NEWS CENTER – The day of the liberation of Kobanê, a date made in history by the historical resistance of a freedom-loving society at great sacrifice. The meaning of Kobanê’s resistance from the point of view of an internationalist:
When Kobanê was attacked by the IS gangs with the support of the Turkish occupying state, the media of the special war tried to break the hope for freedom that had developed through the revolution in Rojava with massive propaganda. Not just Kobane. 2014 was a violent process for the freedom movement and Kurdish society. After attacking the Maxmur refugee camp and receiving an immediate response, the ISIS genocidal gangs turned their attention to Shengal. The violent attacks on the Ezidi population and especially the Ezidi women were crushed by the people’s defense units of the HPG and YJA Star. After that, the IS gangs turned their guns on Rojava.
Kobanê… On the one hand the gangs of the IS, on the other hand the military of the Turkish occupying state on the border with Turkey. Surrounded, the people in Kobanê, especially the Kurdish youth, who had flocked from all directions in Kurdistan, are putting up a self-sacrificing and historical resistance. With the few means at their disposal, they defied the tanks of the gangs. With the few resources they had, based on their beliefs and their hope for freedom, the foundation of which was laid by Rêber APO, they became heroes who captured the world’s attention.
As part of the special war, the international press on the Turkish border with Kobanê was ready to document the approaching massacre of the Kurdish population by the IS gangs. The Erdogan regime fueled the mood and spread the message “Tonight Kobanê will fall”. People around the world gasped at the sight of these young heroes who were determined in Kobanê to defeat IS, fascism and the inhumanity that this system has produced. Even if it costs her life.
The border of Kobanê filled with people from Bakûr, Turkey and other parts of the world to stand by the resisters in Kobanê, give them strength and show them that they are not alone. The mothers of the fighters stood on the other side of the border, sang songs and kept watch day and night so that the occupying Turkish state could not let any more IS fighters across the border. Mothers and fathers got together. Young and old. The youth who fought at the border to Kobanê with the Turkish occupying soldiers and the fascist police. Historic moments and everyone was fully aware of it. What was triggered in Bakûr by Kobanê was the renewed uprising, the rebellion for freedom, which would later lead to the struggle for the cities to defend self-government. These were also led by the youth and demanded high sacrifices. Once again, society stood up to put fascism in its place and finally gain freedom. Moments full of pain, full of hope, full of excitement and love.
Also in Başûr and Rojhilat it was mainly the youth who were influenced by this resistance. In some places they learned about the revolution taking place in Rojava for the first time and quickly joined the fights against the IS gangs in defense of Rojava. With Kobanê, the feelings of the Welatparêzî, of Kurdish unity and togetherness, which are hidden deep in the hearts of Kurdish society divided by borders and walls, became visible.
The best propaganda is the propaganda of fact and so the propaganda of the special war of the Turkish and international media linked to it was crushed with the liberation of Kobanê. Not only was the special war smashed, the IS suffered a massive collapse from which these gangs are still trying to recover today. Fascism in Turkey suffered a severe slap in the face and began producing heavy warfare equipment, chemical weapons and drones on the left in order to take revenge on the freedom-loving Kurdish society, which to this day has not forgotten its power of united resistance.
But something else also happened with the victory of the resistance. Something that still bears fruit today. With the resistance in Kobanê, the Rojava revolution, the freedom struggle of the Kurdish society, based on the thinking and philosophy Rêber APO, became visible all over the world and became the source of hope and belief that a free, human , ecological, women-free and equal life of all societies is possible.
With the victory in Kobanê, the revolution in Rojava became the implementation of international socialism. International solidarity, exchange, common struggle and learning, for the goals of which many international Şehîds have sacrificed themselves to this day.
Kobanê was freed at great cost. Thousands of valuable combatants sacrificed themselves for the liberation of this city. Freedom was paid for with the blood of heroic Kurdish youth and young women from all four parts of Kurdistan. But her blood was not in vain, with her blood the ideology of Rêber APO was spread all over the world. The IS gangs perished in their blood, and the fascist Erdogan regime is still swimming in their blood today and is trying to save itself from drowning. That’s why for them to this day, Kobanê is a red rag and the target of their constant attacks.
In order to give Kobanê the value it deserves for this historical resistance, it is important to remember their Şehîds, their struggle, their dreams and hopes. To follow their goals and let the Turkish occupiers go under with the liberation of Rêber APO – even if it costs more blood. In memory of the precious daughters and sons who fell in the resistance in and for Kobanê Şehîd. With deep admiration and respect.
To date, fascism has not perished in the blood of Kurdish youth, which has been and continues to be spilled throughout Kurdistan. Today, violent attacks on the freedom struggle, Kurdish society and the regions of north-east Syria are taking place again. The occupying Turkish state, with the support of the hegemonic forces, is using all means to complete its plans for the genocide of the Kurds. The isolation of Rêber APO has been increased to a maximum so that for almost two years no one has known what is actually going on in Imrali, how Rêber APO and the other prisoners in Imrali are doing. Every day there are targeted attacks on the pioneers of Kurdistan’s freedom struggle in the towns and villages of Kurdistan and other European countries. Whether with drones, tanks and rockets, or with targeted agents, village guards, contras and traitors. The attacks on the guerrillas of the freedom of Kurdistan in the open mountains have reached a scale with the use of chemical weapons and banned warfare agents that lacks an analogy. In this context, the fascist AKP-MHP government wants to bring forward the political elections in Turkey in order to somehow try to maintain its power.
Everyone sees this, everyone knows this, now is the time to join the spirit of resistance in Kobanê, the spirit of common internationalist struggle, the spirit of united Kurdish resistance for the freedom of oppressed societies in Kurdistan, the Middle East and worldwide to dedicate to the resistance against capitalist modernity, against the imperialist and hegemonic powers, against fascism and to pave the way for a future in freedom, fraternity, within the framework of democratic confederalism and the democratic nation.”
