NEWS CENTER – In the statement made by the committee, it was stated that the PKK is a movement committed to humanitarian, moral, conscientious and democratic values and said, “Our party has no relations with criminal persons and circles and is against such circles.” Expressing that the Kurdish people and the Swedish people have an old and developing friendship, the PKK emphasized that “the conscientious Swedish people and the public know and see for what purpose these baseless statements and accusations were made.”
The statement published by the PKK Foreign Relations Committee on the subject is as follows:
“Recently, some Swedish officials have been trying to criminalize the Kurdistan Freedom Movement by making some groundless, unfounded and untrue accusations against our party and movement.
We must state at the outset that the PKK is a political party that works for the liberation of Kurdistan and the freedom of the Kurdish people, paying a great price in this regard. Our party is a movement committed to humanitarian, moral, conscientious and democratic values. Our party has made and is doing politics with these values for 45 years since its establishment (1978). Our party has no relations with criminal persons and circles and is against such circles.
Although this is the truth, the Turkish state and the circles that cooperate with it do not hesitate to resort to all kinds of lies, deception and slander to criminalize our party. Ambassador Oscar Stenström, the head of the delegation that recently negotiated with Turkey on behalf of Sweden, joined this caravan of unfounded accusations. In an interview with Swedish Radio, Mr. Stenström says that some criminals in Sweden, who are involved in crimes such as extortion, weapons and drugs, finance our party and gives it a name as “Kurdish Fox”.
Mr. Stenström’s statement is far from the truth, there is no such thing, and it is an accusation he made up to please his Turkish interlocutors with whom he met. The explanation also contains inconsistencies within itself. We do not know who the “Kurdish Fox” is, we do not know, we do not have a relationship. In Turkey, even a word in favor of the PKK is criminal and punishable by prison. There are many people who came from Turkey and took refuge in the Swedish authorities, accused of saying something in favor of the PKK or giving food to a PKK member. According to Mr. Stenström’s claim, the “Kurdish Fox” is wanted in Sweden for his crimes and helped the PKK in Sweden. Despite this, he escaped to Turkey and is roaming free in Turkey. Any way you look at it, it’s a very inconsistent statement.
Such statements are not limited to Mr. Stenström. Recently, within the framework of NATO membership negotiations, some government officials, such as Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, have made similar statements to please the Turkish government and Erdogan. We totally deny these accusations. The Swedish government can improve its relations with Turkey, no one is saying that. But we say, do not negotiate over us, over the Kurds, and do not support the bloody Erdogan who commits war and crimes against humanity in our country.
The Kurdish people and the Swedish people have an old and developing friendship. We find this friendship valuable, we care about it, and we want it to develop further. The conscientious Swedish people and the public know and see for what purpose these baseless statements and accusations were made. No matter what anyone says, we will protect the humane, moral, conscientious and democratic values, we will walk on the path we think is right, we will save our country from occupation and liberate our people.”
