NEWS CENTER – The contacts of the 36-member International Delegation Against Isolation, consisting of lawyers, journalists and academics from 7 different countries, against the aggravated isolation on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, continue in the third day. In Istanbul, the members of the delegation divided into two groups and made visits. Delegation members made their first visit to the Social Freedom Party (TOP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) today.
During the visit to DBP, delegation members were welcomed by DBP Marmara co-spokespersons Dilber Demir and Atilla Özdoğan. During the closed-door visit of the delegation members, it was stated that the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Prison, the detention process of Öcalan and the political process in Turkey were evaluated.
During the visit to the TÖP Istanbul Provincial Organization, the delegation members were accompanied by the Secretary General of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Renkin Ergül and ÖHD member Bülent Aşa. Members of the delegation were welcomed by PEP Speakers Board member Perihan Koca, Central Committee member Tamer Doğan, Party Assembly (PM) member Kubilay Çelik and Law Commission members Ezgi Kaya and Sezen Ezer. Perihan Koca, a member of the TOP Spokespersons Board, who spoke at the visit, gave information about the struggles and works of their parties. Reminding that the government has attacked Kurds, Alevis, women, workers and many other groups, Koca talked about the severe isolation conditions in prisons in the person of Abdullah Öcalan. In his speech, Koca also stated that Abdullah Öcalan could not access his basic rights in İmralı Prison.
Delegation members, who continue their visit in Beyoğlu and Kadıköy, will visit the Socialist Assemblies Federation (SMF), Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), Laborers’ Movement Party (EHP) and Socialist Re-establishment Party (SYKP) during the day.
