MARSEILLE – Early in the morning, police conducted raids in the city of Marseille in southern France. The occasion was the protests after the murder of KCK Executive Council member Evîn Goyî, Mîr Perwer and Abdurrahman Kızıl, who were murdered on December 23, 2022 in the French capital Paris. The police searched the homes of many Welatparêz Kurds and arrested them on the grounds that they had taken part in the protests.

MANY ARRESTS

The lawyers from the Marseille Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DKTM) explained that there had been many arrests and that the police had not yet given them any clear information on the matter. The lawyers said information about the number of arrests would be released later in the day and that Welatparêz, whose homes were searched, should contact the DKTM.

HOUSES WERE VARIED, VIOLENCE WAS USED

According to the information we received from the relatives of the arrested Welatparêz, during the arrest the police entered the house with dirty shoes and the Welatparêz were subjected to police violence because of their protest. DKTM management said it would issue a full press statement on the incident in the next few hours.
