Karayılan’s speech broadcast on Gerîla TV on the occasion of Newroz and Heroism Week is as follows:
Hello, all Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas, youth of Kurdistan and the region. Our people and the peoples of the region welcomed the 2023 Newroz with great enthusiasm. Particularly the participation of you young people, the participation of Kurdistan women was at a high level and they played the leading role. All Newroz celebrations were held with the slogans of Bîjî Rêber Apo, physical freedom for Rêber Apo. This slogan and demand rose. What our people wanted and why they acted during this period was very well seen and understood in this Newroz. We greet everyone who participated in the Newroz enthusiasm with great enthusiasm and wish them success in their work.
HERO’S WEEK
Dear friends, we are now in Hero Week. As it is known, the day between March 21, Newroz, and March 28, the martyrdom of our immortal commander, Comrade Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), has been declared as the Week of Heroism. Indeed, the rising resistance and the developed struggle in this period created heroic epics. In the history of our people, there are heroes, there are valiants. However, with the emergence of Rêber Apo’s thought, ideology and philosophy, the heroism in the content of the Kurdish people grew and rose. It can be said that the courage and heroism in the personality of the Kurdish people combined with the philosophy of Rêber Apo and turned into a will of steel. He became an indestructible strength and courage.
DUNGEON RESISTANCES
The dungeons of hegemon states are the places where they develop their hegemony the most. The act of sacrifice by Comrade Mazlum Doğan at the 1982 Newroz was a historic breakthrough when cruelty became evident in the Amed Dungeon. It was a rebellion against oppression. It was a celebration of Newroz in accordance with the spirit of Newroz. After that, on 18 May, Ferhat Kurtay and his three friends set their bodies on fire, protesting the enemy and increasing the resistance. After that, on July 14, that great action developed under the leadership of comrades Mehmet Hayri Durmuş, Kemal Pir, Akif Yılmaz and Ali Çiçek, and the enemy was defeated in the fortress of oppression. The will of the revolution, the will of the revolutionaries and the will of the Apoists have achieved success. This is how the rebellion they developed with their own bodies, courage and will in the dungeon got results.
AUGUST 15 JUMP
The development of the August 15 Initiative against the fascist junta of September 12 in 1984 was a new era in the history of our people’s struggle. It was very meaningful. But under those conditions, it was not easy to make such a breakthrough and to dare to do so. Our immortal great commander, Comrade Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), showed this courage, and the actions carried out in Eruh and Şemdinli under his leadership started a brand new era in the Kurdish people’s struggle for existence and freedom. The actions that took place in Eruh under the leadership of the commanders Egîd, Bedran (Mehmet Sevgat) and Erdal (Mustafa Yöndem) left their mark on the period. Comrade Egîd did not just take an action. With the beginning of the armed struggle, he took a group of friends with him, labored, participated in the withdrawal process, trained in the Palestinian field and returned to the country. Preparing the infrastructure of the armed struggle, The role and mission of Comrade Egîd was very important in developing the guerrilla, establishing the guerrilla line, and developing the guerrilla’s tactics and style. On the 37th anniversary of Comrade Egîd’s martyrdom, we once again commemorate Comrade Egîd, the heroes of the revolution, our valiant martyrs, and bow respectfully before their memory. We repeat our promise to them once again. We will not leave their weapons on the ground, we will raise their flags, we will keep their memories alive in the free life we will create in Free Leadership and Free Kurdistan. HEROES OF HERO
There are undoubtedly many heroic epics in Hero Week. Dear comrades Zekiye Alkan, Rahşan Demirel, Ronahî and Bêrîvan, Sema Yüce sacrificed themselves for Newroz to be Newroz and to celebrate Newroz as desired. They intensified the Newroz fire with their bodies, they made Newroz Newroz. In the footsteps of Comrade Mazlum Doğan and in the footsteps of Çağdaş Kawa, they strengthened the Newroz spirit and Newroz fire. Hundreds of Newroz martyrs and heroes were killed in Cizîr, Nisêbîn and many parts of Kurdistan to celebrate Newroz. This is how Hero Week really became Hero Week.
