great battles and Şehîds took place. Therefore, the human closeness is also required. The name for this is to fight the battle of life without giving a chance to anything other than success. It needs revolutionary personalities who create opportunities from the lack of opportunities. People who know no obstacles, believe in success until the end and pay for it in any way. Responding to this year means understanding the Şehîds. This is how we understood life, welcomed it and this is how we gave meaning and importance to life. The reality of the Şehîds has shown in the light of their struggle what the needs of the people are who want to live like this.
The beginning of the construction of the PKK was implemented by this group with six and later with 12 people. This group was very organized. It grew from poverty and honesty and these were its most basic characteristics. The society attached great importance to these humble qualities. In their way of struggle, their most interesting side that stood out was the propaganda of language. They published very few leaflets and declarations. In this group, Haki Karer was the most committed and honest. If his martyrdom in 1977 had not happened, perhaps this group would not have moved so quickly to radicalism.
Just as Jesus’ crucifixion made his disciples very confident and determined, and on that basis his ideas spread from all sides, Heval Haki Karer’s martyrdom led to the same result. With the measure of the connection of the Şehîds, still connected and still determined.
In the case of the PKK, the first conspiracy against the party was perpetrated against Haki and played a major role in terms of claims, strengthening and expanding the struggle. If this conspiracy had not been carried out, it is a subject of discussion what form this group would have taken. Here, the program and the name PKK were adopted and written from the connection, memory and martyrdom of Haki Karer. Members were accepted in every community and regions. It strengthened the feelings and the needs for unity and Welatparêzî in our society. These two Hevals with Turkish origin, Heval Haki and Kemal Pir, are the greatest examples of the brotherhood and solidarity of the societies. Like Heval Mazlum, Xeyri, Kemal, Ferhat…. The leading cadres of the party who played a great role with death fasts and the action of self-immolation. Like an internal conspiracy, there is also the share of betrayal. At that time the situation was so serious and complicated that in the story “Resistance of Amed Prison” the answer was given. What was applied was a classic conspiracy. The first objective was to extradite all political prisoners. The state had embarked on a ruthless path. These brutal attacks also had a strong impact. Nevertheless, the “Amed Prison Resistance” has radiated in all areas and streets with resistance and a dignified attitude, especially in the prisons. These valuable resistances have played a historic role in changing prison policies. After so many years, this perseverance and resistance continues like a tradition. In the line of PKK, freedom of societies they took their place as a symbol of steadfastness and dignified attitude.
The action of the death fast has played a prominent role for the offensive of August 15. If the death fast had not existed, the offensive might not have taken place in this way. With the memory of comrade Haki Karer we founded the PKK and with the memory of the resistance in Amed, we started the August 15 offensive.
We became Mem and Derwêşê Evdiyê to all Zin’s and Edul’s. From the last breath of Mani, Mazdek and Babek to the loneliness of Hasan and Hossein in Karbala, the love of truth of Hallaci Mansur and the friendship of Pir Sultan, I felt them all and their pain also hurt me. I took over their work and started to search for freedom in their footsteps and intensified the struggle.
I became Heval Deniz, Mahir and Ibrahim and then I became the revenge soldier of Mazlum, Xeyri and Ferhat. In these monuments of humanity lay not only their war but also their reason for peace. Even now, we are continuing their case.
In the 1970s, the voice of the youth was very fearless and bright. In those areas where every side was full of traps, you could feel the fearlessness. These young people were so fearless and heroic with their spirit and attitude towards freedom. If I have a sense of honor, I will follow the line of these young people to the end.
The martyrdom of Mahir Çayan in Kizildere and the execution of Deniz Gezmîş gave us the duty of solidarity. In the end, the school education was just a chance. It was now guaranteed that I would act on behalf of the society. That is how I started with the national problem.
In the face of these truths and honors, the Republic stood out not with its nature, but with its style of targeting. Until the 80s, they pursued both PKK and individuals with such style. This reality of the Republic has had a great impact. The acceptance of Kurdish identity on one hand, all kinds of methods were on the agenda of the republic so that it can bury the Kurdish society. My identity and personality was formed by this process and flowed into the research. In this situation, the most meaningful work I could do was to bring out the nature. the potential of will and the power of struggle from the Kurds. In memory of the Turkish revolutionaries and the great Şehîd Haki Karer, we responded with such a movement and organization.
In the ideological and theoretical phase that I reached, two things influenced me above all. Either the modest and sincere participation related to faith or a participation related to the theoretical nature and power of ideology. Within the PKK, the symbol of highest values and dignities, especially Mazlum Doğan, Kemal Pir, Haqi Karer, Xeyri Durmuş, Mahsum Korkmaz and thousands of heroic Şehîds have drawn the style of my participation in the struggle with their sacrifice. The participation with the nature of these hevals expected that we would stand firm until the end and take a dignified attitude.
In the history of PKK there are symbols of solidarity and great monuments. Haki, Mazlum, Mahsum, Taylan Ozgur, Berzan Ozturk, Zilan, Beritan, Bermal and many Şehîds whose names I cannot pronounce are examples of great Hevaltî. All these values and dignities are like a meaningful book that should always be read. For this reason, as you know, the PKK cannot be instrumentalized.
