BEHDINAN – Expressing that the Green Left Party entered the May 14 elections in a wider range than the HDP and revealed the real opposition to the AKP-MHP fascist government, Karasu said, “If they play their roles correctly, they have a historical opportunity. There is a big gap. There is the Nation Alliance, but the Nation Alliance is not strong enough to meet and fight this fascist government, not in a program, not in a stance. In this respect, it can meet this big gap together with the Green Left Party components, together with the alliance forces.
It is necessary to be a little more courageous and a little more open-minded in addressing the Turkish society. Because Türkiye will be destroyed together with its society. I also say for the forces of democracy; they need to open up to a wider environment. Otherwise, the Kurds are already fighting, we are struggling. There is no problem with this. But the Kurdish people, the Kurdish democracy forces need to meet with the Turkic peoples more in order to destroy this fascism.”
GULÇIYA, DILXWAZ AND PLŞİN FRIENDS HAVE WORKED GREATLY IN THE FIGHT
I commemorate friend Gulçiya, friend Dilxwaz and friend Pelşin with gratitude and respect. Friends Gulchiya and Dilxwaz were old, familiar friends. Both were commanders of HPG, YJA Star. Friend Gulchiya was already at HPG Headquarters. He was Headquarters Commanding Member. Dilxwaz friend was also the commander of a province. They are friends who have made a very important contribution to the struggle. Both are children of Botan. Hundreds of male and female commanders emerged in Botan. They have done a great job in this struggle. Having already produced hundreds of commanders, Botan is currently one of the areas where patriotism is strongest. Botan is the area where our guerrilla struggle has already developed strongly. Botan has such a feature.
Of course, I have known these friends for a long time. My oldest acquaintance, Gulçiya, is a friend. Gulchiya was in our field in 1995. I was in Metina at that time. Friend Gulçiya moved to the Berwar Sevdîn and Lêvînê area, that is, to the Hakkari side, in the spring of 1995. He was the squad commander at the time. I think it was towards autumn; It was an operation. The Turkish state attacked the area. Conflicts ensued. Meanwhile, friend Gulçiya breaks away from his own union. Sometimes in conflicts, friends broke up. Friend Gulçiya also broke away from the union. He continues the operation, he was left alone. It goes and hides in a mountainous, forested area.
I think it’s the last day of the operation, a soldier suddenly comes to his hiding place. They come face to face with Gulçiya. When the soldier Gulchiya sees his friend, he calls out, “My commander is a woman, my commander is a woman” and leaves. Seeing that there is nothing left to do in this situation, Gulçiya prepares her bomb, draws her gun, puts the bullet into the barrel and waits. If soldiers come, they will fight to the end. Now he will detonate the last bullet himself. In such expectation. Of course, after a while, the soldier’s voice cuts out. No one comes for hours. Then it stays there. One day, two days later, the soldier withdraws from the operation. And the friend then broke off from the union, walking again from the Qaşura area to Metîna. I was in Metîna then. They explained the situation, they had given a full refund beforehand. Conflict broke out, your friend Gulchiya was disconnected from his union, They said they couldn’t get any information. The possibilities were that he was a martyr. After crossing the border, friends informed us that he was coming. I wanted him to come with me. When he arrived, he explained this situation. He breaks away from the union for 15-20 days like this, arrives by walking and crossing the border in a week. There is such an event.
Of course then the squad commander. He joined in 1992, this event happened in 1995. Since then, I have always taken care of him. He had barely escaped then. I think that soldier first goes to inform his commander, then when he can’t see anyone around, he ignores the situation and doesn’t say it. He is most likely either from a democratic family or a Kurd. At first he calls out when he sees it, but then he sees that there is no one around, no one has heard, he ignores it. Otherwise, he goes and says, the soldiers come and there is a conflict. Friend would die too.
HE TOTALLY GAVE HIMSELF TO THE LIBERTY OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE
He was really a friend of ours who came out of Botan’s social and intact values. He gave himself completely to the freedom of the Kurdish people and was committed to their values. It served everywhere. For him, they were not easy tasks, but difficult ones. This is how he always approached assignments. He wanted to take on difficult assignments. It has remained everywhere. He stayed in Botan, he stayed in Amed. He was responsible for the provinces of Amed, Garzan and Erzurum. It came later. Later, in many areas; He commanded both Rojava and Rojhilat. He is such a friend. He has been in this struggle for 30 years. We talked a month before the martyrdom. It was a month and a half ago. We met in March. He too was martyred at the end of April; in 2019. Indeed, as a son of Botan, his martyrdom as a command was premature. More precisely, he was martyred in Garê as a result of air strikes. I remember with gratitude.
Especially Kurdish women and Botan’s daughters should take Gulçiya’s friend as an example. They should follow in his footsteps. The struggle of these friends should not remain on the ground. Absolutely free Kurdistan must happen. Such was their hope.
