NEWS CENTER – Making a written statement, the KONGRA-Gel Co-Presidency Council said, “A refugee camp under UN protection is wanted to be turned into an open prison with the demands of the AKP-MHP government and the collaborative KDP. The Iraqi government’s attempt to surround Maxmur Refugee Camp with wire fences and turn it into an open-air prison with watchtowers is in no way acceptable, especially on the eve of the elections being held in Turkey, the reason why this attempt is wanted to be made again is to support Erdogan, who is in trouble in the second round, to win the elections.
Desiring to besiege Maxmur Refugee Camp is part of the free Kurd’s siege plan. This plan; It is a plan to encircle the free life and free future of our people. Except for the Barzani family, all the Kurdish people are in this plan. Since the Barzani family has completely surrendered to the Turkish state politically, militarily and economically, they act according to their plans and wishes.
The Maxmur people represent the resistance spirit of the ‘free Kurd’. No power can take it over. The fear of the Turkish state and its collaborators is that this spirit cannot be stopped from rising step by step in every part. Under the leadership of the Maxmur People’s Assembly, women, children and youth, all the people of the camp are resisting together. We respectfully salute the resistance of our people living in Maxmur Refugee Camp.
Our call to our people and friends living in four parts of Kurdistan and abroad; Let’s protect the honorable resistance of the Maxmur Refugee Camp, let’s show everyone that the people of the camp are not alone. Let’s be the voice of the Maxmur people urgently in domestic and foreign public opinion and diplomacy.
We appeal to the Iraqi government and UN officials who remained silent in the face of developments; This practice is contrary to international laws and human rights and is not legitimate, it is bullying, torture and cruelty. These people do not accept oppression and injustice. The problems experienced should not be solved by pressure and threats, but by negotiating with the elected representatives of the camp people.
Once again, we salute the resistance of the people of Maxmur, who raised their hope for freedom with their determined stance. Resistance will win, fascism and collaborators will lose.”
