NEWS CENTER – The Internationalsitin Sara Ronahî, who was active in various internationalist structures in Rojava and was also active in the YPJ International, wrote down her thoughts and memories of Helîn in memory of Helîn Qerecox. Helîn Qerecox died on March 15, 2018 during the occupation invasion of the Turkish fascist regime in Afrin by a drone attack, at the age of 26. Helîn Qerecox is an Internationalsit who joined the Women’s Defense Units YPJ International from the United Kingdom.
HELÎN ENCHANTED EVERYONE WITH HER SMILE
“Helîn, I didn’t know you well. We met once, you came straight up to me and greeted me warmly. But we didn’t have a chance to talk longer. Later, after you fell to Şehîd, I got to know you better through the people who knew you better, through their stories, through their bond with you.
I carried your gun Your weapon. You were so determined to go to Afrin to do your part to prevent the occupying Turkish state from occupying Afrin. You left us early, you could still have done so much, still enchanted so many wonderful people with your smile, your warmth, your curiosity. But you still left your mark. Many have come after you. came for you Like you, wanted to be a part of what fascinates freedom-seeking people around the world. Wanted to experience and get to know what drove you here. Into the revolution, to Rojava.
You turned on everyone around you, mesmerized you, and you still do today. Not only your father is fascinated by you and your path, but also your friends, your environment, people who have met you on your way.
You sacrificed your life for the revolution, for Afrin society, and even if the war for Afrin has not been won to this day, it is certain that one day it will be won. Vengeance will be taken for you and all the Şehîds. Revenge for the suffering that the people of Afrin had to experience, revenge for the destruction that was done in Afrin.
In this struggle you live on, Helin. You live on in the internationalist struggle, Helin. In the struggle of every YPJ fighter, you live on Helin. With each connection to the YPJ International, your fight will increase a bit. With each new arrival of an internationalist in Rojava, the bridge you have built strengthens, your fight for internationalist fraternity and the common fight for freedom strengthens.
