People’s Defense Center (NPG): 2022 War Balance

BEHDINAN – People’s Defense Center (NPG) Headquarters Command stated the following in its 2002 war balance sheet:

“The foundations of the Turkish nation-state, embodied in the mindset of the Union and Progress, were laid on the basis of the liquidation of all the peoples in the Anatolian lands, especially the Armenian, Greek, Assyrian-Syriac. The Kurdish people, the essential element of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, were taken as a basic goal on which the Turkish nation-state would be built, by being removed from being a people and an identity in time, with systematic genocide plans and practices. The centennial genocidal attacks of the Turkish nation-state against the Kurdish people have led the Kurdish people to forced resistance and rebellion, our people have paid a great price, and they have never accepted to be rootless, even though they were dead silent for a while. Leader Apo’s miraculous and historical debut, his epic struggle entering its fiftieth year, and the truth embodied as the PKK; He resurrected the Kurdish people, gave them consciousness and will, It turned it into a reality of the people fighting for its existence and freedom and brought it back to the stage of history. The Apoist movement and our struggle for freedom, which left their mark on the last fifty years of the Turkish Republic, have become the hope of the oppressed by destroying this fiction that is intended to be developed through the denial and destruction of all peoples.

The fascist AKP-MHP regime, which has such a historical background behind it, organized an expedition to Kurdistan, aiming to achieve this genocide plan and remain in power in the centennial year of the TR. For this reason, by declaring an all-out war on the Kurdish people inside and outside of Turkey, it targeted all its gains and wanted to conclude the Kurdish genocide by organizing invasion expeditions. As the most important current goal of this plan, it has set the elimination of the guerrilla in Bakurê Kurdistan and Medya Defense Areas. It has carried out extermination operations against the guerrilla in the whole of Bakure Kurdistan and in the Medya Defense Areas, especially in the last two years, comprehensive occupation operations against Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna.

Guerrilla is absolutely invincible

Our guerrilla forces preserved their existence in the most difficult conditions and impossibilities in Bakure Kurdistan, deepened the guerrillaism based on the professional team style, rendered the extermination operations ineffective, displayed a historic stance and inflicted significant losses on the Turkish army. The Turkish state could not get any results against the Bakur guerrilla, which it says “we will finish” every year. Although thousands of operations were carried out to liquidate the guerrilla, our forces in Bakure Kurdistan were martyred in places, but the Turkish state could not achieve its purpose in the destruction attacks it planned against the Bakurê Kurdistan guerrilla. The entire Bakur guerrilla, especially our martyred comrades, with the awareness of this historical role, made the enemy unsuccessful by displaying high faith, will, determination, effort and effort based on the Apoist self-sacrificing spirit. The AKP-MHP regime, Zap in 2-3 weeks, The aim of occupying Medya Defense Areas by taking Avaşîn and Metina has still not been fully realized. Especially in the last two years, the Turkish state could not realize its plan to invade the borders of the National Pact, which it had planned with the support of the KDP, along with the most modern warfare technology, banned bombs and chemical weapons. These historical resistances continued in Bakur and Medya Defense Zones throughout 2022 once again proved that the guerrilla is absolutely invincible. All figures and information given to the public by the relevant special war ministries are not correct and do not reflect the truth. The picture of the war and the actual figures are available in our annual balance sheet. Along with the banned bombs and chemical weapons, it could not realize its plan to invade the borders of the National Pact with the support of the KDP. These historical resistances continued in Bakur and Medya Defense Zones throughout 2022 once again proved that the guerrilla is absolutely invincible. All figures and information given to the public by the relevant special war ministries are not correct and do not reflect the truth. 

The historical stance against torture and oppression in Imrali and in all the dungeons, the epic resistance of the guerrilla, the resistance of our people against all fascist attacks, and the unyielding insurgent attitude in the field of democratic politics have made the AKP-MHP regime unsuccessful in Kurdish politics. It has not been able to liquidate the political line that the people of Turkey developed together with their left-democratic forces. Thus, it has become clear once again that policies of genocide based on violence will not yield results.

The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, which has gained self-sacrificing spirit and will by equipping itself with Apoist ideology and philosophy, has achieved success by demonstrating high performance and maneuverability in war tactics, despite all kinds of modern war technology used by the enemy in the new period. The resistance of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla in 2022, which left all the plans of the enemy ineffective and went down in history, was woven with the epic martyrdom of the most valuable and heroic sons of our people. In the struggle for 2022, 301 of our comrades were martyred, 64 of our comrades were in Bakurê Kurdistan, 237 of our comrades were martyred in the Medya Defense Zones (55 in the banned bomb and chemical attacks). The martyrdom of each of our comrades, whose identity and martyrdom information has been clarified, has been shared and announced to our very valuable martyr families, our people and the public.
