BEHDÎNAN – The co-chair of the Executive Council of the KCK, Besê Hozat, took part in a special broadcast on TV channel Medya Haber. In the second part of the translation, Besê Hozat addressed the forthcoming elections in Turkey and highlighted the current political situation.
Besê Hozat explained:
THE LONGER THE PROCESS TAKES ON, THE WEAKER THE GOVERNMENT BECOMES
“Normally, an election would have taken place in mid-June. They’ve moved them forward a bit now. Of course they have plans on this topic. So you have many plans. The fascist AKP-MHP government is losing more and more votes and is melting away. The MHP is truly in a state of collapse and it’s getting deeper and deeper. As time goes by, the later the election, the deeper the slump and the weaker they become. That’s a basic thing. They want to do that a little earlier, to get into this electoral process before they wear out more, before they melt more, before the votes turn against them more. That’s the main reason.
On the other hand, there is a severe economic crisis. It is a very structural crisis. It is not just a periodic crisis. It is a structural crisis, a really serious crisis. The whole society in Turkey is in great anger. Hunger, not to say poverty, is the order of the day. A great deal of anger has built up in society. This economic crisis has consequences. All this creates situations against the fascist AKP-MHP government. The longer the process lasts, the deeper the economic crisis will become. Poverty, hunger, the reaction in society is getting stronger. That also has a very important bearing on the fact that they pushed her a bit. They committed a great genocide against us, the Kurds. That didn’t bring any results either. As I mentioned before, they got stuck in Zap. Her concept could not come to a conclusion. There, too, they suffered a severe blow.
ACP-MHP WILL NOT BENEFIT FROM EARLY ELECTIONS
They were somehow trying to achieve results through war politics. Again, no results were obtained. During this period they will further develop their war policy based on the deepening of the war. In this process they will try to get something for themselves. There are also those who make various claims. In other words, they say it is the month of Ramadan and they will take advantage of it. May 14 refers to the period when Turkey transitioned from a one-party system to a multi-party system, 1950 was the transition to a multi-party system. That’s what they say. They will, which means they will use it. And there are other similar factors. You are not very important. The crux of the matter is as follows. The fascist AKP-MHP government is experiencing a very serious weakening. They are in dissolution, in collapse. With war policy, genocidal policy, fascism, all kinds of oppression and violence, they could not capture society and break its will. Kurdish society and Turkish society as a whole are in the midst of a great struggle and reaction.
Before this situation gets any worse, they want to use the situation to their advantage by moving the time forward a bit. That too is useless. Even that won’t do them much good.
And during this process – as our friends have also noticed in some programs in Kurdistan – the special psychological warfare has deepened a lot. They have done everything to break the will of Kurdish society. They have developed many things towards the decline of society and broken the moral values of society. Now they are conducting very serious espionage activity in Kurdistan. Prostitution, drugs, rape. This incident in Van is a serious attack against the women’s movement in Kurdistan, against all women’s movements, against women. It’s misogyny, hostility to society. There is an increasing struggle of women. Kurdish women’s struggle for freedom has an impact on women in Turkey, on society in Turkey and on the world. In this sense, women’s support for the AKP has sharply declined with women’s struggle. The interest of women is declining. The AKP has prevailed with the struggle of women, with the support of women, to this day. Now there is a serious breakdown in this regard. In order to break the will of the Kurdish women’s freedom movement, to break the will of the fighting women, the organized women’s struggle and to take it over, the AKP has intensified such attacks in Kurdistan, especially against Kurdish women. Such attacks on Kurdish women are already part of the genocide. These are carried out in a very planned and systematic manner as part of the genocide policy. We look at all sectors in Kurdistan, from the officials to the police, the gendarmerie, the founders, as special war elements. They are applying the policy of genocide in a very ugly and dirty way and these attacks are already developing as a part of it, they are developing against children and women in Kurdistan. You can’t get any results from it anyway. The women’s struggle continues. The attitude of women is still strong. It’s the same in Turkey. There is a strong women’s movement, but it is struggling. These special war-political measures did not achieve much. What is the politics of social destruction doing against women and this society now? They organize Hezbollah counters in Kurdistan. They organized Osman Ocakları in Kurdistan. This rogue Soylu started a movement called the National Beka Movement. By putting these scoundrels, traitors and collaborators into these groups and organizing gangs, he uses them for his genocidal policy against Kurdish society. The rotting and degeneration of society, various murders and massacres in Kurdistan, attacks on HDP buildings – all this was carried out by these groups. Based on that, they use these groups. On the one hand, they have intensified the special war with thousands of tools to subvert society, subdue it and break its will by committing such physical genocides. As a result, they still could not get any results. What are you doing now? You don’t get any results. They gradually dissolve lose more and more power, lose blood, lose life. Now the MHP, the junior partner of the People’s Alliance, is – as they always say – a racist fascist counter-party. In fact, one cannot even speak of a party. It’s not even a party; she is the political face of the deep state. Now it has also liquidated the opposition within itself. The murder of Sinan Ateş is such a case. Those who criticize Devlet Bahçeli and the policies of the MHP, who raise a different voice, will be liquidated. This was also done in this way. He probably belongs to the opposition groups within the MHP. In the last period he wanted to join the IYI party… the junior partner of the People’s Alliance – as they always say – a racist fascist counter-party. In fact, one cannot even speak of a party. It’s not even a party; she is the political face of the deep state. Now it has also liquidated the opposition within itself.
