LONDON – Yesterday in London, youth from TCS and TekoJIN organized a film night to collect money for Heyva Sor and made education by watching the film “Kobane”. The event began with a young Kurdish women from TekoJIN talking about the recent earthquakes that has taken place in Northern Kurdistan and Syria. The youth from TCS and Tekojin also collected an entry fee that will all be donated to Heyva Sor to help the people who have suffered from the recent earthquake in Kurdistan. Talking about the event a young person present said:
“The film began with Zehra Hebun being outnumber by the terrorist group “Islamic State”. Kurdish and internationalist youth together watched how she organised her comrades and built their spirit to fight against ISIS even when they were outnumbered. This was a clear example for everyone: how strong and hard women fought against the terrorist group ISIS and how the YPJ played a really important role in defending Kobane and Rojava.
The movie continued with the Great commander of the YPG, Gelhat Gabar who was martyred at the end of the resistance in kobane. Gelhat Gabar played a very important role in defending Kobane and also giving the morale to his comrades. Gelhat Gabar was a great commander and he really touched our hearts when he sang the song “Lêxin Birano” to his comrades before going to battle against ISIS.
We also saw in the film of Kobane how the Turkish State was arming ISIS against the YPG and YPJ freedom fighters. Even though the Turkish State armed and trained the terrorist group ISIS it was not enough to bring down the Kobane Resistance.”
At the end of the event youth and internationalist youth shouted slogans “Bijî Berxwedana YPG U YPJ” “Bijî Berxwedana Kobane” and “Şehîd Namirin!” All youth continued to make education and speak about the film’s messages: the education focused on willpower, love for community, the role of self-defense and resistance.
