NEWS CENTER – Internationalist Alina Sanchez was the first Latin American person to join the ranks of the Kurdistan Revolution, she fell martyr due to a car accident in Hesekê – Rojava on March 17, 2018.

There she got to know the thoughts of Rêber Apo, the ideology of women’s liberation and the guerrilla’s way of dealing with nature. She was enthusiastic and a loving revolutionary with a big heart.

This time she went to Rojava and supported the construction processes of the autonomous self-government and was involved in the construction of the medical, health system. During her work, she was traveling in Hesekê and fell due to a car accident on on March 17, 2018.
Alina has built bridges from Latin America to Kurdistan, from the mountains to the cities and metropolises. Those who met her quickly took her to their hearts. In deep attachment, Alina is remembered in Latin America with stories, encounters, wishes and dreams, by all those who are also in search of a more just world.
Her mother, Patricia Gregorini sent our agency a video in her memory talking about the person Alina was and how she influenced those around her:
“Good morning, I am Patricia Gregorini, mother of Alina Sanchez (Lêgerîn Çiya) I am sending this video because I know you will celebrate Alina’s memory and I would like to tell you that Alina was a person very committed to her ideal with her generosity, her dedication, I’m not going to tell you who Alina was because there are many texts about.
I just want to say that Alina was always a very cheerful, vital person, with a lot of generosity and capacity for love. Therefore, for her, to have children was to see herself responsible for all the children in the world. Precisely, for her the idea of having her own children was something selfish. She chose this path from her mission, she felt that there were already many children in need and dedicated herself to work for them. For the children, for adults, for everybody.
She took as a personal motto, what Che said: “To be present where is the most needed” So for her at that point, her family of origin and genetics, was a space that did not encompass everybody. The whole was humanity, the world, and she rightly gave her energy, her time, her life and she fell into this task. But not for this, I do not see it from the sadness of being far from her body but I see it from the expansion of the being that she created from her generosity and involving other people, including me, who opened other spaces of exchange and understanding.
I believe Alina is a role model, a model for youth, that sometimes is so trivialized and superficial, the current culture is very frivolous (worthless) so without a doubt, Alina is one of many other role models, to be followed. I think it is more important to share this than a story that you can find in some text on the internet.
I hope you have a good time and that you have the opportunity to come and see the Alina Sanchez Space here in the Serra do Cordo, that all of you stay well. Thank you.”
