NEWS CENTER – The attacks of the invasion became more intense every day. At the same time, our resistance has developed. Everyone was excited for the new friend to come. Everyone tried to guess who was coming. Heval Xebatkar was the one who came. His arrival caused a great stir. It was a few days before March 8th. His arrival caused great joy and enthusiasm among all those involved. How beautiful he had become. He received a very warm welcome. In return, he had spread all his beauty in Nisêbin. Both the excitement and the preparations for March 8 ensured high morale among the resistance fighters. Male and female Hevals began preparations for March 8th from all sides.
It was March 8th. People gathered. Friends from Koçera, Şehîd Gelhat and Elika also came. Everything was in order. The excitement was great, but this time it was different. The ceremony ended with slogans. It was the mothers who continued the ceremony. The transition to halay (collective dances) was initiated. The halay grew with the great interest of the mothers. The fact that a mother came and danced in her costume was another nice touch. When this mother, whose daughter joined the guerrillas at a young age, saw the resistance fighters, she hugged and kissed them as if they were her own daughter. Some of the people who were most involved in the resistance of Nisêbîn were the mothers of the resistance. The attitude of the mothers was one of the most important factors in the growth of the resistance. After the halay, the last songs were sung, slogans chanted and the mood was over.
March 14 was the date of the last lockdown announcement. From now on, the occupiers would attack intensified and brutally. At twelve o’clock on the night of March 13, the curfew was declared. People were looking for the resistance fighters to see them one last time. They started saying goodbye. The mothers in particular could not hold back their tears. It was hard for many parents to see their children stay and go. The words “How can we leave you and go away” from their mouths showed the fire in their hearts. It was a point where there were no more words. The eyes and sobs reflected the emotions that were hidden, or rather could not be hidden.
An emergency meeting was convened at the direction of Heval Xebatkar, which began with the participation of the neighborhood authorities. Heval Kawa (Vakkas Tümen) had suggested moving to the Kanika district, but his suggestion was not accepted because he couldn’t control himself. However, at Heval Kawa’s suggestion, Heval Ferhat should be sent to Kanika. General planning was done and Heval Xebatkar gave the final perspectives. That ended the session.
All fronts took their stores and ammunition and went into positions by seven o’clock in the evening. The attack could have taken place before 12 noon. And there was no reason why this should not happen. In the midst of the hectic situation, Ferhat went to Kanika. When it was twelve o’clock, there was silence in Nisêbin. Time had stood still. All positions were silently guarded. Not knowing the enemy’s behavior in war is a disadvantage. Because it creates natural stress.
The first attack was launched from the Koçera Silk Road. Something was different this time. Mortars flew from all sides. The occupiers were stationed along the Silk Road from the Beçem side to the Weysêkê side. We had an underground position. The position we were in was perhaps the strongest. However, our disadvantages were that we did not know how the attackers would come and the empty areas in front of the position.
Binevş (Filiz Yağız) and Bakur’s friends, wanting to know what the enemy was doing, monitored the spot where the assassination took place. When the door of the Kobra standing in front of a one-story house opened and an attacker came out, Heval Binevş shot him with one shot. This happiness from Binevş also spread among her friends. Then the enemy began bombarding the area with all their tanks. Those positions we took against tanks were good, but inexperience showed from time to time. We thought about what we could do about technology. We expected the enemy to attack in this way, but our measures were insufficient. This situation put us under pressure.
Heval Bakurs and Dorşin split up the groups and went to the front. Although the first attack was without results, it was necessary to check whether there were still occupiers or not. On the first day we had to take some general precautions as we couldn’t see the style and the occupiers were also pressed for time. It was clear that they only had a certain amount of time to do this. During the day we more or less understood their style and their plan, but at night it was up to Heval Binevş to understand that. There was only one thermal imaging camera in the Koçera and Şehîd Gelhat districts. Heval Binevş had her because she was a sniper. She was on guard day and night. She hardly slept and hardly rested. She watched the occupiers day and night with binoculars.
Weysikê tried to carry out an attack against the occupiers. Bedran picked up his B7 rifle and started walking. A Kobra armored vehicle was also taken to the same street where the armored excavator was taken. After Heval Bedran met the occupiers here with the B7, they withdrew. Works on this street have been halted, at least for a while. Immediately afterwards, the mine detonated in the midst of about 15 special forces who got out of the hedgehog armored vehicle and had a shocking effect on the attackers. The attacks were answered with two successful actions.
The spot where Heval Serfiraz was was also in motion. They were already in an adjacent position with Heval Alişer. It was assumed that this position would not last long. Because it is a line with disadvantages due to the empty pitches. The occupiers launched an attack here. Heval Kawa watched them from the tall building. Once in position, the attackers received another shock when a mine exploded. After this action, the attackers did not retreat, but almost fled. Heval Kawa saw this and shouted into the radio, “Catch them, the enemy is running!” Heval Kawa later described this event as follows:“The enemy’s death toll was very high. But since the ignorant didn’t want to believe it, we lowered the number and made the call.”
On March 17, while the clashes continued, the Heval, who went to the spot where Heval Zerdeşt (Nesim Atabey), Baz and Şahan were, tried to fire a missile at the armored vehicle, which he succeeded twice. Then Heval Zerdeşt, Şahin and Heval Baz were wounded by the attackers’ fierce gunfire. Heval Zerdeşt was immediately taken to the back because his wound was serious. Zerdeşt, who was badly wounded, was treated but could not be saved. He was the first Şehîd we gave with the beginning of the last curfew. After the bullets in his gun detonated, his wound got worse. A suitable place was found and Zerdeşt was buried. A suitable home was found for the wounded Hevals and they were taken there.