The PKK is not an individual concept. The PKK is its truth. The PKK is Xeyri, Kemal, Haki. The PKK is the collection of historical values of humanity. These values were not won so easily. Now, in life, should I take the example of the Şehîds who turned themselves into ashes and recreated themselves with their own ashes, or should I take your qualities and their small realizations as an example?! Here you will be very open. I will represent the bond and friendship with a passion that began with Haki and reached a great value with Zilan. You should take this true friendship seriously yourselves. If you want to understand the army and the war, you must first understand what the links of this chain mean. This is the bond with the Şehîds.
When our first Şehîd Haki Karer was murdered, my world was turned upside down. I did not even have the strength to avenge him. What can we do in this situation? To create an organization means to keep the heritage of the Şehîds alive. It was necessary to give a great answer in the attachment to the memory of the Şehîds. There was a speech of Kemal Pir in which he said, “Ey bloody officer Esat Oktay, so that you do not rejoice, I will never ask you to give me a drop of water. (…) I will never do you this favor.”
The heroic story of the PKK lies here. A hero shows no (lawahiyê) mercy to his enemy until his last breath. This is the greatest value and beauty. Therefore, I can also say the following; When I have true and beautiful Hevals around me, no dirty hands can approach our struggle of humanity. When Kemal Pir hears about the action of Heval Ferhat Kurtay, he says to himself; “It would have been necessary that we had done this action.” With these feelings, with this responsibility, they go into the death fast. I don’t support suicidal activities and I think they are wrong. But I do not consider the action of Kemal Pîr, Mehmet Xeyri Durmuş, Mazlum Doğan and Ferhat Kurtay as suicide. These Hevals have something to say. They say that; “If we had the chance to live, we would have taken it.” But among these possibilities, we will choose to live honorably until the end and whatever is needed at the end of this life, we will fulfill it.”
This evaluation of the Hevals holds out to us our measure of actions and life. For the honor of humanity, there was only one thing left: the act of resistance. This action, too, our leading Hevals performed impeccably….As is well known, M. Xeyri Durmuş evaluated his determination and that of his hevals thus; “We won” Their motto is; “It will win the dignity of humanity.” This is our tradition of resisting wars. This should be understood and implemented correctly in its entirety and to the end.
Among us, in the line of Şehîd-becoming, death and life have become one. That is, to say goodbye to a free future, death and life express the same thing. The working style of the chairman, is the working style that cancels the difference between death and life. Like a life that is not far from death. Even in death with the characteristic in which life is not finished.
This is very important. Because the reality of Şehîds. in intellectual, military and organizational work, in short in all kinds of work, has cancelled the difference between life and death. To live as if one never died and to live as if we face death at any time is important. This means that man lives on the line of Şehîd. Our Şehîds have led all their work in this way. Therefore, it is impossible to consider any other lineage as the forerunner and commander.
What kind of personality comes from the system? What kind of life comes from the system. It is nothing. As I said, there may be moments when you have to live with instant death out of necessity. That also brings caution and attention until the end. The blind courage with which you approach death is not accepted. The truth is that we face death at any moment, and meanwhile death can come to anyone. In this world, I am the closest to death and live with the danger of death every moment. But, even when danger is imminent, I have a personality with which I cannot be put in danger in this way. This also depends on the kind of success of the PKK.
For sure, you should understand these facts well. The Day of Şehîds is a great opportunity for this. This water that you drink and the air that you breathe more, you need a line of dignified life. I believe that you understand this need well. If you understand it, then it is also for a perfect way, the perspective of war, life and victory. Here, success is also guaranteed. The importance of the first Şehîds is very great. We are their products. Those who understand the Şehîds can build an army, build a new society. But those who do not honor the memory of the Şehîds properly will surely fall into betrayal or defeat sooner or later. We have to take responsibility. The chairman of the PKK is a chairman of responsibility. A chairman who depends on the memory of the Şehîds. The PKK’s line of leadership has been connected like a circle for years. Circle after circle has been added. The expression of the truth that cannot be falsified. What is required is to understand the facts well if it is possible to become a circle and increase the main circle.
We have given great value to these holy Şehîds. We are very sad. But in attachment to them, we have started an offensive and brought it to this day. Because with it thousands of Şehîds were experienced. This year we are sticking to the revolution of Turkey. Now we will take even more decisive steps. I believe and the guerrilla is also included in this, with political and ideological steps, we will make the year ahead the year of victory. On this basis, I ally myself with these important things, so also in my personality I achieve the organizational mentality, but most importantly the forms of action and tactics are implemented correctly, so also on the other sides the revolution will have its influence. With this attitude, we will be closer every day to the common victory of the societies.
On this basis, we commemorate once again all Şehîds of the revolution. On this day with the beginning of their actions, until today we committed to the memory of the Şehîds. Therefore, today with the increase of the struggle, we wanted to stand up even more for their commemoration. Until the victory, it will be like this. With the meaning in which we say that the Şehîds of the PKK revolution and those who march on this road will not die.”
