BEHDINAN – PKK Executive Committee Member Xalîde Engizek talked about PKK Central Committee Member Kasım Engin, who was martyred on May 27, 2020.
Stating that May is the month of martyrs, Engizek reminded that pioneers such as Haki Karer, Deniz Gezmiş, İbrahim Kaypakkaya, Ferhat Kurtay, Mahmut Zengin, Eşref Samek and Necmi Öner were martyred. Noting that Kasım Engin was martyred on May 27, 2020, Engizek said, “In the person of Heval Kasım Engin, I commemorate the martyrs of May and all the martyrs of freedom with respect. Once again, we repeat our promise that we will succeed in the struggle for which they sacrificed their lives.
Heval Kasım Engin’s 3rd martyrdom anniversary. Our party started out as the PKK martyrs party. We, too, are claiming our party reality and waging a struggle along the lines of our martyrs. Just as the PKK became a party with martyrs, grew up with martyrs, came to this day with martyrs, martyrs gained meaning with the PKK, gained honor and became the greatest values of the people with the PKK. If we do not approach the reality of martyrs on this basis, we will not be deemed to have fully surrendered their rights to the martyrs.
Since childhood, Heval Kasım was a friend of his patriotic values and his land. Heval Kasım came to the Leader’s field as a cadre of the party, was educated and moved to the guerrilla areas, not as someone who grew up in Europe. He adapted to the guerrilla life in a short time and gave more than 30 years of his life to the struggle. He has struggled by taking on important responsibilities and duties since his young age.”
HEVAL NOVEMBER ESTABLISHED THE APOCU MILITAN FEATURES IN HIS PERSONALITY
Emphasizing that Martyr Kasım Engin put up a great struggle in the most difficult areas and periods, Engizek continued his speech with the following words: “Heval Kasım fought both ideologically and physically in every field against the liquidationist line, against the enemy, against the attacks of the enemy. This enabled heval Kasım to gain great experience in the field of struggle. We are very proud to be collaborating with someone like him, to be working together. When we worked with Heval Kasım, we always took great strength from him. Because heval Kasım had become clear in the line of the party and the Leadership, he embodied the Apoist militant characteristics in his personality. In this sense, we can say that heval Kasım is a true revolutionary.
There was always a positive energy in areas where Heval Kasım was present. He reflected this to those around him and channeled his comrades to the struggle. Heval Kasım had such a natural strength. He gave strength to his comrades with his energy, enthusiasm and morale. He was an intellectual friend. He trained himself well, he organized his time well. He was always reading, researching. He did a lot of research on Kurdish-Kurdistan, history and geography of Kurdish. There was a lot of work and effort in this regard. He had improved himself a lot in consciousness, philosophy, politics, culture and ideology. Therefore, it had a great role in educational work. In the place where Heval Kasım was, training activities were carried out very regularly. He would train all his militants, party cadres, fighters.”
HE WAS A GREAT PRESS WORKER
Engizek, who added that PKK Central Committee Member Kasım Engin also pioneered the press efforts, said, “Heval Kasım had such an energy; played a great role both in the organization of press work and in the ideological development of the press. He was also a pioneer in this field. For example, he was writing for all the newspapers, he was writing for the magazines, he was making TV programs. He was presenting his theoretical knowledge to the press and was leading these studies. There are misconceptions emerging in the field of press. Press work is carried out as if press work is independent of everything, not tied to an ideology, as if there is no ideology behind every press. There are approaches under the influence of liberalism.
Heval Kasım has given a great fight against this understanding, he has put up a great struggle. The press wanted to develop and strengthen its propaganda-agitation works within the framework of ideological measures and both to organize it and to make it public. He focused on carrying out a press work that was not separated from the society and connected to the society. Comrade Kasım joined the caravan of martyrs in the line of free press, such as heval Dozdar, heval Nûjiyan, heval Şilan, heval Deniz and heval Gurbetelli Ersöz. We can say that Heval Kasım is a great press worker. The free press has become a caravan of martyrs. What our press will do is to base the ideological measures on the line of martyrs and to raise the struggle on this basis.
Heval Kasım was both an artist and an athlete. He sang, danced, and wrote poetry wherever he was. He also loved sports and treated it as a health issue. He also saw sports as an indispensable part of guerrilla life. Heval Kasım was also a very strong soldier and commander. He always shared his views on tactics, terrain and war and made suggestions. These features made him a great revolutionary. He had established the philosophy of a bite and a cardigan in his life, and he represented this philosophy very well,” he said.
THIS FIGHT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL OUR MARTYRS SUCCESS
Also mentioning Martyr Kasım Engin’s comradeship with female fighters, PKK Executive Committee Member Xalîde Engizek concluded her speech with these words: “Heval Kasım’s comradeship with female fighters was very special. He had developed himself very well within the framework of ideology and organization, he had studied the Leadership. Heval Kasım made great efforts to reach a free male personality in the leadership line and to make friends with women. His spiritual side was also very strong. His twin got angry, and his family had strong relations with both his sisters and his mother. Therefore, his approach to female friends was very natural. But, of course, she mostly dealt with the issue of women within the framework of ideological organization. We are very proud to work with Heval Kasım and to fight together.
The martyrdom of Heval Kasım created a serious void in our lives. We will never get used to him being physically away from us, but this has also revealed the truth. The bigger our party, the PKK, grows, the more the values it creates and the costs it inflicts. The martyrdom of Heval Kasım is a price for our struggle. It is very difficult for us to fill his place. But as the comrades of heval Kasım, we will keep him alive in every moment of our struggle. His personality will illuminate our future like a candle. We commemorate Heval Kasım with respect once again, and we bow respectfully before his memories. This struggle will continue until our martyrs achieve their goals. Once again, in the person of heval Kasım, we commemorate all the martyrs of freedom with respect.”
