BERLIN – Representing the universities of Rojava and Kobanê in North-East Syria, the delegation, which came to Germany upon the invitation of EmdenLeer University, held meetings at the universities of EmdenLeer, Alice Salomon and Bremen.

Speaking to ANF about their contacts, Dijle Haidar, a lecturer in the Department of Jineology at Kobanê University, said that they first met at Alice Salamon University in Berlin. Dijle Haidar shared: “There were two important issues in this meeting. In general, the focus was on the promotion of jineolojî and its operation in North-East Syria. The second step was the promotion of universities in North-East Syria. In the upcoming period, we wanted to establish a sister university relationship with this university. Some special studies of Rojava and Kobanê universities were discussed and evaluated. The respondent party received it positively. They expressed their satisfaction. We were asked about our universities, their capacities and curricula. It was also focused on how a relationship could be established.”

Noting that their second meeting was with the University of Bremen, Dijle Haidar reminded that there were already some joint seminars with the students of Bremen and Rojava universities. Dijle Haidar, who stated that they focused on both gyneology and North-East Syrian universities, said that they also shared the difficulties they encountered. Dijle Haidar stated that they left here on a positive note and that they believed that official relations would be established in the future, and that they also gave a seminar at the women’s institution that established Hevrîn Xelef garden and has relations with Jinwar village.

VISIT AS POSSIBLE AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT

Stating that jineology opened a new field of discussion in the European academic environment, Dijle Haidar emphasized that there is a positive curiosity. Dijle Haidar said that they renewed the cooperation between universities and that they want to do this with other universities, and said: “There is a brotherhood in the field of gyneology studies between Emden University in Germany and Rojava University. Our coming here is to renew this fraternity agreement. There are joint seminars of the students of the two universities. It was a joint project. As long as we are here, we want to visit all universities as much as possible. We want to achieve some actual things. We will renew our sister university agreement with Emden University. We want to develop this experience with other universities as well. We act on this hope.”
