SERDEŞT – The revolutionary youth in the city of Serdeşt (in Rojhilatê Kurdistan) has called for the revolution under the slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” on January 22, the anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Mahabad.
On January 22, 1946, in front of thousands of people gathered in Mahabad’s historical square, Qazi Muhamed proclaimed the republic with the following words: “I swear by Allah, the Kurdish nation and the holy flag of Kurdistan, that I shall I will protect the independence of Kurdistan and the Republic to the last drop of my blood and to my last breath.”
Exactly one year and one day after the founding of the republic, on January 23, 1947, an Iranian military court sentenced Qazi Mohamed to death. On March 31 of the same year, Qazi and two of his friends were executed in Charchira, the square where the republic was proclaimed. 47-year-old Qazi Muhamed made history as the last Kurdish leader to be executed in the 20th century.
The republic, which lasted 11 months, was established thanks to historical opportunities. 77 years have passed since the founding of the Republic of Kurdistan, today the Kurdish youth and young women in Rojhilat and Iran are following in the footsteps of this historic date and rebelling against the Iranian massacre regime every day, risking their lives.
The revolutionary youth of Serdeşt last night called on society to work for the women’s revolution in Rojhilat and Iran on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Mahabad. They demanded to defend the historical values of society as a moral, conscientious and political duty. One of these sacred values is Qazi Mohamed. The revolutionary youth declared:
“We as revolutionary youth Serdeşt congratulate on January 22nd and renew our promise to the welatparêzen society, the Şehîds of the path of freedom and the proud families of the Şehîds.”
They saluted the pure soul of January 22 and ended their appeal with the slogans
“Jin, Jiyan, Azadi
Shehid namirin
Serhildan jiyanê
Bijî Şere gele şoreşgerî
Bimrê dagirkera komara îdamê”
