BEHDINAN – YJA Star Headquarters Command Member Zozan Çewlîg answered journalist Tekoşîn Axîn’s questions regarding the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla’s decision of inaction since the 14 May elections and the Kurdistan-centered earthquakes in February.
A short time ago, the YJA Star Command Council held its meeting. Important decisions were taken at this meeting. Besides, what kind of roles do the guerrilla and YJA Star commanders have in line with the decisions taken, especially regarding the physical freedom of Rêber Apo?
May is an important month for our Movement. We martyred many of our precious martyrs in this month; I pay homage to them and bow before their memories.
Coming to your question; In our meeting, we evaluated the situation Rêber Apo has been in in three years and reached important decisions. Rêber Apo has been in great resistance under the most severe conditions for 25 years. The Imrali system, carried out in the person of Rêber Apo, is actually aimed at the whole society. We also evaluated in our meeting; our main agenda is the situation of Rêber Apo. In particular, the most severe and deep form of isolation has been implemented in recent years. We have comprehensively evaluated why it has been subjected to an intensified isolation and isolation. As a second point, we focused on how well the defense forces, especially YJA Star, fulfilled our duties and responsibilities towards the Leader. The most important decision was this: We must understand the genocidal policy on Rêber Apo and destroy this policy according to the requirements of this understanding.
Rêber Apo is the center for us; practices against him are directed at us, the Kurdish people and all humanity. This should be understood as such, and the highest level of struggle should be waged against it on the basis of the principles of the Women’s Liberation Ideology, the idea of freedom, and the jin jiyan azadi line.
Rêber Apo is a free life for us, we follow Rêber Apo’s situation with sensitivity. As Rêber Apo’s supporters, we repeat once again that Rêber Apo’s situation is a reason for war for us.
On February 6, a major earthquake occurred both in Bakure Kurdistan and in Turkey. KCK declared a decision of inaction to heal the wounds of the people. However, despite the decision, the invading Turkish state continued its invasion attacks in Medya Defense Zones and Bakure Kurdistan, which are resistance areas. How do you evaluate these attacks? What is the guerrilla’s position in the face of attacks?
The decision taken by the KCK was important and our forces followed it with great sensitivity and care. Our people followed suit, and everyone saw that we are a movement of humanity. The result of the earthquake and the suffering of our people caused us to make such a decision. It was a moral decision. However, the invading state did not act according to the requirements of the decision, on the contrary, it used this as an opportunity to attack. It expanded its operations in resistance areas, especially in Medya Defense Zones, and continued its military occupation operations in Bakure Kurdistan. This issue should be on the agenda of the guerrilla, and guerrilla occupation operations should not be allowed, and there should be no gaps. Our people should be sensitive and give the necessary answer to the fascist invader in the elections.
The guerrilla showed great resistance against the invasion attacks for the last 8 years. Especially YJA Star played a big role. YJA Star left its mark on the 8-year war with both its warriors and commanders. One of these commanders was Gulçiya Gabar. Again, Hejar Zozan had a mission in this resistance. How do you evaluate the struggle of these two commanders?
Gulçiya is the anniversary of your friend’s martyrdom. Comrade Pelşîn was also martyred with him. Hejar Zozan, the commander of the Serhed Province, also joined the caravan of the immortals. I commemorate these friends with respect, and in the person of these friends, I offer my condolences to all patriotic families. A great experience of freedom has accumulated in the person of the warrior Kurdish woman. We started from Saras, now we have reached Gulçiya’s and Hejars. This great experience is expressed in the slogan “jin jiyan azadi”, which the whole world is shouting today.
Commander Gulçiya left behind a great legacy in the female command. He commanded in the most critical days from Behdînan to Amed, from Erzirom to Kobanê. He is also from the Merdin region. He was a personality molded with deep patriotic measures. She has always been a commander in every period with her ready personality in the face of difficulties, and has been an example in the army of women.
Hejar Zozan was the commander of the Serhed province, Bager was martyred with his friend. Heval Hejar was from Erdexan. He realized the persecution of the Kurdish people during his university years and recognized the reality of Rêber Apo here. In pursuit of his quest for freedom, he turned his direction to the mountains. As a member of the Special Forces, he had a great struggle on the line of the Leadership and the martyrs. Heval Hejar made a conscious participation and took part in the work of Şehîd Delal. He played a large role in developing technical work in the Special Forces. At the same time, he faced the invasion operations of the enemy against Heftanîn at positions and waged a great war on the side of Esmer, Zelal and Bager.
There are elections in Turkey on May 14, how do you handle this?
Erdogan’s fascism has inflicted great pain on the Kurdish people for 20 years. From the beginning, their policy was based on annihilation and genocide against the Kurdish people, and they continue their policy with great pressure. They are a force that bases their existence on the destruction of the Kurdish people. They maintain such a policy during the election period as well. Erdogan is a mentality, a regime. It is a great danger especially for libertarian forces, women and youth. Women and youth should see this reality and stand up against it in these elections. This is a very important choice. Turkey will decide whether to live with fascism or with a democratic Turkey. Everyone should act according to this importance and go to the polls accordingly. These choices will determine the fate of women, youth and our society. Women, youth, Alevis, workers, we believe that these elections will be the victory of the Green Left Party. Fearing this, he detained press workers and politicians and put them in prison. There is also the possibility of turning these political operations into provocative conspiracy operations. Our people need to be sensitive about this issue as well.
They ended in the military in the Zap, and they will end in Ankara in the political sense, thanks to our people. This will pave the way for Turkey’s democratization and the bloodsucking dictatorships will end themselves at the ballot boxes. We believe this.
