QAMISHLI – An official in the Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC) in northeast Syria revealed that “soon” preparations will be complete to open the first hospital specialized in the treatment of burns, cancer, and thalassemia in the city of Qamishli.
The Kurdish Red Crescent is active in the areas held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
Hassan Amin, the co-chair of the KRC, told North Press that the hospital will be fully equipped by international organizations “so we can officially open the hospital and provide free of charge services.”
There is a medical staff trained in all specializations in the hospital, he added.
The hospital consists of three floors. The first floor is designated for treating tumors ( Department of Checkups and dormitory). The second floor is for treating burns, and the third is for thalassemia patients. “There are plans to establish a department for a blood bank for thalassemia patients,” according to Amin.
The official did not disclose the financial cost of establishing the hospital, if the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) had any role in the funding or by the KRC, or if it was established in cooperation with other organizations.
