NEWS CENTER – 24 years go on 15 February 1999 the People’s leader Abdullah Ocalan (Rêber APO) kidnapped in Kenya by Turkish special agents which CIA and Mossad were behind the mission and they send Ocalan back to Turkey without fair trial for long imprisonment. The kidnap of Leader Ocalan is regarded as the outcome of an international conspiracy that involving the security services of several nations including the CIA, MI5, Gladio and Mossad. Such a conspiracy still continue against the Kurdish nation as Turkey committing war crime and genocide against Kurds but most of the Western world try to cover up for Turkey by concealing evidence and even reflection hypocritical news about the reality of situation. Other than that there is a conspiracy of silence about the military and police brutality in Turkey against Kurdish civilians.
Rêber APO is being held in solitary confinement in hazardous conditions on Imrali Island off the coast of Bursa. His health condition was said to be deteriorating because of the harsh environment of the prison. But despite all his personal difficulties, he has continued to play a central role in Turkey’s politics and exerts an influence among the Kurdish movement that cannot be ignored. Indeed Ocalan is regarded by millions of Kurdish as their political representative and by the development of the Revolution, internationalists also see themselves represented in his ideas and posture.
Casa di Popolo – “As comrades da “Casa di Popolo Heval” de Livorno e de “Potere al Popolo” we want to stand in solidarity with Abdullah Ocalan that is now locked in the prison island of Imrali in Turkey. Ocalan 24 years ago was kidnapped and locked in this prison for leading the PKK, the workers party that is the principal strenght of the the liberation movement. For all of his life, Ocalan has always fought and still fight with all of its means for the self-determination of the Kurdish people that is oppressed and diveded in 4 states and especially in Turkey they live oppressed by other ethnicities and by the turkish state.
Ocalan is closely linked to the history of our country because 24 years ago when he was fleeing Syria and was looking for a place to apply for asylum after a short stay in Russia, he stopped in Italy jn Italy at the time 1998 there was the D’Alema government a centre-left government which theoretically should have granted him the right of asylum also because our constitution provides for it since he was a political refugee. Instead of respecting the constitution and international law, the D’Alema government decided to give in to pressure from Turkey, a very influential member of NATO, and it opposed Ocalan’s request for asylum.
This request ended up in court and the right of asylum was granted in October 1999, a pity that Ocalan, due to pressure from the Italian government, was forced to flee before the sentence and during the escape while he was on the way between the airport of Nairobi and the city was kidnapped illegally by the Turkish secret services and transported to Imrali Jail where he still is we are ashamed as Italians of the unworthy behavior of the D’Alema government as Italians we still fight today so that abdullah ocalan can regain his freedom and can go back to living as a free man.
From all the comeades of the “house of people Heval” and “potere al popolo” of Livorno we stand in solidarity with comrade Abdullah Apo Ocalan.”
Italian Internationalist – “On February 15, 1999, the founder of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party Abdullah Ocalan was kidnapped in Nairobi by the Turkish secret services. A few weeks before he had applied for political asylum in Italy, a request that was rejected by the D’Alema government which thus violated the articles 10 and 26 of the Italian constitution that forbid the passive extradition.
Italy is therefore among those countries responsible for this unjust capture. Abdullah Ocalan is still locked up in a maximum security prison and like every year in many parts of the world we will rise up to ask for the immediate release.”
Revolutionary Offensive, Brazil – “Abdullah Ocalan’s childhood was marked by growing up in the midst of the misery and violence of a genocidal state. Over time he grew and became politically aware, becoming a symbol of organization and resistance of his people.
This could be the story of several leaders in Brazil or Latin America, but it is the story of the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, Abdulla, who was kidnapped, tortured and kept in prison since 1999 by the Turkish State.
For us at the Revolutionary Offensive, the international struggle for the freedom of Ocalan in Turkey is the same as the struggle for the freedom of Carmen Villalba of the EPP in Paraguay, for the freedom of the ELN fighters in Colombia, the Mapuches in Chile, the Zapatistas in Mexico and all all combatants imprisoned in the world and in Brazil.
Solidarity must go beyond words, if it is necessary to outline unifying actions to put pressure on the States that imprison our fighting brothers and sisters.
Brazil and Turkey have trade relations that reached 4.4 billion reais in 2021, with a clear intention to expand it. It is in these economic relations that the point of pressure lies that must be used by political organizations, not only against Turkey, but against other countries that imprison those who rebel against the barbarities of the State and Capital.
Our solidarity with Abdullah Ocalan and all combatants imprisoned by state repression. Freedom for Ocalan and long live Rojava!”
Antifascist Students from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – “I am part of the Antifascist Student Collective of Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. I’m here to talk about the importance of Ocalan’s freedom from prison as an internationalist. It is important to emphasize that his freedom makes us centralize the ideals of struggle and gives us hope to fight against this fascist and imperialist regime in Turkey.
I would like to point out that it was he who idealized and propagated Democratic Confederalism, which today is lived in practice and proves to be very effective. Which gloriously resists the fascist actions of Daesh. It was he who led the PKK, Kurdistan Workers’ Party, the party which put into practice female leadership in the Revolution, ecology and anti-fascism to fight for the independence of a country with the principles of Democratic Confederalism. With its own culture, with its own language and its people.
We must support the Freedom of Ocalan.”
German Internationalist – “I am running the Long Internationalist March for Freedom by Abdullah Öcalan this week because I believe he embodies all the values in his philosophy that I stand for. Solidarity, justice, a free community life. Very very human values and he has been in solitary confinement for 24 years now and in extremely inhumane conditions. We demand absolute freedom of his person, because for me that also means that we can live the values and we already do that, but Abdullah Öcalan must also be allowed to be free in a world of which we say we are democratic.”
