NEWS CENTER – In the written statement made by the Executive Committee of the People’s United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH), May’s revolutionary insistence and determination in victory stems primarily from the honorable stance of our revolutionary leaders against torture, surrender and betrayal. The tradition of not giving a secret, of raising the flag of resistance from hand to hand, blossomed in May. Comrades İbrahim Kaypakkaya, Haki Karer, Ferhat Kurtay, Eşref Anyık, Mahmut Zengin and Necmi Öner faced the most determined days of our war of revolution and socialism. They are now honor, pride and hope.
The statement also stated:
“On the 18th of May 73, Amed Dungeon saw the unforgettable resistance of Comrade İbrahim Kaypakkaya, even after 50 years. Our revolutionary history continues to embroider on the victories this story of resistance that has exceeded his life many times over, his fight that does not give any secrets. On that day, Comrade İbrahim Kaypakkaya proved the irresistibility of the will and at the same time defeated the enemy forces. Although the enemy could torture whatever he wanted, he could not get what he wanted. While history remembers İbrahim Kaypakkaya for his resistance against exploitation, oppression and torture, the names, bodies and images of murderers and executioners are either not remembered or only heard through acts of punishment. This awareness of being held to account comes from Comrade Kaypakkaya, who asked to account for the murder of Sinan Cemgiller, who started the guerrilla war in the Nurhak Mountains, as a result of a denunciation,
İbrahim Kaypakkaya took an important stance on Kemalism and the Kurdish question and accelerated the revolutionary break. The revolutionary generation of ’68 and the following years, with these practices, had an important place. Comrade İbrahim was among the unforgettable leaders of our revolutionary movement, to which he made important contributions both theoretically and practically. His pioneering philosophy and humble stance in revolutionism is an exemplary approach that is not forgotten in the hearts of our people in the lands of Turkey and Kurdistan today. Our people still embrace him and swear to hold him accountable. This account will not be closed until we say “closed”.
‘HAKİ KARER EXISTS INTERNATIONALism ITS OWN’
“When the dates showed May 18, 1977, Comrade Haki Karer became immortal. What makes Comrade Haki Karer unique is that he brought internationalism into existence and, with this stance, he was one of the first pioneers of the Kurdish Freedom Movement. With a Turkish identity from the Black Sea, he is also the first foundation of the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people today. When Dilok (Antep) was murdered, his immortal body was carried from the lands of Kurdistan to Ordu, and in fact the foundations of the united struggle of the peoples were laid. While his body carried on the shoulders was buried, thousands of people were at his grave. Everyone said goodbye to a pioneer revolutionary who worked the hardest, put the most effort, and rushed to everyone’s aid. Comrade Haki Karer became the name of the liberation of both Turkish and Kurdish people from exploitation, colonialism and oppression in the revolutionary and resistance tradition of May.
‘FOUR RESISTANCE WAS EQUIPPED, IT ATTACKED THE ENEMY’
HBDH also stated the following in its statement:
“When the comrades Ferhat Kurtay, Eşref Anyık, Necmi Öner and Mahmut Zengin set their bodies on fire on the night of May 18, 1982 in the Amed Dungeon, each of them became ‘The Four’. Four comrades, four friends, armed the resistance against surrender and the will against betrayal. Their practice of self-sacrifice against all attacks on the Kurdish people turned into a moment of victory, accompanied by slogans on the prison walls. The words ‘the one who throws water at us is the traitor’ has become an expression of their determination and a practice that sooner or later the revolutionary struggle will triumph. When the four turned themselves into a torch of revolution, the Kurdish people said ‘we won’. This action of the Dörtler against denialism and assimilationism demolished all the gallows, shattered the torture chambers, and caused a morale collapse on the enemy. Despite all the attacks and tortures, the resistance in the dungeon was integrated with the anger of the people. What the Turkish rulers and coup plotters feared has happened to them.
‘EVERY PRACTICE HAS THE POWER OF THE UNITED REVOLUTION’
There is the power of united revolution in every practice of Comrade İbrahim, Haki Karer and the Four. The fact that Comrade İbrahim held the Sinans to account, Haki Karer’s being a unifying pioneer stretching from the Black Sea to Kurdistan, and the fact that the Dörtler gave moral value to all revolutionaries in the dungeons express the basis of the revolution in Turkey and Kurdistan. Being like them, fighting like them is a point that needs to be reached today. The unshakable will of the action of the bouncers, the Four, the Kaypakkaya, whose willpower is not broken even once, while walking barefoot in the snow, comrades Haki Karer, who lead everywhere, are our oath of war in our united revolution struggle. Therefore, İbrahim Kaypakkaya, Haki Karer and Dörtler are the pioneers of the united revolution. We will demand an account of the torture done to them at any time and under all circumstances! The flag we inherited from them, fluctuates with their history of struggle. We will plant the flag of the united revolution on the bastions of fascism. We will destroy fascism, we will win our freedom!”
