BEHDINAN – The Ecology Committee said, “The ecological destruction in Turkey and Kurdistan continues in the election process. AKP-MHP fascism deepens its plunder and plunder by opening natural habitats to energy and construction companies. After the earthquake on February 6th, heaps of rubble like mountains are left to the nature, and this massacre is further sized. AKP-MHP fascism is trying to obtain the budget of the war and the election in Kurdistan by plundering nature. The whole geography, from Cudi to Kaz Mountains, from İkizdere to Akkuyu, has been given to the greedy profit ambition of energy and construction companies.”
The following points were noted in the KCK Ecology Committee statement:
“While the results of the Hiroshima and Chernobyl disasters remain fresh, the AKP-MHP fascism scientists, together with Putin, their sole supporter in this process, are putting the Akkuyu Nuclear Thermal Power Plant into operation as an election investment, despite the persistent resistance of the environmental and ecology movements. Preparations are being made for the second “Chernobyl” disaster in Akkuyu, a Mediterranean paradise. Emphasizing that the Akkuyu Nuclear Thermal Power Plant area is in constant motion, scientists and ecology movements also draw attention to this fact. In other words, Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant means “announcement of the known” with its dangerous aspects.
In addition, although the AKP-MHP fascism intensifies the genocidal war it started against the people of Kurdistan, it is experiencing a defeat by not getting the expected result with the resistance of the guerrilla. Therefore, it wants to continue its war, which it wages with huge expenditures without recognizing any law or moral rule, by destroying the entire nature of the country. It is destroying agriculture and animal husbandry with the rent project it is trying to develop under the name of “solar energy systems” in the geography of Kurdistan.
At the Ecology Movements Conference held in Istanbul on January 21, 2023, a common attitude was determined by saying “our stance in the election is for ecology” since this fact was foreseen long ago.
- Because; We are at a time when we are going to make this decision, that is, our attitude in the election, practical in the face of the limitless destruction of nature.
- Because; a time when we will use our choice and attitude in the elections in favor of democracy, ecology and women’s freedom;
- Because; It is also time to reveal the free will and democratic culture of our peoples at the ballot box, against the fascist, despotic government that exploits nature and people, incites racism, nationalism and gangs among our peoples, and wants to maintain its existence by dominating the society.
- Because; It is also the right time to protect the right of all living things, including shelter, to have a home and to live unhindered in their own nature, and to increase resistance at the ballot box against everything that opposes human sociality.
- Because, it is the right time to create the respect for those who transform the soil on which one’s feet step, the water they drink, the air they breathe into their own living space, at the ballot box.
- Because it is the right time to establish ecological villages against the cancerous city, communes against the plunder of the land for the sake of rent, cooperatives that are the self-production power of the people against monopolies at the ballot box.
- Because, it is the right time to struggle for social ecology against capitalist modernity and its monopolistic form and to cultivate our own democratic ecological society perspective at the ballot box.
In other words, our attitude in the election; As İbrahim Oruç, who updated the irony of “They released the dogs and tied the stones” in the 2011 election veto on his own young body and was murdered by the AKP police, “Stones for AKP, votes for Green Left Party!”
