GENEVA – More than 150 internationalist activists from every continent of the world, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Britain, will begin a long march for the freedom of leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 6 in Geneva, Switzerland. Nora Merino, a member of the Jineolojî Center and a member of the Organizing Committee of the Long Internationalist March, informed our news agency about the march and explained that the Internationalist March, which is being held for the seventh time this year, will be held in Switzerland and that she is celebrating both the 100th and the anniversary of the division of Kurdistan into four parts as well as the physical freedom of Chairman Abdullah Öcalan.
We want to unite our voice with the voice of Kurdish society
Nora Merino pointed out that this year the march will be organized for the seventh time and explained that she wants to be a voice for the Kurdish society’s fight for Rêber APO: “For seven years we as internationalists have been organizing long marches. We want to recognize Kurdistan’s struggle for freedom and the struggle of Kurdish society and bring it closer to the masses. At the same time we want to bring together the voices of people from different nations with the voice of Kurdish society. Rêber APO is in agonizing isolation. We want to secure his freedom with this fight.”
Öcalan is the leader of all oppressed societies
She pointed out that the leader Abdullah Öcalan is not only the leader of the Kurds and Middle Eastern societies, but also the leader of all the oppressed with the paradigm he set up with the slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî”. , he is the leader of all the oppressed. The philosophy of “ Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” guides today the resistance in Rojava, Iran and Rojhilat, the guerrilla resistance in the mountains and in the prisons. We want to organize around the ideas of Mr. Öcalan, the founder of this philosophy, especially as women, youth and societies. At the same time, we want to reflect the color of the internationalists in the ongoing struggle.”
Kurdistan was divided into 4 parts in Lausanne
Merino stressed the importance of the march in Europe and explained that this year they will be marching in Switzerland as it marks the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which led to the division of Kurdistan into four parts.“Because these states have participated in the international conspiracy against Rêber APO. These states also have a share in the division of Kurdistan into four parts. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which divided Kurdistan into four parts. In this respect, it is all the more significant that this year’s march is taking place in Switzerland. We do not accept the division of Kurdistan and this treaty is null and void in our eyes. We protest both against the tightened isolation of Rêber Öcalan and against the Treaty of Lausanne, which dissolved Kurdistan.”
We want Öcalan’s physical freedom
Pointing out that 2023 is also an election year in Turkey, Merino stressed that it is time to ensure Öcalan’s physical freedom by intensifying the struggle. “We must ensure Rêber APO’s physical freedom by stepping up the fight. We must spread his paradigm of democratic confederalism and the science of Jineolojî around the world, and young people, women and societies everywhere must embrace this ideology.”
All the colors of the world together
Merino informed about the Long March program and explained that more than 150 internationalist activists from different parts of the world, from Europe to Latin America, from Australia to Africa, will take part in this march. Merino said: “Around 150 to 160 friends from Germany, France, Italy, Latin America, England, Eastern Europe, Africa and Australia will take part in this march.”
February 5 Conference in Geneva
Melino explained that they will start the Long March on February 6th and organize a conference for Rêber APO in Geneva on February 5th. Merino said: “As internationalists, we are organizing a conference in Geneva on February 5th. The reality of Rêber APO is also the reality of Kurdistan.
In this conference we will discuss Rêber APO’s paradigm, his Hevaltî with women and the isolation system in İmralı with the participation of his lawyers. At the same time, the “Platform Against Isolation” lawyers who have traveled to Turkey in the past few days will share their observations. We will also discuss the place of Kurdistan’s freedom struggle in the world and political developments in the world. The groups participating in the demonstration will provide information about the struggles in their countries. The conference ends with the screening of the film Kobanê. There will be separate programs during the march. Also here the latest developments related to Rojava will be discussed.”
