BEHDÎNAN – In a written statement, the HPG press center said: “The occupying Turkish army continues its intensive attacks on our forces, using all the warfare techniques at its disposal.”
The HPG press center made the following statements: “The resistance positions of our forces were bombed 1 time with prohibited bombs and 103 times with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons. It has been clarified that our comrade Ronahî Penaber who fell on January 22-23, 2023 in the area of Besta in Botan Şehîd.
The details of the attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish army were given as follows:
“In the Zap region;
- On March 1st at 13:30 our resistance positions in Sîda were attacked by the invaders and our forces responded with heavy weapons in self-defense.
- On March 2nd at 06:30 our resistance positions in Çemço were attacked by the invaders, our YJA Star forces responded with snipers in self-defense and as a result one invader was punished.
Attacks by the occupying Turkish army with banned bombs;
- On March 1st, our resistance positions in Sîda were bombed 1 time with prohibited bombs.
Attacks by the occupying Turkish army;
- On March 1st and 2nd, our resistance positions in Çemço and Sîda were bombed 103 times with attack helicopters, howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons.
In our statement of February 5, 2023, we informed that 6 of our Hevals fell in the clashes with the enemy in the area of Besta in Botan on January 22-23, 2023. We also shared the detailed information about the identity of our comrades Rojbîn, Delîla, Sila, Nûda and Dîrok and stated that we will inform our people when the detailed information about the identity of our other comrade becomes known. Our sixth comrade who fell to Şehîd is our Fedaî commander Ronahî Penaber”.

The statement said of the guerrilla Ronahî Penaber:
“Wan, one of the oldest cities in Kurdistan, has not given up its line of resistance despite all the attacks of the fascist and colonialist Turkish state and has been one of our leading cities where the Welatparêzî is most strongly lived. Our Wan society, which has managed not only to survive but also to provide the strongest responses to all genocidal attacks with its strong tribal structure, is one of the clearest examples in this regard. Our comrade Ronahî was born and raised in a welatparêzen family belonging to the Mamxurî tribe, one of our ancient tribes that has such a strong tradition, has always been present in the struggle to protect its honor against these attacks and the price of it has paid. Growing up in a family and a neighborhood that is closely linked to our freedom struggle gave rise to a welatparêzes consciousness in our comrade Ronahî from an early age. The fact that she emigrated to Maxmûr with her family, which was exposed to the fascist Turkish state’s village burning and expulsion policies early on, led our comrade Ronahî to develop an enemy consciousness and great anger. Comrade Ronahî, who grew up longing for her native land, always dreamed of holding the enemy to account. Our comrade Ronahî, realizing that the realization of her dream by joining the guerrilla would be possible, joined the guerrilla in 2009. gave rise to a welatparêzes consciousness in our comrade Ronahî early on. Comrade Ronahî, who came to the free mountains of Kurdistan with great enthusiasm, was able to maintain this enthusiasm until her martyrdom. Our comrade Ronahî’s anger towards the enemy and her love for the guerrilla allowed her to adapt to life more quickly. Our comrade Ronahî, who completed the new fighter training in Xakurkê, went into practice after successfully completing the training. Our comrade Ronahî, who took on various tasks in the areas of Xinêrê, Avaşîn, Cîlo, Garê and Metîna, gained great experience. Our comrade Ronahî, who developed militarily during her practice, specialized by completing branch training and showed a more active participation in the practice as a professional guerrilla. In all the surroundings in which she stayed, she took on the role of a stabilizer in life and showed color with her courage and determined attitude. Our comrade Ronahî, who had an arduous and self-sacrificing participation, was taken as an example by her comrades with these qualities. During this period, our comrade Ronahî, realizing that military development alone is not enough, especially as a female guerrilla, received training at Şehîd Berîtan’s Free Women’s Academy. Our comrade Ronahî, seeing more clearly the shortcomings of the practices she carried out during the training and having the opportunity to concentrate, was able to draw important lessons from these shortcomings. Our comrade Ronahî, Focusing deeply on the principles of free women and putting them into practice during the formation process, she shared her development through the discussions she led with her comrades and knew how she was able to teach what she was learning. Our comrade Ronahî, who with her humble attitude managed to become a comrade loved and respected by comrades, continued this involvement until her martyrdom. Also during the training process, she developed a deep focus on understanding and putting into practice the ideology of women’s liberation. Our comrade Ronahî, who always had discussions about the organization of women, made firm strides towards becoming a pioneering YJA Star Commander due to the practices she conducted and the experience she gained. Our comrade Ronahî, who aspired to live and fight in the lineage of Zîlan and Berîtan, knew how to transmit this aspiration to her comrades.
Our comrade Ronahî, who managed to bring to consciousness her hatred and anger towards the enemy, managed to turn her feelings into a basis for her struggle. Our comrade Ronahî, intensifying her struggle as her anger grew, moved to Botan, which on this basis is the guerrilla’s kibbeh. Our comrade Ronahî, who was active here in many fields, carried out successful practices as a pioneer commander of the YJA Star. Our comrade Ronahî, who played a leading role in many actions that dealt heavy blows to the enemy, became a source of strength and morale for her comrades through her courage and determination. Our comrade Ronahî, who throughout her revolutionary life adhered to the line of the Şehîds and fought for it,
On January 22, 2023, clashing with the enemy in the area of Besta, our comrade Ronahî achieved martyrdom and joined the Caravan of the Immortals. Our comrade Ronahî left a great legacy of resistance in her life with her resolute and courageous attitude. As their comrades, we promise that we will increase the legacy of resistance left to us by all our Şehîds, especially our comrade Ronahî, and live the life of their dreams.
In this sense, we express our condolences to the welatparêzen society of Kurdistan, especially to the welatparêzen family of our comrade Ronahî.”