So is the Dilxwaz friend. He was a son of Botan. Again, Friend Pelşîn joined the movement from Mardin, where patriotism was intense. I remember these friends with gratitude. Their memory will surely live on in our struggle. Their successors and those of us who promised them will continue this struggle until the end. We will certainly realize a free Kurdistan, a Democratic Middle East.
EXTREMELY HEAVY INSULATION HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED FOR EIGHT YEARS
Currently, the Leader’s captivity is in its 25th year. In fact, the Leadership has been in heavy isolation there for almost 25 years. From time to time, there were some meetings during the period when the AKP government softened in order to relieve itself and consolidate its own power, and made a certain relaxation for its own benefit. There were also political talks. We were on our way to Oslo at work. There were talks. There was a certain softening in this period. There was, but because the AKP government did not have a democratic mentality, these talks did not yield any results. More precisely, Erdogan instrumentalized these talks.
It is a fact; The Kurdish problem cannot be solved without a real democratization and democratic mentality in Turkey. Because the Turkish state’s view of the Kurdish problem is different. He wants to commit genocide. It’s not any political issue. Any political problem will happen. Demands are few and many. Compromised and can be resolved somewhere. There is an unacceptable problem here. Not accepting. In other words, it is necessary to overcome an unacceptable situation first. Its existence must be acknowledged. There is such a denying reality in Turkey. They say from time to time, we broke the denial. No such thing. I mean, those are just words to deceive the society and deceive the world. Or, right now, the genocidal system is in full swing. Mass communication technique is advanced. Information technology is advanced. Assimilation continues. Therefore, to hide their genocidal faces, they made some softening in the very limited cultural area to mask it. Apart from that, heavy isolation is applied. Right now, there has been a very heavy isolation for 8 years since 2015, and there has been no meeting for the last two and a half years. Why is this? Why not contact? Why heavy lockdown? If the answer is given, then of course it will be understandable.
CPT PLEASURE IS IN APPLICATION
Clearly, not a single word from the Leader is wanted to come out. A psychological pressure is being placed on the leadership. Just as a genocide and war is being carried out abroad, and intense pressure is being carried out on the people, it is also carried out against the Leader. The first edition starts from there. This pressure is being carried out because it is this Leadership that raises the awareness of this people, organizes them and makes them struggle. Therefore, there is a heavy isolation. This heavy isolation means the following: The leadership rejects the AKP’s policies and takes a stand against it. His every word will be an attitude towards him. For this reason, isolation is imposed and no interviews are held. Of course, all this is done by violating the Turkish Constitution. Universal law is also violated. It really has no legal basis. There is neither a world-wide nor a law based on the Turkish Constitution.
It is clear that the CPT is also in fact arbitrary application. CPT is a European institution. Europe is a civilization based entirely on economic interests and material interests. He does whatever material interests require. There are no moral values in Europe. Europe has no moral standards. Material measures have taken precedence over spiritual measures. It cannot be said that it does not exist at all, but material interests and moral values have taken precedence over the nafs. In this respect, they go and write a report in Imrali. They don’t tell us! They don’t tell the public. Supposedly they say to Turkey. If there is an overt negativity, a sanction… They don’t say anything like change this, change that, don’t do it. Kind of a request. So Türkiye religions? They’re not listening anyway. Türkiye already says: I will do it, no matter what Europe says, he says. In this respect, the CPT does not play a role as it seems.
In other words, it is not an institution that fights against torture and monitors torture. If he had, he would have taken a stance against such severe isolation. He has no attitude. So what happens? When the CPT does not take a stand, it becomes legitimized and normalized. Türkiye continues to do so.
AKP-MHP IS TRYING TO GET RESULTS WITH BLACKSTAY AND THREATS
A friend of Besê (KCK Executive Council Co-Chair Besê Hozat) also made a comprehensive assessment of the program the other day. So much pressure on the leadership, in a way to society, to us; The pressure on the Movement is blackmail. They are clearly practicing a blackmail policy. They run a print policy. This shows the level the Turkish state has reached. Now he is trying to do something with blackmail and threats, trying to get results. But of course, our people are also conscious. Our movement knows what this threat is. In this respect, we also know that a struggle is needed to end this isolation. Political struggle is required, legal struggle is required, people’s struggle is required. Only then can this isolation be lifted.
In this respect, of course, everyone laughs at what the Minister of Justice says. The guy is interesting anyway, he’s not the Minister of Justice. He uses demagoguery to hide obvious injustices, to hide his evil deeds. What, impossible possibilities!.. It would be 1 month, it would be 2 months, it would be 6 months. Isolation was imposed because of these “non-existent possibilities”. He wasn’t interviewing this. His lawyers have not met since 2011. What does it have to do with the non-existent cause? In the past, it was said that the coaster is broken, this one is broken. Now “reasons not available”… So there is nothing. So it might be an “unexplainable reason” for him. Therefore, it is not possible to take them seriously. There is a heavy lockdown there. The leadership has a stance there. The AKP government has a stance and attitude against its genocidal policies. Severe isolation is imposed on him. Our duty is to fight against isolation.