THE AKP AND MHP DISSOLVE
Now, for example, there is a serious split within MHP. It was talked about yesterday; it is said that 16 thousand MHP members have defected. This number is gradually increasing. And that is why this racist-fascist alliance of the AKP, the MHP, is gradually dissolving, it is dissolving and the AKP is dissolving. In any case, there are no longer any Kurds in the AKP.
Apart from the sworn traitors, there is actually no one left in the AKP. Some of them switched to the HDP, some to other parties. It’s a serious matter and it’s already clear how this election will end. No matter what they do, this fascist genocidal power, the AKP and MHP government, cannot achieve results in this election, cannot succeed. That is already very clear.
The attitude of Kurdish society is clear. They have already pursued a policy of genocide against the Kurds. The attitude of the Kurds is very clear. The attitude of Turkish society is also clear. There is a serious reaction in Turkish society. In other words, they really destroyed the centuries-old Kemalist state, with all its institutions. Now they want to set up a system based on a religious, racist, nationalist and fascist dictatorship and they want to legitimize and institutionalize that through elections. In these 20 years, especially in the 7 years that the AKP actively cooperates with the MHP, the situation is obvious. The reaction of the Kemalists, secularists, liberals, Democrats and conservatives is very serious. The anger and reaction in Turkish society is high and if the opposition capitalizes on this well, they will definitely win this election. No matter what games the fascist AKP and MHP government plays, what tricks they use, what attacks they develop, if they take a strong position, if they take a common and strong position, the opposition will definitely win this election.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO MEET AT THE POINT OF OVERTURNING THE FASCIST DICTATORSHIP
The six-party table has not developed a program to solve the Kurdish question. In other words, you have not proposed any policy. The Kurds have also expressed serious concerns and criticism on this issue. The HDP has also made demands and criticized and continues to do so. This criticism is getting louder and louder. It is not realistic to expect a political solution program for the democratic solution of the Kurdish question from the table of six with such a composition in such a process, their mentality is obvious. They have not gotten beyond the classic state mentality. They have not overcome the politics of the deniers’ annihilation mentality. That can be said of each of the parties gathered at this table of six. But they come out with a claim like this: We will restore the rule of law in Turkey. We will reform them. This state will function according to the law. The judiciary, executive and legislature will work according to their mandate. The judiciary will be independent. They will function under the law. There will be no political tutelage over the judiciary. There will be a parliamentary system, reinforced by the army. We will overcome this fascist dictatorship. We will restore and develop a rule of law. You make that claim. Such a demand is of great importance for society in Turkey. Considering the current situation of society in Turkey, this fascist government, the AKP and MHP government, leave nothing in the name of the law. Turkey is a land of lawlessness. In Turkey there was a law. But this law never applied to Kurds, for example. In other words: This law did not contain any provisions for the Kurds. That’s a fact. Turkish law is not such a democratic law.
They speak to society, they influence society to a certain extent. You made a claim. Of course it is an electoral process. It is important to meet at this point; the common denominator of the alliance for work and freedom and this six-table alliance is overcoming and destroying the fascist dictatorship, this fascist regime. That’s the only common denominator. Otherwise there is still no common denominator on democracy, on the Kurdish solution, on the solution of the Kurdish problem, on the democratization of Turkey. That’s a fact. In other words, if this six-party table claims to democratize Turkey, if it claims to have a democratic Turkey, then the way there is the democratic solution of the Kurdish question. How do you want to democratize Turkey without solving the Kurdish question on a democratic basis? This is not possible. As long as the politics of denial, extermination and genocide continue, there can be no democracy in Turkey. Turkey cannot democratize itself. Turkey will gradually move towards fascism again. Fascist rulers and fascist governments will not save Turkey. That’s a fact. The overthrow of this fascist government will mean the democratic solution of the Kurdish question, the democratization of Turkey, the democratization of Turkey, put state-building based on democratic law on the serious agenda and a very serious agenda for discussion will be opened. There will be a different dynamic. The tendency towards democracy will create more space for organizing, working, fighting and politics in Turkey. That is of course also important. In this sense, a joint struggle on this issue is also extremely valuable when the Alliance for Work and Freedom and the Alliance of the Six Table come together and agree to overthrow this fascist dictatorship and regime.
