GENEVA – The 7th Internationalist Long March for Freedom of the leader of oppressed societies worldwide Abdullah Öcalan starts tomorrow, Monday, February 6 in Geneva, Switzerland. Internationalist activists who will take part in the march have gathered in Geneva today. Before the Long March, a conference was organized in the Gandhi Conference Hall of the Maison Internationale (International House of Culture) in Geneva.
ABDULLAH ÖCALAN’S PARADIGM HAS CROSSED BOUNDARIES
The conference on “Abdullah Öcalan and the paradigm shift” was attended by the internationalist activists who will take part in the march and people from Kurdistan. KCDK-E-Co-Chairman Yüksel Koç delivered the opening speech of the conference and said:“Rêber APO and the paradigm he espouses have now crossed borders and become a trailblazer for oppressed societies around the world. 25 years ago the capitalist system wanted to liquidate Rêber APO and Kurdistan’s freedom struggle. But the struggle of Kurdish society and its friends thwarted the international conspiracy. When we now see more than 150 Kurdish friends from Africa, Latin America and many European countries in this hall, our hope grows even more. We welcome your resistance,” he said.
In the first part of the conference, moderated by Italian internationalist Uxia Birueiro, TJK-E activist Asmin Engin gave a lecture. Referring to Kurdish genocides in history, Engin explained the conditions for the emergence of the PKK and how it differed from other uprisings. Engin said: “When the PKK emerged, it emerged as an internationalist movement in the person of Haki Karer and Kemal Pir. Here, too, two friends were involved in the initial founding of the PKK. This formed the basis for the emergence of the women’s liberation paradigm”.
In the section of the conference titled “International Conspiracy and İmralı System” , Attorney Mahmut Şakar and members of the International Platform Against Isolation, Attorney Raphael Roux and Coroline İsabella Aubry spoke about the current situation in Imrali and the historical background.
