NEWS CENTER – On March 18, an international women’s delegation from Germany visited Southern Kurdistan to do research on the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ philosophy and the situation in the region. The international women’s delegation headed by the Kurdish Women’s Bureaucracy Organization (REPAK) met with women from different parties. REPAK held a seminar in Sulaymaniyah together with a women’s delegation composed of women’s rights activists from Bolivia, Eritrea, South Korea and Iran. A press release was made after the seminar.
Speaking at the press release, REPAK Member Şilan Şakir said: “We are hosting the women’s delegation that has been in Kurdistan for a few days. As a result of the discussions we had, we agreed that women face problems of a universal nature throughout the world. All over the world, women have problems of freedom. On the other hand, a women’s freedom struggle is being waged all over the world with the slogan ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’.”
Then, speaking on behalf of the international delegation, Riha stated the following on the same issue: “We came to Kurdistan to do research on women’s issues. We visited many women’s associations. We are looking for ways to unite with Kurdish women. We discussed the occupation problem. We realized that many countries are under occupation and one of these countries is Kurdistan.”
Talking to the Roj News agency, Caroline Kim, a member of the International Women’s Delegation who visited Southern Kurdistan, stated that fighting for freedom is a duty not only for Kurdish women, but for women all over the world.
Caroline Kim, who stated that as international feminist women, they come together with Kurdish women every year on March 8 and participate in the events, stated that this year they went to visit Sulaymaniyah in Southern Kurdistan to learn about the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ philosophy.
“After the riots in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, this slogan became even more widespread. Everyone in Europe has heard of this slogan. However, the basis of this particular slogan is the Kurdish Freedom Movement. We wanted to do research on the philosophy of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’.”
Stating that they were very impressed by the strong stance of Kurdish women, Caroline Kim said, “We were very impressed by Kurdish women. They give us hope and inspiration. They express that they will always continue the struggle so that women can reach their goals.
Until now, women have been deprived of their freedom and rights in many parts of the world. For this reason, fighting for freedom is the duty of not only Kurdish women, but all women of the world. We must fight together to regain our rights and freedoms.”