Comrades ZINAR, ŞAHİN AND CEMAL…
We had many comrades who became martyrs during the Week of Heroism. Comrades Sinan, Navdar and Serhat Varto, who were martyred in recent years, were the owners of a great effort and honor. Comrade Sinan, i.e. Ali Aktaş, was the first to step into Botan with Egîd friend and started working in Besta, in Sirnex. All of these comrades have labor, role and mission in our struggle. We remember them all. Again, as a result of the air attacks developed by the enemy, comrades Zınar Tatvan, Şahin Gever and Cemal Amed reached martyrdom with their friends. They were great heroes. Each of them worked for years, took part in this war and labored. These guys are newly announced. Therefore, we offer our condolences to the families of very dear friends and the people of Kurdistan. They were our working comrades, We are committed to our promise to these comrades and will not let their sighs fall. They were the heroes of the time. Comrade Cemal Amed wanted very much to go to the land of Amed. He came from a family with a certain labor and history. He was also a very important asset of ours, he was a commander with labor and role. Undoubtedly, the martyrdom of these comrades is a loss for us. But in the footsteps of their memories, we magnify the spirit of heroism, the Apoist spirit of sacrifice, and welcome the Newroz fire and the Heroic Week much stronger.
MANY MOVEMENTS OF OUR MOVEMENT STARTED WITH NEWROZ
All the resistances that developed during the Heroic Week are a first in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. Because as you know, Newroz is a new day for us, a new year. It is the day to grow the resistance, rebellion, movement organization, struggle and unity. Therefore, many moves of our Movement started with Newroz and Heroic Week. One head of the Heroic Week is Comrade Mazlum Doğan, and the other head is Comrade Mahsum Korkmaz. In the meantime, we have many heroes involved. This is an honor for us, a very valuable honor. They did not act for money, fame, and make a life for themselves, as some people do now. These comrades sacrificed themselves only for the freedom of their society, for their thought and ideology. They raised the spirit of sacrifice, self-sacrifice, and spirituality. What is life, what is free life, They are examples of how a person can sacrifice himself for a free life, for a free society, for a free country. These comrades did not do this because they were so narrowed and had difficulties. No!
ZEKİYE ALKAN
For example, Zekiye Alkan. He is a friend from Kurdistan, his family lives in Izmir, he is studying at the Medical University in Amed, he will become a doctor. But she wants to have an honorable and honorable stance. That’s why he sees it as his duty to transform himself into a Newroz call in the signs of Amed. That’s how she turned herself into a call. This shows the essence of Kurdish women and their people. So she shows that she can sacrifice herself for her cause and her people. These are the cultivation of spirituality and the spirit of freedom. This is how free life will be created. We are very proud to be the comrades of such comrades. It is an honor for us that our pioneers act with such dignity and dignity, and that they live for their honor and dignity. They struggled and created epics that way.
YAŞAR Comrade
We have witnessed many such heroes. There are many such heroes in our struggle. But this year, we want to show the martyrs as an example, the comrades whose heroism we witness many times on a daily basis, not just once. As it is known, Comrade Yaşar Botan was martyred in Dersim on March 1. He was the commander of Dersim. He had labor, role and mission. We got to know him closely. He was our security commander for three years. Botanli was from Silopi. He was from the zêvkî tribe. It represented the patriotism and honesty of the Botan society. He was the epitome of this with his courage, sacrifice and honesty. We got to know and see what kind of gem he has. Indeed, he stood out with these features throughout his entire life in our struggle. His family is patriotic, he is now in Maxmur. My condolences to his family and all our Maxmur people.
DILIL AND BARAN YOLAŞLAR
Again, comrades Delil Zagros and Baran Çırav acted with us for a long time and assumed duties. We witnessed their sacrifice, honesty and self-sacrifice. Especially, Comrade Delil, with his courage, hard work and intelligence, destroyed the enemy’s great plan on us with his immediate intervention. If we live now, we live thanks to valiant people like Delil. While raising our struggle and developing the great resistance in Girê Amiye, he was martyred. He was the commander there. He played a huge role in the military aspect. He was a true valiant, a valiant of the period. All Çatak, Wan, Alan tribe youths can be proud that such a valiant amongst them. Likewise, Comrade Baran was like that, he was from the Çırav region of Botan. He represented Apoist sacrifice with his spirit and stance. These comrades will never be forgotten. These comrades, who were members of the special forces, fulfilled their courage, self-sacrifice, devotion to the Apoist line, self-sacrifice, and their roles and missions. All three were from Botan, and Çatak was from Botan. They represented the essence of Botan society, valor, courage and sacrifice in the history of Botan.
