NEWS CENTER – May 8, 1945 is celebrated as “Liberation Day” in many European countries, especially in France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia it is a recognized holiday. May 8, 1945 marks the official end of the Second World War, when the supreme commander of the armed forces of the Wehrmacht signed a declaration of surrender that evening. With this in mind, the German capitulation was announced a day later in Moscow. In the Soviet Union and today’s successor states, May 9 was celebrated as “Victory Day”.
The “unconditional surrender of all German armed forces” had already been agreed and contractually signed on May 7 during negotiations between the Allied armed forces in Reims. The following day, at 11:01 p.m., was then set as the official date for the cessation of all combat operations in Europe.
May 8th is also celebrated today as the day of liberation, but let us not be fooled, German fascism did not end with the laying down of arms. Fascism is an ideology that has become firmly entrenched in people’s minds and has manifested itself in state institutions in many parts of the world.
A historical date when it is appropriate to commemorate the victims of fascism and those who gave their lives fighting it. But also a date to remember once again that the fight against fascism is more necessary today than ever.
There are many examples that can be given to make it clear that the name “liberation from fascism” is a sham, in which the ruling forces tried to make the hostage society know that it was over. Like so many figureheads that the ruling forces want to give themselves, but the deed and practice is far from it.
If we look at the social situation in Europe, it is easy to see that, in addition to fascist groups trying to organize themselves in society, there is also a general fascism that is being driven around, which is definitely wanted by the political ranks in order to enforce profit-oriented interests to be able to
The colonial legacy of Napoleon that Hitler tried to continue has its influence on the capitalist organization of the economy to this day. Countries whose riches are being exploited, whose youth are driven into poverty and lack of prospects and who are fleeing their home countries due to war and violence. Their corpses were washed up by the thousands on the beaches of Europe, intended to serve to promise the working masses within Europe the deceptive word “tourism” in a profit-oriented plastic environment, rest and relaxation.
Those who manage to get to Europe are stuck at the borders, are exposed to massive racism, torture, massive controls and endlessly long waiting times under the worst circumstances. These people, whose countries are massively exploited by the hegemonic forces and are exposed to constant war and chaos, are once again forced to work at the borders of Europe, or within Europe, through so-called “statelessness”, “illegality” and “lack of papers” under the worst circumstances to do without being able to claim their rights as human beings.
People who have been living in Europe for years are exposed to daily hostilities and constant accusations of criminal activities. Especially in the last few years, murders by the police of (particularly) young people who come from other countries have increased, as is well known.
Second and third class people, people who exploit other people, throw them down, exploit them, don’t treat them as human beings. It is just an example and can be extended in many ways. Let’s look at the situation in Europe, but also everywhere else in the world the fascist mentality is on the rise, fed by capitalist greed for profit and lust for power.
People easily fall into his trap in search of happiness, freedom and justice. When they realize that what European states profess to be is not what they practice, they are often already in their clutches and can’t go back. When, as youth, we begin to rip the masks of these powers off their faces, we realize that the goals of the states have not changed, even deepened: economic exploitation, geostrategic control and, to achieve this, total social decomposition and control. What differs are the attempts to appear liberal. The brute force hits hardest those who have no voice, whose voice has been taken away by force or through assimilation.
In this sense, there needs to be an overall struggle, a struggle built on knowledge and education, a struggle built on social organization, with the knowledge that power can never be less right in the hands of an individual or a group. With the knowledge that the real power is that of social organization, social consciousness and social commonality. This is the only way the self-proclaimed rulers of the world can be unmasked and their crimes revealed. Of course, the powerful few try to destroy these attempts at every nook and corner, attack them and try to nip the smallest beginnings in the bud.
But as Rêber APO said, the best self-defence is ideological. What does he want to tell us with that? That we must first become clear to ourselves about the true face of the ruling system, that it is a system of exploitation and slavery. Educate ourselves and other youth about the overt and covert ways in which it binds or subjugates us, our families, our society, into a sense of powerlessness. On the other hand, organize ourselves, organize our collective life together, make it clear to our families and our society that a dignified future is only possible in our own mother countries and start working towards organizing society there, making them aware of their own strength and dignity .
In this sense, we commemorate all those who fell in the anti-fascist struggle as well as the victims of fascism from yesterday to today and raise in their memory the fight against a mentality that tries to destroy everything human, against an ideology that makes us inhuman and condemns us to eternal slaves want.
Great international solidarity. Freedom will triumph.