THE ATTACK IN 1996 WAS THE ATTACK OF SECTIONS IN THE STATE
I strongly condemn the 1996 attack on Leader Apo. We were at the Military Council Meeting in Zap in 1996 when this attack happened. The leadership was making phone calls with us, the friends at the meeting. While making a phone call, the Leader cut off the phone. It stopped the phone for 5-6 minutes. After that, he continued to talk to us. Of course, the thing is, I think the Leadership is at the Kurdish school, but the car is blown up near the Turkish school.
The walls of the Turkish school are crumbling and being damaged. But there is no loss. Of course, the Leader hears the voice, albeit from afar. And he later learns that the place where the explosion happened is the Turkish school. Cuma (Cemil Bayık) has friends and other friends. There the bomb goes off. MIT is an assassination organized by them, within the knowledge of intelligence. The government has no direct knowledge. But certain sections of the state do this. From Celal Bucak to some people, such a group is organized and such a bomb is detonated in Damascus. In fact, such bombs are detonated to put some pressure on Damascus. In a way, it is a period that Turkey has lost against us, and that it has collapsed as the struggle continues. The 1990s was a period in which Turkey suffered all kinds of depressions, and for this reason, it can no longer bear this struggle. Since they have suffered all kinds of depressions in the face of the war, they are calculating to end this war by getting rid of the Leader. They target the Leadership with the approach of “If we neutralize Apo, we will also neutralize the PKK”. Unsuccessful, they resorted to other means. This situation went as far as the International Conspiracy. On this occasion, Comrade Zîlan gave the biggest answer to this conspiracy against the Leader in Dersim. Friend Zîlan responded to this assassination against the leadership with a self-sacrificing stance. He clearly gave the message that the whole movement, women, will take care of the Leader. This was important. Friend Zîlan responded to this assassination against the leadership with a self-sacrificing stance. He clearly gave the message that the whole movement, women, will take care of the Leader. This was important.
From this point of view, I can say that after this assassination and bomb attack on the Leader in Damascus, the tendency to selflessly respond to the attack on the Movement developed. Zîlan started it. After Zîlan, this developed further. The leadership was constantly targeted, and in 1996 it became part of the attack. This actually shows the Turkish state’s approach to the Kurds, its approach to the Kurdish problem. As a matter of fact, with this mentality, with an assassination mentality against the Leader, the realization of the International Conspiracy should be evaluated as an attack against our struggle that emerged as a result of failure and desperation.
I KNOW THE SEA WITH RESPECT
We are entering the 52nd year of the execution of Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan and Hüseyin İnan. I remember with gratitude and respect. We strongly condemn those who carried out this execution against them. They are truly a turning point in the history of the peoples of Türkiye. The stance and struggle of the youth of the generation of Denizlerin, Mahirs and İbrahims in the period of 1968-971 started a new era in the history of Turkey.
Until that day, of course, there is a struggle against the state. There is a struggle between the socialist forces and the Kurdish people have always been in struggle throughout the history of the Republic, but for the peoples of Turkey, a direct and open challenge to the state from the front, their struggle and its socialization and the great support among the youth started a new era in Turkey. This is how it should be stated.
Of course, their stance also affected our struggle. The struggle of Mahirs, İbrahims and Denizs has had a significant impact on the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. As Deniz, Hüseyin and Yusuf were going to be executed, they were taken from the section where the Leadership was located. The Leadership is also in prison at that time. After the murder of Mahirs in Kızıldere in 1972, the Leadership led the boycott. He was imprisoned for leading the boycott. At that time, they were taken to execution from the Leader’s place. At that time, the Leadership has been in Mamak prison for a month. They influenced the leadership. The leadership has already promised after Denizler was executed, executed; He said, “We have to fight in such a way that the struggle will not be interrupted again, and it will be successful,” he said. It has such an impact, but on the other hand, it has also had an impact on Kurdish youth. The impact of the political environment created by these on the youth in the development of the struggle in Kurdistan after the 1970s is great. There should be no denying this. Yes, even though there was an organization like DDKD or DDKO in the late 60’s and early 70’s at that time, it did not radically affect or shake the youth. It is actually the stance of Denizs, Mahirs and İbrahims that shakes the youth and pushes them into a militant struggle. Kurdistan also needs such militants. If there is such militancy in Kurdistan, only the struggle can develop. However, while Kurdistan needed such militancy at that time, this emerging trend was not militant. But a militant and self-sacrificing stance is required for the freedom of the Kurdish people. For this reason, of course, Kurdish society and Kurdish youth are more interested in these, and we commemorate them with gratitude. I was sympathetic to them too.