IF YOU WANT THE SUPPORT OF THE ALLIANCE YOU WILL BASE YOUR POLICY ON THAT
But from the point of view of the table of six – the Workers’ Freedom Alliance and the HDP have also commented on this – if there is no suitable candidate who is not based on the democratization of Turkey, who does not seek a democratic solution to the Kurdish question based on something that is acceptable to the Kurds and the forces of democracy in this sense, then they will propose a candidate and go to the elections with their own candidate. In this sense, they have also expressed that they are open to negotiations. This is also a very important approach to evaluating the six table. In other words, you must recognize this situation and act accordingly. If you want to get a serious result in this election, if you really want to overthrow this fascist government, it can only be done with a common synergy. Without the support of the HDP, without the support of the Alliance for Work and Freedom, it is not possible for the table of six to win this election. That’s a fact. The HDP and the Alliance for Work and Freedom play a key role in the current situation. The esteemed Mithat Sancar also said the same thing the other day. He said it wasn’t a suspension but it was key. With this key we can open and close all doors. It really matters. If they want to gain the support of the HDP and the Alliance for Work and Freedom, they must choose a democratic stance and an approach that is in tune with them. The candidate must be selected according to these criteria. This is important. Otherwise, the Workers’ Freedom Alliance, which has already set its road map, operates its policies on this basis. They also operate an effective policy. They really set Turkey’s agenda. Their attitude is extremely consistent, principled and reassuring to society. There is serious interest and support from society.
SOCIETY RISES UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF WOMEN
For months there has been an uninterrupted resistance led by women. This has really brought about a great social shift and change. And here we saw the power of women. Yes, women are a great transformative force. They really change and transform society. They change and transform the mentality, the culture, the understanding and the system. We will see the effects in the next period. The Iranian state will not stay like this. There will definitely be major changes in Iran. In other words: This social change will have a very strong impact on politics. We will see the effects much more clearly in the future. In this sense, we have also seen this in Iran and Rojhilat. The struggle of the good women has truly taken on a regional and universal character. In other words, you change the world. The 21st century, according to the Chair, “will be the century of women”. The 21st century was and is indeed the century of women. In other words, the women put their stamp on him. Now, under the leadership of women, societies are rising up, peoples are rising up, humanity is rising up under the leadership of women. (…) This is very important. In other words, society has risen again. She gained in spirit, in life. Now the calls for freedom, equality, justice and democracy are getting louder everywhere and women are leading the way. Women will really change the world. Women will set the world free. Women will democratize the world. Above all, women will ensure the revolution in the region. Women will be the pioneers, designers, builders and creators of the democratic revolution in the Middle East. We have been experiencing this very concretely in Kurdistan for decades. The freedom struggle of the Kurdish women in Kurdistan has strongly influenced and mobilized the women of the region. This had an impact on society in the region. Today, very serious serhildans in Arab states and countries are the result of this enlightenment. Women’s struggle played the role of a renaissance in the Middle East. It has brought about serious enlightenment, awareness, will, willpower, organization, resistance and struggle in women and societies. In society as a whole… One center, where this is currently intensifying are Iran and Rohilat. This will of course lead to serious changes. The state there could not digest that so easily. So they are increasing the pressure, increasing the violence, increasing the executions, trying to create great fear in society through the execution policy, trying to break the will of society, trying to break the will of women, trying to take.
