NEWS CENTER – As it is known, the day between March 21, Newroz, and March 28, the martyrdom of our immortal commander, Comrade Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), has been declared as the Week of Heroism. Indeed, the rising resistance and the developed struggle in this period created heroic epics. In the history of our people, there are heroes, there are valiants. However, with the emergence of Rêber Apo’s thought, ideology and philosophy, the heroism in the content of the Kurdish people grew and rose. It can be said that the courage and heroism in the personality of the Kurdish people combined with the philosophy of Rêber Apo and turned into a will of steel. He became an indestructible strength and courage.
While the Kurdish Freedom Movement became integrated with Newroz at Çubuk Dam in 1973, he wrote the Contemporary Kawa Epic with Mazlum Doğan in the Amed Dungeon in 1982 Newroz. He liberated the mountains of Kurdistan with the August 15, 1984 Breakthrough under the command of Mahsum Korkmaz. This 50-year-old struggle continues to represent a force of freedom that does not relent to the enemy. The Kurdistan Freedom Movement has never forgotten its martyrs who unleashed this power.
For this reason, the PKK declared March 21-28 as the Week of Heroism at its 3rd Congress, and started to commemorate all the martyrs of freedom in the person of Mazlum Doğan and Mahsum Korkmaz. Leader Apo expresses the following in his evaluation of a Martyr Egit;
“Yes, it is necessary to know and understand him. Comrade Agit is beautiful, Comrade Agit is brave, Comrade Agit is a self-sacrificing person!
This soul mate must be remembered and sought after. Especially today, when the unbearable life picture of our people, who still carry the shameful heritage of history like a chain on their neck and feet, is in sight, it is a necessity like breathing and breathing to meet such a personality, to take part in the current created by him, to be his companion and to reach his greatness. . Comrade Agit is a great person who knew from the beginning to the end that the chain of martyrs had a brain and a heart, and had the power to fit the hearts and minds of the entire people into one person. A person can be worthy of the attributes of greatness and valor if he has attained his qualities. What a word to speak of death for someone who has created such a reality! Can someone who has been absorbed into the noblest of life, who has become himself, die?”
From Mazlum Doğan to Martyr Egit, Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas continue to fight with the spirit of heroism.