THEY WANTED THE FREEDOM OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE TOO
Hüseyin Inan is considered our neighbor villager. I also felt sympathy for him. I was in my senior year of high school when they were executed. So their stance is really important. If democratization is to come to Turkey today, if the freedom of the Kurdish people is to be ensured, it will be with this stance. They gave importance to the brotherhood of the Kurdish people and to the democratization of Turkey. They are not deniers like this country. So there is no denial. In the youth of 1968-71, both in the Seas and in Abrahams; There is no Kurdish denial in this generation. On the contrary, within the framework of the democratic revolution that will take place in Turkey, there is also the desire for the freedom of the Kurdish people. In this respect, they played a role in the agenda of the Kurdish people’s freedom problem in Turkey with their stance.
In this respect, it is necessary to remember them with gratitude and respect. If a new Turkey is to be established, it will be built on the basis of their memories, on the basis of their loyalty. As a matter of fact, now the forces of democracy and freedom in Kurdistan with the peoples of Turkey are carrying out the struggle and effort to realize their longing for a democratic Turkey and the liberation of the Kurds, a free Kurdistan, with such a common struggle.
MAY 1 IS MORE SIGNIFICANT NOW
First of all, I congratulate the day of unity, solidarity and struggle of the workers in Kurdistan, Turkey and all over the world. I commemorate all the workers who fell martyrs on this day with gratitude and respect. Because I also saw the May Day Martyrs closely. Taksim on May 1, 1977; So I’m right in the middle of the 1st of May square. I was at the bottom of the statue. I had acquaintances at the time. I went to Istanbul for May 1st. At that time, I participated in the May Day parade in the Dev-Yol cortege. We were right in the center of the attack. Most of the deaths have already happened near us. Of course, the crowd dispersed, we stayed in the square, we worked with the police. We put many bodies in the car. Again, we put those we thought were injured in taxis and sent them to hospitals. I was in it. In this respect, those May Day Martyrs are of course an important moment for us or a promise we made to them.
May 1, for many years in the world; It has been celebrated since 1877. In this respect, May Day workers have an important place in the development of the struggle and the formation of consciousness. It is not just a holiday, it is a day of struggle. From that year, from the end of the 19th century until today, many martyrs were given on May 1st. Today has become the day of struggle. Today, May 1 is even more meaningful. It has a long history. Of course, May 1 is also a holiday of socialism, the day of struggle against capitalism and realization of socialism. In this respect, it also means renewing the socialist consciousness in the socialist struggle and reconsidering these experiences. This is how May 1 should be understood. It is necessary not only to celebrate a day, but also to carry out an even greater struggle in the coming years by drawing out the experiences and experiments of the struggle.
At this stage, the struggle of the workers is important. Of course, the workers are against the state, against exploitation. In this respect, workers are one of the most fundamental forces of the democratic revolution and the revolution against capitalist modernity. Workers will play their roles as they have played in the past hundreds of years in terms of the organization of the workers, their struggle, overcoming capitalism, establishing a democratic society and a world without exploitation. However, if we are fighting for socialism, it is necessary to put all socialist forces outside of capitalism into this struggle. And in this struggle, the struggle of women is important today, the struggle for ecology is important. Without these, it is not possible to take the struggle of the workers to success. If the struggle of the working people is to be successful, if there is to be a success against capitalist exploitation, against modernity, then it is necessary to develop the women’s struggle, the ecological struggle together. Because today, ecological struggle has become the problem of all humanity. Without being sensitive to these problems, a correct struggle for workers, for socialism, cannot be waged. I am stating this for; In real socialism, there was an industrial service concept. It was so wrong. And he was approaching the industry with an understanding that destroys nature. Now it has to be overcome, set aside. For women’s freedom, it is not enough to just say that society cannot be free without women’s freedom. It is now necessary to take an approach that puts women at the center of social freedom. In this respect, it is necessary to carry out the struggle of the workers, the struggle of women, the struggle of ecological forces, and the struggle of all forces defending society together in the 21st century. It is necessary to develop the ecological struggle together.
NO LONGER MUST THINK ABOUT SOCIALISM WITH THE STATE
On the other hand, I need to emphasize that; It is no longer necessary to think of socialism as a state. The state is the instrument of colonialism. With the emergence of exploitation, the state emerged. There is no place for the state in a world where there is no exploitation and the power of collectivism. It shouldn’t be. In this respect, democratic confederalism, which is an alternative to the state; that is, the democratic administration of the people can be based on democratic confederalism. There should be no concept of state. Yes, a democratic government is needed. That democratic administration can be realized on a democratic confederal basis. In this respect, I would like to emphasize this especially while commemorating this May 1st.
