NEWS CENTER – On the day of Newroz on March 21, which is the symbol of resistance and rebellion for the Kurdish people, Kurdistan freedom guerrillas have another excitement and emotion. YJA Star guerrillas spoke to ANF about their feelings and expectations regarding Newroz.
YJA Star guerrilla Adar Ararat, who started her speech by saying “I congratulate the Newroz of our leadership, our martyr friends and our people”, stated that they entered this Newroz with great excitement and enthusiasm, as they do every year in the mountains of Kurdistan. Adar Ararat stated that despite all the efforts of the fascist genocidal state, the Kurdish people have not forgotten the historical Newroz tradition.
Therefore, the enthusiasm and celebrations of Newroz in the mountains of Kurdistan are seen as a response to the cruel Dehaks. This year, we will further enlarge the legacy and struggles of our friends with the fire of Newroz. We will definitely ensure the physical freedom of Leader Apo and the freedom of the Kurdish people.”
WE WILL BURN THE FIRE OF NEWROZ WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE MARTYRS
Celebrating People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish people’s Newroz, YJA Star guerrilla Rojîn Befircan also made the following assessments regarding the Newroz of 2023: “It is much more meaningful for me to welcome Newroz, especially as a woman. The meaning of Newroz this year is very different for us. In the invasion attacks, dozens of our friends were martyred in front of our eyes with chemical weapons. We will light this year’s Newroz fire with the spirit and spirituality of these friends, and we will commemorate them by making the Newroz fire even stronger.”
Stating that the Newroz fire lit by Mazlum Doğan represents the spirit of resistance not only for the Kurdish people but for all oppressed peoples, YJA Star guerrilla Rojîn Befircan said, “We will intensify this fire in the footsteps of the Oppressed and the Skies. The genocidal state is attacking us and our people with all kinds of methods. However, it cannot extinguish the fire of resistance that the Kurdish people have burned. This resistance will grow and the Newroz fire will always grow stronger.”
Referring to the spirit of resistance and freedom of Newroz, HPG guerrilla Dilxwaz Teyî said, “I congratulate everyone, especially Rêber Apo, on Newroz Day. Every spark of the Newroz fire will be the moment of resistance, success and freedom of the peoples. This year’s Newroz will intensify the fire of resistance in Kurdistan and bring along a year full of struggle. Newroz is an ancient culture for us Kurds, we define this day not only as a day of joy and happiness, but also as a meaningful and important day. The enemy who wants to invade Kurdistan also aims to destroy our culture. Against this, we will make this year the year of physical freedom and success of Rêber Apo, and we will intensify the Newroz fire with Mazlum’s spirit of resistance.
With this spirit of resistance, we will have our existence and identity. For us, Newroz is the symbol of resistance, peace, unity and freedom. Today, we are fighting for the freedom of our people in the mountains of Kurdistan against all the attacks of the enemy. We are following in Mazlum Doğan’s footsteps. Today, thousands of oppressed are fighting in the mountains of freedom. We must protect our identity and culture against the invading enemy. No matter what happens, we will not kneel, we will not give up our resistance and struggle. No one can extinguish the spark of our fire of resistance.”
KURDISH PEOPLE DID NOT SUIT THE TURKISH STATE’S GENOCIDE
Emphasizing that Newroz is a symbol of victory and resistance for the Kurdish people, HPG guerrilla Dilxwaz Germiyan said: “The Kurdish people have faced many invasions and genocidal attacks so far. Against this, the Kurds have always been in a state of resistance and rebellion. The resistance of contemporary Kawa Mazlum Doğan and his comrades is an example of this. They did not succumb to the cultural genocide of the fascist Turkish state and resisted until their last breath. Today, this resistance has increased even more. The Kurdish people and PKK guerrillas have come to this day through this tradition of resistance. Today, every PKK guerrilla resisting the occupation has become Çağdaş Kawa. There was a great earthquake in Northern Kurdistan last month and our people suffered a lot. Due to the difficulties experienced, this year’s Newroz will be a Newroz of solidarity with earthquake victims.”