EXECUTIONS WILL NOT ACHIEVE RESULTS
That is the main purpose of this policy. But we see. This policy, this policy of violence, this policy of repression will bring no results. This regime will not achieve any result with executions. It’s not in the regime’s favour, either. So it will bring the regime to an impasse. If they do, it will break them down more. In this regard, this policy should be abandoned. Indeed, this execution policy is one of the most brutal practices in the world. This is a very brutal practice. It’s a very brutal attack. It’s terrible. These are crimes against humanity. You must end this. This is the 21st century. Everywhere people are on their feet. The women are on their feet. They want freedom, justice and equality. Nobody can prevent that anymore. No one, no state power can prevent that. No ruling power, no hegemonic power can prevent that. These status quo forces in the region can no longer prevent this. Neither Iran nor Turkey can prevent that. Neither can other states. They flow like a tide. You can’t block them off with a dam, no matter how much they want to. You can’t hold this dam. These dams will be overcome. There is a very serious consciousness. There is criticism and organization. The world today is global, which means it has become a small village. A development in one place affects the others, triggers something in the others. They give each other strength, reinforce each other, create synergies. So this cannot be prevented. What is the right thing? It’s about, to change this policy. This is to put an end to the executions. The abolition of these execution laws. The point is to really put an end to this execution policy. They should take democratization as a basis. Iran can only free itself from this impasse through democratization. If Iran democratizes itself, if it recognizes and grants the rights of women, youth, Kurds, Baloch, Arabs, Persians, in other words, if they have the rights of all identities and different identities who live in Iran, and if they develop a democratic understanding of governance and politics, then Iran really becomes a role model for the region.
THE SELF-GOVERNANCE OF THE EZIDIANS SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED
It is important that Germany recognizes the genocide, the genocide of the Ezidis. Previously, 12 countries had recognized the genocide as such. Such hypocrisy prevails in European countries. On the one hand they recognize the genocide of the Ezidis, they accept and recognize the attack on Shengal as a genocidal attack, as genocide, but they do nothing. If a country recognizes it as genocide, then in order to prevent that genocide, to prevent the repetition of those genocidal edicts, that society usually has to recognize its own will, its self-government as well. She should acknowledge her self-defense. Because these decrees, these genocides can be prevented with it. If the Ezidis and in Shengal do not have self-government, if they do not have self-defense forces, they could face another decree, decrees and genocide in the future. In other words, genocides can resurface. Germany and the other 12 countries that recognize this genocide should also recognize Shengal’s self-government. You should recognize the right to self-defense. This is the only way to eliminate this hypocritical policy. Another form is really very important. But if that doesn’t translate into practice, if that doesn’t translate into recognition of self-government, then not much happens in practice. That’s important, I want to emphasize that. Experience edicts and genocide. In other words, genocides can resurface. Germany and the other 12 countries that recognize this genocide should also recognize Shengal’s self-government. That’s important, I want to emphasize that.
Germany has also been pursuing a policy towards Ezidis for decades. You are pursuing a very special policy on this issue. Germany has been doing this for years. They do serious missionary work. There is also an established policy for the Ezidis. They are trying to conduct politics under their own leadership.
IT IS NECESSARY THAT EVERYONE ACCEPT THE SELF-GOVERNMENT OF SENGAL
This is important for Shengal, for the Ezidis. As long as we fight, we get results. In other words, these things did not develop spontaneously. The Ezidis, the society of Shengal, have been fighting a very serious fight to have this recognized as genocide. They waged a serious political, diplomatic and social struggle. As a result of this struggle, these definitions have emerged. This gave the Ezidis a lot of strength and courage. You can continue to expand and strengthen this fight. You can get other states to recognize this genocide. In addition, they can also make them accept self-government. That’s the most important thing for them to accept. Shengal’s self-government must be accepted by everyone, by the whole world. In this regard, the Ezidis everywhere should wage a very active political, legal, diplomatic and social struggle. This fight must be waged vigorously. You must get everyone to accept genocide and at the same time to accept self-government. Thousands of Kurdish and Yezidi women are still in the hands of ISIS. The Edict of Shengal, the 74th Edict, was an edict developed directly by the Turkish state. The Turkish state developed this decree together with IS. This attack was not independent of the Turkish state. The Turkish state was involved in the IS attack on Shengal and was behind it. The kidnapped children were found in Ankara. All Ezidis who traveled to Turkey were scattered all over the world. Many Yezidi women and children are in the hands of IS. They recognize this genocide as genocide. The Turkish state is involved in this genocide. If you recognize it, then you recognize it against the Turkish state. You are dealing with the Turkish state. He participated in these genocidal attacks. Then you have to develop an attitude. The Turkish state was also involved in the attacks on Kobanê. They were also directly involved in the IS attacks against Rojava. We celebrated the anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê. I congratulate you. I greet you. The Turkish state has also participated in these genocidal attacks on Kobanê and ISIS attacks. Turkish generals directly coordinated these attacks. The Turkish state provided ISIS with all kinds of logistical support. The Turkish state provided the ammunition. Now it makes sense to show such an attitude. But it also has to be something practical. It must also lead to the recognition of self-government. That would make sense.