Of course, this May 1 must and will be an important day for the struggle against fascism, especially for Turkey and Kurdistan. The democratic forces and labor forces in Kurdistan and the labor forces of Turkey will further materialize this on May 1, develop this unity and raise the struggle to overthrow fascism in Turkey. Presumably, this May 1 will also have an impact on the May 14 elections. In a way, the spirit of May 1 will also be effective in destroying fascism on May 14.
THE SOCIAL REALITY AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE IS TERRIBLE
This earthquake event expresses a situation that needs to be examined very much. The current approach to the earthquake, the level of discussion of the earthquake in Turkey actually shows what the reality of Turkey is. So there is no conscience left in Turkey? Any morals left? Around 200,000 people died. Ten cities were leveled. 15 million people were affected. It is as if the past was an ordinary event, any disaster had happened; this is how it is approached. This is truly the establishment of consciences. Seeing the approach to this earthquake, people are frightened by the reality of Türkiye. Will there be such a society, will there be such an approach? What kind of country is this really? A person cannot say anything, cannot describe it, our memory does not take it.
Okay, you can’t die with the dead, but why did he die? Caused? These need to be examined. Those responsible must be held accountable. A government that caused the death of 200,000 people, its ministers and those responsible should not be able to walk around in the community, should not be able to go out into the community. Then it should be questioned. If Erdogan and his government can still walk around freely, talk, and gather so many people, this needs to be questioned. There can be no such thing. So are we going to say: no conscience, no morals, no conscience, no measure. There is so much destruction, as if something normal happened. Let alone everything, what did the people who died in those wrecks think? What did they experience? They died in agony. Nobody went to the rescue. Hundreds of thousands of people died there. What did they think? Doesn’t it matter what they think? Perhaps the dead were our most precious. After death, we knew the value of most of them. I say for the whole society; I am saying for the whole of Türkiye, for Kurdistan. Especially for families who are closely affected. Is this how it is approached? How does it feel that it can talk inside you and travel easily? It can’t be like that, really, one’s conscience doesn’t lift it, morality doesn’t lift it, it doesn’t lift the standards. People say, what kind of country is this, what kind of Türkiye?
THE OPPOSITION MUST DISMISS THE GOVERNMENT
Now it’s an election, it’s covered by the election. It seems that Erdogan accepted the election agenda for this very reason. Maybe it was delayed. He saw that it would be very difficult, he took the election early. Nobody is talking now.
The opposition must be disgraced. The opposition needs to make this government unable to go out into society because of the government’s attitude in this earthquake and the policies that led to the earthquake. What did you do with the earthquake tax? Four-five days in devastated places. Aren’t you going to give an account? There is none; There is no AFAD, no Kızılay. It’s all pretentious. I don’t know, on thousands of wrecks, he went over five or ten of them. After that, they took all of them with scoops like this, and they take them left and right. This is a serious situation. If this is not taken seriously, if the writer, artist or politician is not taken seriously, nothing will come out.
Kılıçdaroğlu said something, he should follow it. Or so everyone should be. He really said a good word. I don’t know how much he will do, how much he will believe. He said; I am no longer the person before that.. Yes, it should be like that. After experiencing this earthquake, who in Turkey can be like before? But is there now? Kılıçdaroğlu does not bring it up in the squares, others do not. They have to disgrace the disgrace. The Minister of Internal Affairs, a disgraced man, did not visit AFAD for 3-4 days, he is leaving. He shamelessly calls the Green Left Party members playing music in Esenler, “disgraceful”. Someone is not saying, what are you talking about! What did you do? You caused so much destruction. In this respect, the earthquake agenda should be on the agenda. This cannot be forgotten. Hundreds of thousands of people died and their homes were destroyed. Other than the deceased, the others do not have a home.
THERE IS NO SHAME IN ERDOĞAN
Whoever caused such a great event must be held accountable. AKP-MHP needs to be held accountable for this. If these are not taken, it means that there is rottenness. If the AKP-MHP government will still exist, then there is corruption in all respects. Then it needs to be seriously questioned. Indeed, literary writers, artists and those with a conscience should question that it is not on the agenda even now. Why is this happening? Why can they still come and talk to us?
Erdogan has no shame, he speaks. What kind of person is Erdogan? Erdogan’s oriental cunning, Umayyad unscrupulousness, Byzantine intrigue, and the pragmatism of the western bourgeoisie based on material interests. It’s a mix of all four. Western pragmatism. Byzantine intrigue. Umayyad has unscrupulousness. And there is oriental cunning. He got these. Really freaky thing. Humanity’s worst state. Or Erdogan really represents the dirtiest and ugliest state of politics. That’s why people go out in public without shame because that’s how it is. Erdogan has no measure, he has nothing to believe in. All he believes in is maintaining his power. On this occasion, I commemorate those who lost their lives in the earthquake with gratitude and respect. Indeed, the fact that this issue was not brought up in this election period, I think it is a serious problem that such a serious situation does not become a serious problem in Turkish society. Everyone needs to think about this.