BOTAN AND SERHAT YOUTH SHOULD FOLLOW THESE YTIS
On this occasion, my call to all Botan and Serhat youth; Follow these braves. It is my call to all young people of Kurdistan, to the youth of the region; such modern braves represent the great truth, follow them. How one lives, makes their life meaningful and makes history are examples of this. Therefore, every young person who does not want to live in vain and wants to live meaningfully should follow Yaşarlar, Evidence and Baran. My call to all young people; follow the heroes, join the fight wherever you are, lead the serhildans and join the guerrilla ranks. Joining the guerrilla ranks is the most valuable and honorable peak in patriotism and militancy. We believe that all of the young people who shout slogans with great enthusiasm in Newroz are the precious youth of Kurdistan, they have a great gem. in every way they can play a role worthy of our sacred values. This is our belief in the youth, on the basis of this belief, we continue this struggle with great faith. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is developing a historical resistance on this basis today.
THE CASE OF OUR PEOPLE OF EFRIN WILL NOT STAY ON THE GROUND
Dear comrades, a massacre took place in Afrin this Newroz. There has been torture, kidnapping, death and persecution in Afrin for 5 years. So far, hundreds of our people have been martyred by the gangs affiliated with the fascist Turkish regime. Our last 4 patriotic people, 4 brothers, are attacked while burning the holy Newroz fire, some of them are martyred and some of them are beaten. We strongly condemn this massacre. We commemorate these esteemed martyrs and express our condolences to their families and all Afrin people. They are martyrs of the revolution, their cause will not remain on the ground.
CONDITIONS TO THE SDF COMMAND AND THE FAMILIES OF THE MARTYRS
On March 15, a helicopter crash took place in the Duhok district of Behdinan. It was announced that 9 SDF members under the command of Şervan Kobanê and members of the YAT, a private institution, were martyred. As far as we know, YAT is an anti-terrorist organization. It has proven itself in the fight against ISIS. They are valuable young people who become pilots by training. We know that since Şêx Mehmûd Berzencî, bombardments have been carried out on our people by the invading hegemonic forces with planes. Now the invaders are dropping bombs on us every day and attacking us with planes. Our people do not have such tools at their disposal. But now it seems that some Kurdish youth have learned to be a pilot and are using aircraft. This is a joyous thing. Indeed, we were glad to learn about it. We see the martyrdom of these valuable youth, commanders and fighters as a loss for all Kurds. Our condolences to the SDF Command and the families of these esteemed martyrs. Our condolences to all Rojava Kurdistan and North-East Syria.
THE KURDISH WARRANTY SHOULD BE SUSPECTED ABOUT THE KURDISH MARTYR
Indeed, it is sad for all of us to lose losses in such an accident. Unfortunately, we see that some Bashure Kurdistan officials talk about this incident with a disrespectful language, without expressing their regret and with an opposite approach. Regardless of the internal problems of the Kurds, such an approach should not happen, especially in such a painful event. There will be opposition, but one is surprised at such hostility. Undoubtedly, we do not see these approaches as correct. Every Kurd who does not feel pain due to the martyrdom of Kurdish fighters should be questioned about his Kurdishness. This is a loss and a loss for all Kurds. These people were educated, educated and proved themselves in the war against ISIS. On the way, they are caught in the wind and storm, they get lost and fall. This is cause for sadness. Whoever it is, as a necessity of a moral and human approach, first of all, one should express his sadness about this event. We hope that in this important period, every Kurdish individual will work for the freedom and liberation of the Kurds. It strengthens the spirit of patriotism, the spirit of national unity. On this basis, let us honor the spirit of the martyrs of all four parts of Kurdistan and establish Free Kurdistan. This is what is required of us.
2023 IS THE DATE AND IT WILL BE AN IMPORTANT YEAR
Dear friends; 2022, the year of struggle we left behind, was a great year in the struggle of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, it was an epic year, a year of great resistance. The resistance that developed this year throughout Kurdistan, especially in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna, foiled the enemy’s plans of genocide and occupation on our people. Their plan did not succeed, it was fruitless. Undoubtedly, it was paid for. Many heroic epics were created. But great gains were also made for the Kurdish people. This is how we enter the new year, 2023. It seems that the next 2023 will be a historic and important year, just like 2022. It will be the year of results. The Newroz celebrations and the participation of our people showed this. The year we are in will not be ordinary, it will be a big year.
