MELETÎ – The balance sheet of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that took place in Mereş Bazarcıx around 04:00 on January 6 (yesterday) is getting heavier. Meletî, Amed, Semsûr, Dilok and Hatay are the cities affected by the earthquake in the first degree. While state-affiliated institutions and organizations do not provide the necessary assistance to the people under the rubble, they prevent or reject the aid mobilized by the people with their own means.
HDP Youth Assemblies called on all young people and the public to go to the rubble areas and provide the necessary assistance and solidarity to the public. Istanbul HDP Youth Assembly and Batman HDP Youth Assembly went to Meletî to show solidarity with the people.It was stated that while the people were trying to save those under the rubble with their own means, AFAD stated that they could not go there for two people, and that they would not search in places where there was no sound.
People are looking for bread from the garbage
Again, according to the information conveyed, hundreds of people, who were hungry and thirsty, queued for bread during the day and it is stated that many people tried to take bread out of the garbage because they could not meet their bread needs. Institutions that provide food aid for the people affected by the earthquake are prevented from sending the supplies.
Saadet Apartment, where 50 people are located, has not been intervened yet.
It is stated that 50 people are under the rubble in the Saadet Apartment in Malatya, which was completely destroyed. The public is also prevented from going to the apartment, where no search and rescue work has yet been carried out. The people under the rubble have been trying to survive for 2 days. There is no information about their fate.