IF THE ROLES ARE PLAYED RIGHT, A HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY ARISES
When the HDP was closed, elections were held with the Green Left Party. More precisely, the Labor and Freedom Alliance is running for election under the Green Left Party. It is important. HDP already had components. With the Labor and Freedom Alliance, this was further expanded. In this respect, the Green Left Party is entering this election in a wider range than the HDP’s previous elections. In this respect, it represents an important social segment. It also expresses the real solution against this fascist government and reveals the real opposition. It is important. There must be such an opposition to this fascism. It is such a fascism that it sharpens everything. It is the practices of fascism that sharpens the atmosphere and the struggle against it. Yes, fascism made all kinds of attacks, but the struggle against it also exposed AKP-MHP fascism. With this aspect, the struggle has the power of exposing, clarifying, clarifying and revealing the truth. This turned out. The Green Left Party is now trying to represent this. This aspect is important. If they play their part right, a historic opportunity has come their way. There is a big gap. Yes, there is the Nation Alliance, but the Nation Alliance is not in a power to meet and fight this fascist government, not in a program, not in a stance. In this respect, it can meet this big gap together with the Green Left Party components and alliance forces. It creates excitement in this respect, but they need to see the reality of Türkiye a little more. If they play their part right, a historic opportunity has come their way. There is a big gap. In this respect, it can meet this big gap together with the Green Left Party components and alliance forces. It creates excitement in this respect, but they need to see the reality of Türkiye a little more.
This is why I’m stating this. Optimism is good, but we have the reality of fascism. To overcome this fascism, to be strong against fascism, to be successful, we need to work harder, we need to take it more seriously. Only optimism, just saying that fascism has been exposed and its face has been exposed, does not succeed. They need to fight harder, work harder. There is a lot of optimism about this. I’m not saying to be pessimistic, but we need to see the facts. More work is needed.
And this choice is very different. If the Green Left Party represents the HDP tradition in this election, it needs to appeal to Turkey more, especially considering the point fascism has reached. The Turkish society needs to be addressed more. It is necessary to be a little more courageous, a little more open-minded, both in discourse and in addressing the Turkish society on this issue. Because Türkiye will be destroyed together with its society. I also say for the forces of democracy; they need to open up to a wider environment. Otherwise, the Kurds are already fighting, we are struggling. There is no problem with this. But the Kurdish people, the Kurdish democracy forces need more meetings with the Turkic peoples in order to overthrow this fascism. How else can it be destroyed? In this respect, it is necessary to create the widest front. It is necessary to reach the widest social segments. It is necessary to appeal to the widest social segments. We must not narrow our method.
MORE WORK NEEDED
Another point is; I think there is some slack about that as well; While HDP crossed the threshold in 2015, it worked all over Turkey. Because it was important to cross the threshold. In order to pass the dam, it was necessary to get votes from Giresun, from Trabzon and Yozgat. It was necessary to get votes from all over Turkey. In this respect, it is necessary to call out to the society and to work hard not only in places where deputies will be elected, but also in places where there are no deputies. Otherwise, if it shrinks, if the votes coming from there decrease, then the general votes will decrease. Because, at least, even the places where those deputies were not elected were gaining around 1.5 percent of the votes. In this respect, in order to increase the votes and to elect more deputies, it is necessary to call out to Turkey more, to appeal to the Turkish society, and to improve working in places where deputies are not elected. It is said everywhere; we will take this much, but this is also with work and style; It happens by calling out to the widest circles. It is not just by calling out to our own circle, to our own base. They are already voting. He overcame the threshold by calling out the HDP project to large segments other than its own base. Otherwise, the dam could not be crossed. What happened when the dam was breached and expanded a little? 80 deputies came out. 35-40 more deputies came out. From where? It was such an expansion, success and even development when it appealed to wide circles other than its own base. These need attention. What happened when it got a little wider? 80 deputies came out. 35-40 more deputies came out. From where? It was such an expansion, success and even development when it appealed to wide circles other than its own base. These need attention. What happened when it got a little wider? 80 deputies came out. 35-40 more deputies came out. From where? It was such an expansion, success and even development when it appealed to wide circles other than its own base. These need attention.
ATTITUDES THAT DO NOT EXTEND THE ALLIANCE SHOULD AVOID
The Labor and Freedom Alliance is an important alliance. Everyone should take this seriously. This is not just an electoral alliance. It will not end with the election. More struggle will be required after the election. Will have to fight. In this respect, they need to protect, develop and expand the Labor and Freedom Alliance like the pupils of their eyes. The struggle does not end with elections. In this respect, everyone who is in the Labor and Freedom Alliance should know the meaning and value of this alliance. And with such narrow approaches, it should not take positions that do not expand the Labor and Freedom Alliance. This is a very important issue. It cannot be approached that way. It cannot be approached emotionally. In this respect, everyone should see better what the Labor and Freedom Alliance means. They must both work hard together today and the Labor and Freedom Alliance must wage a stronger struggle after the election. The next period will be a period of struggle. It came with elections, democracy became, problems were solved; Such expectations are wrong.
