NEWS CENTER – Tomorrow is the 166th anniversary of International Working Women’s Day. Therefore, the Platform for Joint Actions of Women’s Movements and Organizations of Northern and Eastern Syria launched a series of activities with the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom towards the revolution of women” on February 28.
QAMISHLO
On March 8, an exhibition of folkloric works was opened at the Syrian Free Women’s Foundation in Qamishlo. Dozens of Kurdish and Arab women who took part in the handiwork were present at the exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is to give support to women and to reveal the role of women in protecting the culture of the constituents.
ÇILAXA
Çilaxa district council planted 100 tree saplings in Azadi Forest in the east of the district.
Before starting the planting of tree seedlings, the Co-Chairman of the Cultivation Directorate of Henan Şemo congratulated all the fighters and Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on the arrival of March 8. Henan said: “We organized this event to reward the work and struggle of women. The women’s revolution with the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom” will win with the efforts of all women around the world.”
With the participation of dozens of male and female members of the council, 100 saplings were planted in the forest.
KOBANE
The Women’s Council of the Democratic Unity Party (PYD) of the Euphrates Region held a panel on the history of March 8 and its effects on the women’s struggle. Members of political parties and civil organizations in the region were present in the panel. The co-chairman of the Euphrates Region’s Social Affairs Board Helin Haçim and the executive member of the Star Congress Coordination of the region Peyman Eloş moderated the panel.
The speakers drew attention to the way of liberation from the mentality of power over women. Finally, the participants informed that women should follow the methods and philosophy of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
GIRE SPI
Girê Spî Kongra Star held a march with the participation of hundreds of Ein Isa residents. The march started from the front of the great mosque to the Martyr Cudi Circle. During the march, the participants took pictures of the martyrs of the Helenc massacre, Zehre Berkel, the presence of Mela Xelil and Emine Weysi, as well as the pictures of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Luceyn Salim, a member of the Coordination Star Congress of the Euphrates Region, spoke at the wheel and congratulated all the women of the world on March 8. Luceyn said that the women of North and East Syria broke the barriers and after the Rojava Revolution, North and East Syria raised a great struggle.
Luceyn Salim drew attention to the crimes committed by the occupying Turkish state and its mercenaries against women in the occupied areas and called on all women in the occupied areas to rebel against the occupying Turkish state.
The march ended with the slogans “Long live the free woman”.