THEY WANT TO INCLUDE SWEDEN AND FINLAND IN THEIR KURDISH POLICIES
Sweden and Finland have lifted the arms embargo on Turkey. Turkey slaughters Kurds every day with the weapons they bought from Sweden, Finland and other European countries. They commit genocide. With this attitude, they are also partners in Turkey’s policy of genocide against the Kurds. They turn a blind eye to the murder and massacres of the Kurds. And all this is happening with the weapons made available to Sweden, Finland, Germany and other European countries. I condemn these attitudes because the Turkish state is hostile to Kurds everywhere. The Turkish state wants the whole world to be hostile to the Kurds. They try to lure everyone to this policy, to get them on that line. That’s what they impose on Sweden, that’s what they impose on Finland. They have turned their NATO membership into a very serious form of blackmail. They impose a great fascism on everyone. Also, they blackmail with gangs every day. Before that there were explosions in many places in Europe. They murder our friends and attack them with the help of gangs. So they use that kind of thing on everyone. In other words, like a tyrant, they export this fascism everywhere, they export violence everywhere. They export terror, their own state terror, everywhere and try to get everyone to follow their politics. That’s what they now dictate to Sweden and Finland. They mean to say that they will be anti-Kurdish like them. Don’t let the Kurds breathe there, prevent them from demonstrating, hinder their participation, prevent everything possible. In other words: it is open, concrete and clear. They say that they will openly and actively support their policy of genocide against the Kurds and are an enemy of the Kurds. That’s what they tell you to do. With the lifting of the embargo, that will be rendered a service, so to speak.
SOCIETY REACTS TO CONCESSIONS
We criticize these attitudes very seriously. Now a certain point has been reached. The government that came to power in Sweden made many concessions to Turkey. They extradited a Welatparêz and put pressure on Kurds and Kurdish organizations. They also made some promises and concessions. But then they realized that there are no limits to this. The Turkish state knows no borders, it wants as much as it wants. He tries to make them all like himself. It says, “Act like me”. Leave your own law aside, it is then said. Apply the law that comes out of the mouth of Erdoğan.
Sweden also has its own law, its own legislation and its own understanding of democracy. I am talking about the states in Europe that are known as constitutional states, as democratic states and recognized by the world. It is a state known and recognized as such. Now they are beginning to trample on their own rights and laws. This causes serious uneasiness in Swedish society. Serious criticism is gradually being raised in Swedish society. The pressure on the government is growing. You are not comfortable with the situation. If there are elections in Sweden tomorrow, this government will lose and fall. That’s for sure. Everything points to it. If elections are held in Finland, the current Finnish government will fall. There is a serious reaction in Finnish society. Society criticizes and says: You capitulated to the policies of the dictator and fascist Erdoğan. We cannot accept that. It’s against our values, they say. They violate our values, they say. That’s disrespectful. There is a serious response to this question. Of course, they set a limit for this. They realized that if they did, they would lose their power, they themselves could not withstand the pressure of society, and the current Swedish administration, government and Finland have softened their stance. they say. They violate our values, they say. That’s disrespectful. There is a serious response to this question. Of course, they set a limit for this.
Elections will also be held in Turkey. The elections are just around the corner. There is a serious reaction in Turkish society. There is serious opposition to the current fascist government. An organized opposition force is also emerging. In Europe people are calculating: Where will relations with this fascist government in Turkey, with the dictatorial regime, lead? And this fascist power in Turkey is also harming Europe. It is a member of NATO. It does not implement the decisions taken by NATO. No rules are applied. She signed the International Convention on Human Rights and many other things that constitute universal law. She doesn’t implement any of them. The European Parliament makes a decision, they don’t implement it. The CPT says something, but they don’t implement it. They do not implement the decisions taken by the European Parliament. They have trampled on international law and do not feel responsible for anything. How far will that go? The European states are obviously also uncomfortable with this situation; Germany is also criticized. The UK press is increasingly critical and the issue is on the agenda. It’s like that in many places, in France, in the USA. There is serious pressure and response from society on these states and governments. On the other hand, there is also a reaction in Turkish society. They have trampled on international law and do not feel responsible for anything. How far will that go? The European states are obviously also uncomfortable with this situation; Germany is also criticized.
And they really don’t listen to these international organizations. I mean they are NATO members, they don’t listen to NATO. It is a member of the Council of Europe, but does not adhere to its resolutions. It’s part of the international system, the western system. It does not act according to its laws in any way. It operates a fascist, racist and religious policy based on its own interests in power.”