What is everyone’s main task right now? Its first task is to overthrow fascism. It is a joint struggle against fascism. The common struggle against fascism gives birth to the widest sections of the world. Whoever shows a narrowing approach means that he is not conducting the struggle against fascism correctly. This is how it should be understood. I wish success to the Labor Freedom Alliance.
THE ATTACKS ARE THE KURDISH PEOPLE’S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM
We call it fascism, it really is fascism. What was the scoundrel of Süleyman Soylu saying? He was saying; “What freedom are you talking about? Look, you’ve been playing folk songs since morning. You speak Turkish.” And you arrest people every day, tens of thousands of people are in prison, not just the last ones.
Of course, because it is a struggle, there is an attack on this struggle, there is breaking the will of struggle. It is clearly said: You will give up the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. Behind this, you will give up being Kurdish, you will accept Turkishness, you will melt. That’s why they attack. In this respect, everyone should know that; The Kurds are being attacked, the existence of the Kurdish people is being attacked. Because all of these people are working for the freedom of the Kurdish people, for the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people, for the democratization of Turkey. They are arrested for this. There is no other reason. It can be said that; There are other Kurds. Other Kurds, the Kurds with whom the AKP is in contact, the KDP people… Since this genocidal colonialism weakens the forces that are actually fighting against the Turkish state, they are using them against the main fighting forces. In this respect, these attacks are definitely an attack against the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people and against Turkey’s democratization. This is how it should be seen. This is such a state. The Turkish state is a genocidal state, it attacks. Then what fell for the Kurds? They will either give up their Kurdishness, stop the struggle, say I surrender, or pay the price and continue this struggle by going to prison.
In this respect, I respectfully greet all resistances and greet everyone who was arrested. They are in a struggle. They throw them in the dungeon because their stance is strong. But let them know that this is not just any struggle, it is a 50-year struggle. It is a struggle that has continued uninterruptedly for 50 years. It is no longer possible for them to dissuade this society, the Kurd, from their identity and demand for freedom. This is what they don’t understand. Yes, they can make Kurds lose, they can make them suffer, they can kill them. But it is not possible to silence this struggle by force. This struggle will continue. In fact, this government is making these attacks to keep itself alive. In this respect, both their attacks were inconclusive and they went into losing mode. That’s why they carry out such attacks. Our people and their journalists will struggle. Artists and politicians alike will struggle. If they don’t, they will give up their identity, their Kurdishness. Since there is no such thing as a Kurd anymore, it should be seen as part of a struggle. The way to stop this is to fight harder. Here, every day calls are made in the press. Has a journalist been arrested; 10 of them, 100 of them take the camera. Has an artist been arrested; It is said that other artists should own it. We also agree with these thoughts.
ELECTION SECURITY MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
Election security is a really serious issue. It is said from time to time that this issue of election security is exaggerated, it is created with the agenda in this type of work in order to disrupt the psychology of the society and to prevent going to the polls. It is said that there is a psychological warfare. You shouldn’t see it like this. The AKP-MHP government is not just any kind of fascism. He was saying Hulusi Akar the other day. Terrorists have pinned their hopes on elections. This means: AKP must win in this election, MHP must win. As if the AKP falls in this election, as if the PKK will come to power. That’s the logic. In this respect, those who think like this will make all kinds of attacks. Süleyman Soylu called it a “coup”. He said the May 14 coup. Someone said that if the Nation Alliance wins this election, the invaders will win. What are they saying? Of course they need to be taken seriously. Those who say this do not want to leave power. They apply to all kinds of games. Kılıçdaroğlu also said; I know that they will resort to all kinds of games.
There used to be elections in Turkey; Demirel was leaving, Ecevit was coming, Erbakan was coming, that’s how Erdogan came. Erdogan also came with the election. Now he doesn’t want to go with the election. He says it’s good when he comes with the election, when he leaves, Türkiye will be destroyed and disappear. He looks like this.