In the place where Heval Serfiraz was located, there was a clash with the occupiers. After taking heavy blows and retreating, the attackers launched a heavy mortar attack on this position. As a result of the mortar attack, Heval Serfiraz and Argeş were wounded. The two Hevals were taken to the home of the injured. Rêber (Mehmet Temizer) and his friends, who were in the rear positions, took advantage of this situation and advanced to their positions without informing them. They ambushed the attackers in the forward positions and waited. He suffered martyrdom at the hands of snipers while watching the invaders. He was the first Şehîd on this front. This situation did not lead to the resistance fighters retreating.
After this martyrdom, Heval and Bagok (Abdullah Ak) intervened directly and tried to take revenge. A mine laid by Bagok was detonated against the attackers attempting to cross Nisan Strait. The mine, which detonated on the spot and successfully, had reached its target. Excited, Bagok shouted slogans and called on the Amed attackers to “surrender.” After this effective action, the resistance fighters could be heard shouting slogans from the other side. But while the joy of this effective action still lingered, the resistance fighters were shaken by the martyrdom of Heval Bagok, who was shot and suffered martyrdom at this very spot. The ordeal unfolding at that moment did not befit Heval Bagok. This had a serious impact on all resistance fighters. With his martyrdom he had avenged the martyrdom of Rêber. The two Hevals were buried side by side. Many of his hevals were unaware of his martyrdom because it was very difficult at first.
Seyitxan (Aso-Yekta Atlı) had come to Nisêbîn shortly before the curfew. The Hevals who knew him said he was a friend who should have come sooner and that everyone should know him. He was the epitome of sacrifice. With his Fedaî attitude he had won the hearts of all his hevals. He was a Fedaî. He used to work with Heval Kawa. Heval Kawa would protect him more than himself. Heval Kawa had already taken it upon himself to defend Heval Serdem and Heval Seyitxan in the war. While he was the commander of war and life, he also saw it as his duty to protect these two Hevals.
Along with the administration and structure, all the Hevals concentrated and strove to break the invasion attacks. However, a radical solution had not yet been found. The occupiers continued their attacks with mortars, howitzers, tanks, etc. with heavy weapons. Although the options in terms of weapons and ammunition were very limited, everyone tried their best to come up with tactics and reasoning to break the attacks. On the Koçera front, we were positioned in three positions and went into action. The position of Heval Dilovan was haunted by the occupiers. In addition to tank, mortar and howitzer fire, many attackers attacked the position. In addition to the heavy technical attacks, the paramilitary forces were also brought forward, which intensified the clashes. They kept getting killed, but they didn’t stop. One person killed was replaced by ten others. The tanks, continuously firing at the position, were initially hit but continued their attacks as they were not destroyed. When the tank heading towards the mine was detonated after a short time, it was completely destroyed and the position where Heval Dilovan was located was relieved, albeit for a while. During these clashes, Heval Nıştıman (Cemal Mevludi) became a Şehîd. Heval Nıştıman was a friend who was born in Şaho in Rojhilat Kurdistan. Up to his martyrdom he took part in the glorious resistance in Nisêbin and fought sacrificially.
The Hevals in this position continued to resist without giving up. Every martyrdom was a justification for stepping up the struggle. In response, these Hevals felt compelled to step up the resistance and fight. With the creative enrichment of the sabotage tactics, the resistance had found an important solution. She was very effective in destroying tanks. It also had a great psychological effect on the occupiers. This was an important step in overcoming the blocked style and tactics. Heval Cengiz was usually a sniper in the Weysekê region. He should come to the Koçera front to take care of sabotage and the mines. With the arrival of Heval Cengiz, emphasis was placed on mines. Heval Dilovan, Mahir Çayan (Şahin Yılmaz), Cengiz, Xeyri (Mehmet Abdullah Öcal) went to the front to work on the mines. Realizing this, the occupiers immediately targeted these Hevals. Cengiz and Dilovan were wounded, but Mahir Çayan became a Şehîd. The martyrdom of Mahir Çayan, who was a role model with his courage, was felt right into the cells. Every martyrdom was different, it had a different effect.
The Hevals at the Nisan Street site immediately mobilized for Mahir Çayan’s revenge. New provisions have been made to keep up with the mobility and pace of the Hevals. Heval Xeyri had started mining. He was accompanied by Mizgin (Kübra Aba), Resul (Resul Inan), Şirin and Viyan. These self-sacrificing Hevals, who were very young, would go down to the basement at dawn to make mines. At nightfall, they returned home, had dinner, and then slept off their tiredness. Heval Xeyri had doubled his pace tenfold. In addition to being tired, he sometimes fell asleep in a corner of the basement. Sometimes, when the young Hevals couldn’t see him in the basement, they would panic and wonder if something had happened. After a while, the young Hevals, used to the situation, knew what to do when Xeyri was out of sight. They woke Heval Xeyris from sleep by searching for nooks and crannies. Once they gained experience mining, they went to work on their own without having to wake Heval Xeyri. But these young Hevals also had a reproach. Since they always wanted to go to the front to fight, they pushed the other Hevals very hard. Especially when they saw Heval Resul and Heval Bakur, they made that clear all the time. Her courage was reflected in her eyes. The attitude of these young Hevals gave strength and morale to all. The young Hevals’ desire to fight against the occupiers was the main source of inspiration for the resistance.
