On this occasion, we commemorate Comrade Kawa Çekdar, who was martyred in the Nisêbîn Self-Government Resistance in May 2016, and who was the valiant commander of this resistance, with respect and gratitude.

Our comrade Kawa was born in the Bêrecûk district of Riha, but grew up in Europe. Comrade Kawa, the only child of a patriotic family, grew up with a deep-rooted patriotic culture among our people in Europe, visiting patriotic institutions. Although he grew up far from the country, he did not break away from the society’s culture, language and his own reality. With the strong culture and upbringing he received from his family, he recognized his own truth early, always remained loyal to the sacred aspect of the land where he was born, did not lose himself in the life of capitalist modernity, was interested in the revolutionary struggle and was involved in revolutionary patriotic youth work. He joined our Movement as a professional revolutionary in 2008 in order to further increase his participation in the freedom struggle, and in 2009 he took the road to the free mountains of his country, Kurdistan, which he had longed for for years.
He integrated early with the mountains he came to with a great joy of life and enthusiasm, and quickly overcame the difficulties caused by growing up in European cities. Comrade Kawa, a conscious intellectual revolutionary, practiced in Qandil and gained experience in guerrillaism. With the experience he gained and the training he received, he turned to Bakurê Kurdistan in 2012 and moved to Botan to participate in the Revolutionary People’s War, which gained great momentum in 2012. It first went to Botan, and then to the province of Mêrdîn. Comrade Kawa, who aims for absolute success in every task he undertakes, has been successful in his guerrilla practice in Bakure Kurdistan as well as his practice in Medya Defense Zones. While he was a strong-willed, well-developed and hardworking guerrilla who stood on his own feet in difficult Bakur conditions, he took on a task and became a commander over time.
In 2015, the fascist Turkish state launched genocidal attacks against our people within the framework of the Precipitation Plan and carried out massacres one after another. Our innocent people and patriotic Kurdish youth, who tried to defend themselves against these genocidal attacks, developed the Self-Government Resistance, thus opening a new page of resistance in the history of Kurdistan. Our comrade Kawa went to Nisêbîn to contribute to this resistance of our people and young people, to share his experiences and to stop the genocidal attack of the massacre Turkish state. Comrade Kawa took part in the Nisêbîn Self-Government Resistance at a responsible level, and assisted Comrade Xebatkar Baran (Zamani Çamak) who was the legendary commander of this historical resistance. Comrade Kawa fought shoulder to shoulder with friend Xebatkar, He visited the positions and barricades built by the valiant youth of the people of Nisêbîn, one by one, and gave great efforts. The people of Nisebin, who witnessed the effort, stance, love of the people, self-sacrifice, sincere revolutionism and belief in freedom of Comrade Kawa, were very impressed and attached to him. Comrade Kawa became a son of the people of Nisêbîn in a short time and became a source of enthusiasm and joy for the children of Nisêbîn.
Comrade Kawa was a commander with a developed military aspect as well as his revolutionary stance and popular character. Nisêbîn had a great effort in building the Self-Government Resistance as an impenetrable wall with the determination of the people, belief in freedom and will. Nisêbîn has mobilized the great guerrilla experience and knowledge gained over the years to protect our people. In Nisêbîn, he personally led and commanded the resistance that dealt the heaviest blows to the fascist enemy herds, inflicted syndromes and never forgotten, even after years. Comrade Martyr Pale Mêrdîn, one of the valiant martyrs of the Nisêbîn resistance, expressed the participation of Kawa colleague in Nisêbîn with the following words: “If a resistance developed in Nisêbîn that inflicted syndromes on the enemy and prevented the genocide, it would be the stance, participation,
Comrade Kawa has made his mark as a pioneer commander who played his role in the freedom struggle of our people and the history of freedom created at great cost, gave the revolution its due, lived the guerrilla to the fullest, and managed to place it in the hearts of our people. Comrade Kawa, who is the only child of his patriotic family that he brought to the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle; With his stance, participation, epic struggle and martyrdom, he has bestowed a great honor on his family, our patriotic people and us comrades. This epic resistance and honor created by the Xebatkar and Kawas by being the Apoist commander of the sacrifice will always be taken as an example by all the Kurdish youth and our comrades, especially the youth of Nisêbîn and Riha, their goals will be achieved and their memories will be kept alive in Free Kurdistan.“