This is a different view. Kind of like dictators. Do dictators in the world go by election? It’s not going. But the people are overthrowing. Now they have become like this. He doesn’t want to go by election. I mean, dictator. A fascist dictatorship. Have dictatorships been seen to give up power easily? But the people stood up and swept. In this respect, the problem of election security is a serious problem. The public should own it. If the people own it, it will spoil their game. In fact, he wants to make a coup in the internal elections. Because that’s what legitimacy wants to achieve. He will take power again and say I am legitimate, he will attack more. The public needs to own it. She needs to have the boxes. All people have this right. I remember. I had been many times in my youth, I had been there when the ballot boxes were counted. I mean, people used to be there, too. Nobody was involved. Nobody was preventing it. It used to be like that, now there are witnesses. Of course, everyone should go and claim the boxes and be ready for anything. If this government insists on staying in power despite the people, if it comes to a situation such as leaving the power by cheating and scrap despite losing, the people should show their stance. You have to be ready for that too.
IF KILIÇDAROĞLU CAN REVEAL ITS FLAME, THANKS TO THE STRUGGLE
Before the election, it was said that Kılıçdaroğlu cannot be elected because he is an Alevi, they do not vote. A prejudice has been created about Alevis in Turkey for centuries. Who can say that there is no prejudice? Based on this bias. It was said that Kılıçdaroğlu cannot win. Even his candidacy was challenged. In this respect, of course, Kılıçdaroğlu was compelled to say. Because Erdogan was making references every day, reminding him of his Alawism. He didn’t say it openly, but he was making the agenda. Here, of course, he breaks the prayer rug, he does not know the qibla. He said, ‘What is a prayer rug because he did not pray?’ He said this many times in the squares. In this respect, there was such a policy against Kılıçdaroğlu. Kılıçdaroğlu actually dismissed this by saying it openly. But it’s also important to be clear about it. Getting to this point is important. An Alevi will do politics and reveal his identity so easily. It was not possible. In the past, you couldn’t explain at school, you couldn’t say you were Alevi. You couldn’t tell at work. When you said it, you were looked down upon, looked at differently. In this respect, Alawites both concealed themselves in the places they lived, and also in the places they went, at school and elsewhere. In fact, the reason why they migrated from such small cities to Istanbul and big cities was that no one knew their identity when they went to big cities. Yes, there was such a social reality. Erdogan then said that there is no such problem, we did not make anyone’s Alawism a problem. That’s shame! But he said again: We do not have Alevism, there is no Shiism, there is Islam. In fact, he indirectly denied Alevism again. “You will be like me,” he said. How I understand Islam, you will do the same! He actually meant it.
Yes, Kılıçdaroğlu said, but it is the decades-old struggle that brought Kılıçdaroğlu to this point. Our struggle has been decisive in this regard. In Kurdistan and Turkey, the biggest struggle for the Alevi people to adopt their own identity was the PKK. Again, the Yazidis’ own identity and ownership. The PKK did. In the past, Yazidis used to hide their identity in Mardin and Batman. They didn’t even go to the market. Is it so now? Now in Kurdistan, both Alevis and Yazidis live in Kurdish society with dignity and equally. In this respect, we broke it in Kurdistan. There is no such problem. This was broken at a significant level in Turkey. Unlike other movements in Kurdistan, the PKK already included the Alevi community, including the Alevi youth. There are only a few in other movements, but we have thousands of martyrs.
On the other hand, Leader Apo’s understanding of democratic nation developed. The mentality of living together in a nation of different faiths and different ethnic communities has developed. Such a theory arose. This had an impact on this development in Turkey. In this respect, if Kılıçdaroğlu openly expresses his Alawism today, of course, the Kurdish freedom movement has a great contribution. Again in Turkey, it is the Kurdish democratic movement. They are parties before HDP, HDP. HDP made this issue visible. He openly embraced Alevis. Already many Alevi MPs within the HDP became the mayor. They have become visible in that aspect as well. And thus, the approach of Alevis in Turkey to hide themselves was broken. He made Alevism visible.
Of course, while saying these, both Alevi organizations and institutions have been organized since the end of the 1980s. Their struggle was also effective in this visibility. In this regard, Kılıçdaroğlu said this; It’s positive, it’s important. It was an important attitude, but we need to know that both this attitude and the courage to do so have such a historical background and ground. If we do not know this, we cannot be just, we cannot be conscientious.
CALL TO THE FLAMES
It is necessary to appreciate, see and give their due to all the efforts and struggles that have brought the Alevis to this day without concealing themselves. We also had a struggle for the identity struggle of the Alevis, the struggle for freedom of belief, it was the struggle of the democratic political forces in Kurdistan. In this respect, Alevis had a significant impact on Türkiye’s politics today. The Green Left is now inheriting this legacy. The Green Left or HDP is not a party of just one identity. It is not only the party of the Kurds, nor the party of the Alevis, it is not just the party of an identity. It is the party of all Alevis, the party of the Kurds, the party of women, the party of all social segments, the oppressed, different ethnic and religious identities.
The existence of such a party is very important. Only such a mentality can liberate Alevis to freedom of belief. It can enable Alevis to freely express their identities and beliefs within the democratization of Turkey. In this respect, I call on all Alevis to vote for the Green Left Party in this election.
