NEWS CENTER – Newroz holidays and celebrations have their own meaning and message for each nation and are related to different stories and legends. Some people believe that it is the beginning of human life on earth, because it begins in the middle of spring, when the season of rebirth of nature and blooming begins after the cold. In astronomy, the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere is when the sun crosses the Earth’s equator and heads north. This time came in the first month of spring. At the same time, Newroz Day is March 21 in the Gregorian calendar.
During Newroz, Kurds use the sun as a means of living with nature. With the leadership of women and youth, Newroz makes the achievement of freedom, liberation and resistance against occupation and fascism a reality. Newroz has a deep political and social meaning for the Kurds and their cause. This happened especially in the North and then in Rojava Kurdistan with the emergence of the PKK against the occupation and fascism of the Turkish regime.
The resistance that can be seen today in the fields of Newroz is the result of the historical events of the Kurds, and in the modern era, the resistance of Kawe Sardam Mazlum Dogan and his friends in 1982 has given a new spirit. Kurds and their Newroz. The resistance of Mazlum Dogan, Sama, Zekiya Alkan, Rahshan Demirel, Runahi and Berivan, which comes from the struggle, idealism and philosophy of Leader Apo, gave another meaning to Newroz, and Newroz is the spirit of that resistance.
Leader Apo also called the PKK as the party of Newroz, with his struggle, he came out with all the historical values of this holiday. With the emergence of the PKK, Newroz became a political and social culture. The Newroz area became the place of all kinds of protest against the Zahaks of the time. Celebrating Newroz with fire and rioting in the fields are the most radical stance against fascism of the era.
Newroz has taken its right path under the leadership of young people, young people light the Newroz fire and bury it. Young people make the Newroz fields a place of fear for the bloodthirsty fascist enemy of the history of Kurds and Kurdistan. They turn the streets into rivers of rebellion and boldly shout their demands. The patriotic and revolutionary youths are now like Newroz every day with the dynamism of beauty like a tsunami and step by step they are going to destroy fascism.
