HESEKÊ – Today in Hesekê hundreds of people gathered in the city theater to remember the memories of the internationalist martyrs who gave their lives in defense of the Rojava Revolution. Among the participants were present the parents of Martyr Andok Çotkar (Konstantin Gedig), who fell on October 17, 2019 in the struggle for the defense of Serekaniye against the invasion of the Turkish fascist state.
Present at the meeting were members of the internationalist organizations present in Rojava, such as the Internationalist Commune of Rojava, YPG International, YPJ International, Tekoshina Anarchist, Jineolojî Committee and others. As well as Kurdish society organizations such as the center of martyrs’ families and YPG/YPJ leaders who spoke at the meeting.
After a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Revolution a special video was shown, followed by the speech of Konstantin’s mother – who received remembrances from the internationalist coordination and people from Raqqa, the city which Konstantin fought together with other comrades to liberate from ISIS control in 2017. In addition, there were theater performances, poetry readings, and songs to encourage the revolutionary spirit and keep alive the memories of the martyrs.
The meeting ended with slogans of “Martyrs are immortal” and “Long live the Sisterhood among the peoples”
