NEWS CENTER – Ahead of the elections in Turkey, held on May 14, the Kurdish people of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan finally showed their will to break away from the fascism of the AKP-MHP regime in the course of elections via the newly formed Green Left Party to free. Election offices were ceremoniously opened everywhere and the population showed full of hope and motivation that they had not given up their resistance, despite the massive repression and attacks by the fascist mentality in Turkey.
The elections were a great hope for everyone, but the result of the elections made it clear that this fascist dictatorship can be elected by elections, but not voted out by elections. Ok, there may have been mistakes, there may have been weaknesses, but it also became clear that the regime in Turkey passed many votes that were meant for the Green Left Party, including the MHP.
After the elections are before the elections, so the election song of the Green Left party “Disa em” (We again) takes on a completely different meaning. This time the Turkish regime is showing even more clearly that they are planning to nip the resistance of the population in the bud with their policy of genocide against Kurdish society.
Not only that the Turkish fascist and interior minister Süleyman Soylu openly presented the plans of the occupation of Rojava and Syria (up to the city of Aleppo) on Turkish television, but also that the attacks on political representatives, people who work for the free press, Kurdish youth who are reinforced by Kurdish arts and culture. Now the Turkish occupation regime, in vile cooperation with the Iraqi government and the KDP, is trying to open the Maxmur refugee camp in southern Kurdistan, in which the people who had to flee their villages in northern Kurdistan 30 years ago and in a stony desert that faces nothing but death promised to have created new life to level the ground. The camp has been under a strong embargo for several years, preventing people from entering and leaving the camp.
The camp is home to over 12,000 people who, with their proud attitude, maintain their resistance despite the massive attacks and cruelty of the occupying Turkish regime and the betrayal of the KDP. 12,000 people who have felt the reality of the enemy all their lives and know full well that if they did not resist, they would not be able to live. Because the fascist regime promises them nothing but death.
Proud women and mothers bravely stepping up to the Iraqi army in protest at attempts to encircle and prison their homes. The people in the Maxmur refugee camp show us what it means, despite all adversity, despite the most horrible attacks and the psychological war, not to lose one’s dignity, to remain steadfast and to insist on one’s own rights.
They had to sacrifice a lot, left their homeland, sacrificed their children as Şehîd in the resistance, without a passport, without their rights being recognized, they created life out of nothing in a desert. Creating an alternative life, building their own schools and a university, building their own hospital, in autonomous self-government. They also protect themselves because they know that neither the KDP, nor the Iraqi army, nor the UN is paying for their protection. Because they have not lost their dignity, because they cling to their resistance, to their culture, their language, their identity as Kurds from the Botan area, they are constant targets of the attacks by the occupying Turkish state.
We still remember well the past drone attacks by the occupying Turkish state, in which a Kurdish Welatparêz was recently murdered in his house. We still remember the IS attacks on the camp, which were quickly averted by the resistance of the population.
In addition to what we in Europe can learn from this population in terms of resistance and a dignified attitude, one should also take a closer look at the reality of the enemy. What it actually means to take action against a refugee camp with armored vehicles, excavators and an armed army. A camp with people who have fled, people who are most in need of help in society because they have lost their home, home and family. People who have nothing but what is in their hands. The mentality of the state with its army is taking action against these people. An army that is supposed to be used to protect society, but is actually used against society, to protect the interests of the state, the rulers.
An army made up of the children of society, in the hands of the state, attacking their own society or any other society. But a soldier who points his gun at people in need, such as refugees, can only be a murderer. A soldier pointing his gun at youths trying to defend themselves from armored vehicles with a few rocks.
All those who are looking for an alternative, who are looking for a humane life, a life of self-government, of autonomy, of equality and in harmony with nature, should take their hat off to the resistance of this small group of People who, armed with nothing but their courage, their belief in a better world and their determination to fight for their rights, will stand in front of an army and whatever happens, will not clear the way to protect their haven and not yet to be evicted once.
All those who believed in the institution of the state, who thought that the state was also good, should consider the reality of the state as it is currently visible in Turkey, Iraq and Iran. These states in the Middle East act with the same mentality as the states in Europe or anywhere else in the world. Yes, they use different means, apply different methods, but the mentality, the mentality of the state is the same and should it be necessary, states all over the world will also turn their guns on their own people in order to further their own interests protection.
A reality that affects everyone, a reality that is caused by the resistance of the people of the Middle East, whether in Bakur, Rojava and Rojhilat Kurdistan, by the resistance of women in Afghanistan, the resistance of the people of Iran, especially the students in Iran and Rojhilat, by the resistance of the Kurdistan guerrillas.
As Şehîd Andok Özgür said, “let’s make sure that the true face of the state comes out. Let’s make sure that they can no longer fool us with their kind words, with their media, with their games. Let’s not fool ourselves. With elections we will not be able to free ourselves from this fascist regime, which bloodthirsty has stretched out its claws on the resistant population of Kurdistan. All signs indicate that the war in Kurdistan will intensify. A war of existence and non-existence. A war of win all or lose all.”
Not only for the Kurdish population, but also for people worldwide, for whom the resistance of the Kurds, for whom the philosophy and thoughts of Rêber APO have become great hope. A hope that an alternative life without the capitalist system, without power, state and violence is possible. Who believe in Rêber APO’s thoughts and, infected by the revolution in Rojava, work all over the world to ensure that there will not only be just one but many Rojavas in the future.
